Chapter 3: Never A "Dull" Moment

7:15 PM, Monday, April 5th.

Hikarashi's mother calls him and his brother down for dinner. When Hikarashi and Hansel meet each other's gaze, Hansel begins to feel uncomfortable as his brother is unable to turn away. His eerie glare did not disappear. As they walked down the stairs, Hansel in front, was too frightened to turn back, but he felt his brother right behind him, with less than a foot in between them. Once they arrive at the table, Hansel is able to calm himself and starts to question what exactly just happened. "Am I- afraid of Hikarashi? No way, he's my brother. What's there to be afraid of? Haha..." He thought to himself. He told himself to just forget it ever happened, and that he was just overthinking things. But then, he looked up and saw that same look, fixated on him. Throughout the whole dinner, his disquietude continued. And then- "Hikarashi, I got a call from the school today." said their mother. "They told me you had a detention. What the hell was that about?" She frowned at Hikarashi. Finally he snapped out of it; after coming back to his senses he gave her an answer. "I don't know." he said. "Ugh, I wanna stick that knife in her throat." Said a voice inside Hikarashi's head. "No, that's my mom. I love her and I would never do anything like that to her." The other voice argued. "Oh shut up. You're only saying that because you're supposed to love your mom or whatever. Same with dad and Hansel. You don't really love any of them, do you? It's all just because they're family and they're supposed to be the most important thing in the world. Yeah right, like they ever even treat me like that." Said the first voice once again. "No! Mom, dad, and Hansel all love me and care about me as I love them." The second voice argued again. "You don't know, huh? The hell is that supposed to mean?! You managed to get the detention didn't you? So? What was it for?" The mother yelled. "Oh great, here we go again. Never a dull moment with this bitch huh?" The voice {Shi} said sarcastically. "I don't know, I was talking in class I guess." Hikarashi responded. "You guess? You don't even know what you did wrong? And why the hell do you think talking in class is fine? Get grades like your brothers then think about talking in class. Honestly, how could you be so useless," the mother sighs and shakes her head in disapproval. "You're brother is an amazing kid and student, he's top of all his classes, the best at sports, and the best son anyone could ever ask for! You on the other hand, all you are is a waste of space and air. Can't you do anything right? It's always the same thing with you, and you never learn your lesson or change. You're brother-" She tries to continue but Hikarashi interrupts. "Good for him, okay! I'm not Hansel, and I'm not perfect like him. Sorry that I'm such a disappointment of a son when you're such a disgrace of a mom!" Hikarashi yells as he slams the table. They all stare in awe, and after a moment, the silence is broken. "Who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that! You never should've even been born you worthless mistake! You have the nerve to sit there and call me a disgrace??! What've you completely lost it? I'm your mother whether you like it or not you damn piece of shit, and hell if I'm gonna' sit here and take this crap from a brat like you!" His mother yells back, jumping out of her chair. She storms up to him and grabs him by his hair. She starts to yank on it as she pulls him outside of the house. She shoved him onto the cold ground and began throwing the nearest things she could find at him. One of the items was a plate, which she threw at his head, shattering it all over him. She is then finally pulled away by Hansel, but she still hadn't come to her senses. She walked back into the house and locked the door, leaving him outside, with blood streaming from his head. "Let me in! Stop! Please I'm sorry!" Hikarashi pleaded but got no help. "Don't you dare even try and open that door Hansel! You either Damion! Or else you'll be the one outside!" As she said this Hansel looked straight at Hikarashi, and then turned away and never looked back.
