Chapter 9: Chapter 8
"So where are we going? you know we can't be seen in public right?" Eun byeol looked at her boyfriend curiously.
"oh stop it with the interrogation already! Can't you have a little patience, just trust me." He looked at her with a mysterious smile. He always loved surprising me, he would spend days with his hyungs when it was my birthday or anniversary to plan surprises. However, everytime he hid something from her or tried to surprise her something always went wrong. Last time, he had told her he'd be back soon, that he just had to go and handle something. He never came back though, ever since then I felt afraid everytime he hid something from me.
"trust you? OK sure." he looked at me with a dramatic expression, feigning hurt he said,
"what does that mean?" I chuckled at his antics and showed his face away to look at the road.
"last time you said that you died." I know low blow but still went there. He looked defeated and held
a deadpan expression.
"....ok fair point, but I'm not that reckless anymore so just trust me for once will you?" He grabbed my handing squeezing it tightly as his thumb caressed the back of my hand. He always did that when he knew that I was nervous.
"do i have a chocie?" I smiled at the fact he still knew me so well.
"nope."
After a 3 hour drive we arrived at Gyeongju. He took my hand and led me inside a gated park . We followed the path for 5 minutes before arriving at a tree. It was a cherry blossom tree, the same one he had confessed his love for me under back when Gyeongju was still known as Silla.
He jeld my hand and led me to stand beneath the tree under the hill. I stared it dazed, lost in memories of the many times we had been underneath it together.
"How did you find this place?" awed at the appearance that had not changed the slightest over the decades. His lips curled into a smile, he hugged me in a warm embrace and his deep voice resonated softly among the peaceful nature surrounding us.
"I grew up in geochang county, its only an hour from here so I came to travel here once with my grandparents when I was little. I didn't realize what this place was back then until I went back. That night I had a dream about the night I stood under there and proposed to you. It was then I remembered this was that very place." His eyes looked at me and they were so soft I melted in that moment. I knew he waited a long tome for me. He was waiting her for me while I waited for him in Silla. We were both in the same place missing eachother just in different timelines. How lucky were we to be given another chance?
"I can't believe its still intact, I thought all remnants of our past life were gone." She touched the trunk of the tree that remained strong and steady just like it was before. He smiled at her and caressed her cheek, whispering in her ear, "Are you happy?" she turned around and kissed him, a soft peck and looked into his eyes passionately.
"Thanks for bringing me here Taehyung, I love you."
"I love you too, now this isn't the only suprise." he gave the same mysterious grin he had given in the car with his eyes shinging in anticipation and nervousness.
"Anothe suprise? what is it?" She was curious about what else could it be. Epsecially something that would make him so nervous.
"Close you eyes." He put his hand over my eyes and slid it down to close my eyes. She grabbed his hand and called out "Taehyung?" but he remained form and pleaded "Oh just listen to me." she sighed but gave in closing her eyes.
"fine, they're closed." she heard his voice laced with nervousness and it peaked her curiosity. He jokingly teased her "no peaking." she rolled her closed eyes and huffed. "I'm not. I'm not." She heard his clothes ruffling and him fumbling with something before she heard his voice which didn't seem right next to her anymore. "ok, now open them."
I opened my eyes and didn't see him in front of me but then I looked down and met his sparking eyes. They glistened in the sunset that surrounded us and my eyes teared up as I see that he was on his knee. He held out a box with a ring in it. It was a ring embedded with a beautiful moonstone.
"You know, I that alot before this and I wanted to make you mine because I think we both waited long enough. We deserve our own happy ever after and this time I promise you it will be a forever that we spend together. Our hearts will beat together this time, and stop beating at the same time too. Do you accept being my forever, byeol?" His eyes shine in anticipation as he looked at me with love. I tried to find my words but his speech touched me so much, I was having trouble finding my voice. I was after I would start sobbing if I said anything. He started getting jittery after a few seconds and awkwardly stared at me, the ring in his hands.
"..."
"You know we spent literally two lifetimes engaged, you can't say no." he pouted at me, teasing me in a playful manner. His one eyebrow raised at me as his grinned showing his teeth. She rolled her eys and let a single tear flow before she chuckled in a shaky voice, "ofcourse its a yes, you idiot. put the ring on me already." She put her hand forward to which I immediately responded and put the rung on as quick as lightning.
"Yes! No take backs princess." He yelled out picking up his now fiance in his arms and spinning in circles put of pure joy.
"I would never." She kissed the top of his still in his arms before she was finally let down.
"This moonstones so beautiful." looking down at the sparkling transparent jewel that shone in the setting suns light. It seemed to hold the stars inside it.
"You know I had it made before I even met you on this life." She looked up at him shocked at this revelation. She didn't know he had trusted in their fate so much. She felt like crying all over again.
"Really? You were so sure we would meet?"
"Yeah, I knew heavens wouldn't be so cruel to me." he whisperd to her hugging her tightly, his head buried in her neck. He sat down leaning against the tree and pulled her to.kay with him. They watched the sunset in eachothers embrace. taehyung held her hand in front of them, both glancing at the ring.
"Do you know what a moonstone represents?" She smiled at the question knowing exactly what it meant. "yeah, new beginnings."
"To a new beginning, Mr.Kim."
"To our new beginning, Mrs.Kim."
