Chapter 18: Conclusion

The crowd stood in a stupor as they observed Lady Matilda. Never before have they seen an individual with capabilities such as hers, even the most powerful wizards they knew of could barely perform magic wandless, yet here stood a woman who looked to be in her early thirties perform feats no man should be capable of.

A cough originating from Hadrian brought them out of their stupor, "I believe this should be enough to convince you of my capabilities". She received a round of nods as her response, Madame Bones let out an awkward cough as she reoriented herself "shall we return to the meeting room?" she said towards the gathered group "yes let…" Lord Abbot replied.

Eventually, they find themselves back in the meeting room, a bit more respect in the gaze of some while one particular Goblin had concern flash in his eyes every time he looked towards Lady Matilda, if she noticed it she showed no reaction.

"I believe my retainer has proven herself so you don't have to worry about her capabilities, and she'll be able to protect me from any that will try harm me" pausing he accessed their reactions, noting no disagreement he continued, "I'm hoping one of your houses agree to my conditions, I'll let you ponder for a while".

Creating a silencing ward; with permission from Griphook, over themselves both Abbots had a discussion between themselves, Amelia was silently contemplating before seemingly coming to a decision. Soon enough 5 minutes passed.

Lord Abbott was the first to speak "while the benefits are present and our Houses can gain a lot from this, the untold consequences that even we don't know the full range of prevent us from taking this step. While we cannot take this responsibility, we are willing to align ourselves with your house, with the stipulation no harm comes upon House Abbott".

Words delivered he retreated to his seat, attention shifted towards Madame Bones waiting for her decision "in respect of my friendship with your parents, while I can agree to a majority of your terms an alteration will need to be made". Hadrian listening to this alongside Lady Matilda withheld any comments opting to listen, "while you state limited interference, I will require the stipulation changed in order to allow me access to you and yourselves in order to periodically check up on you and your wellbeing ", with that she waited for their reply.

Thinking about it for a minute, Hadrian saw no direct drawbacks to this wanting to get the meeting over and done with he agreed "I don't mind the alteration, however I will require notice before your arrival" Madam Bones agreed to this before continuing "while not directly related, I would like to speak to Lady Matilda about a possible partnership, at your convenience of course".

Lady Matilda already having an inkling on what it might be easily agreed, seeing that Lady Bones had nothing further to add AM Griphook finalised the meeting, seeing that their presence is no longer required the Abbotts exited the room.

AM Griphook addressing Madam Bones finally let her know what information was withheld from her "Madam Bones while it states you'll be a representative of House Potter, what was not said is you'll be the representative of not only House Potter but also House Black and House Slytherin".

Amelia Bones head immediately snapped towards Hadrian, the shock was apparent in her, eyes wide and mouth agape, furthermore the information that he was heir to the Blacks surprised her "how is it that you are heir to both houses" Hadrian had to smother the laugh that was building up in his chest. "I'm pretty sure you're aware of the term 'Right of Conquest', also it turns out that Sirius Black was actually my Godfather, bound by magic".

Saying this he passed the parchment that detailed his birth parents and godparents' names, reading this Amelia was surprised as it meant that Sirius couldn't possibly have betrayed the Potters. "He was never given a trial" before Madam Bones could ask Lady Matilda interjected. Steel could be seen in Madam Bones eyes as she heard this, knowing a Lord of an Ancient and Noble house was wrongly imprisoned had far-reaching consequences than Hadrian's guardianship.

Heads will roll as the authority of Ancient and Noble Houses of Magical Britain have stood uncontested for centuries. "I will look into this case and ensure all those involved will be brought to justice", not bothered whether he was free or not he accepted her words.

Soon enough the meeting concluded, it turns out that what Amelia Bones wanted to ask was what Lady Matilda thought, asking about the possibility of coming in to train a few of the Aurora in the future. Lady Matilda agreed easily enough, once every three months she will conduct a series of training sessions, Lady Matilda also wants to see the capabilities of elite wizards to help develop any countermeasures that might be helpful.

Having a hand in their development doesn't seem bad in itself. A notice was sent to Albus Dumbledore.

Exiting the bank Lady Matilda noticed the exact same man that was previously tailing them however, there were two other men with him. Walking along while pretending not to notice them she saw other men looking down towards a device she wasn't sure on then gradually heading in her direction. Focusing on Hadrian she let him know with a hint of humour "looks like we have some company".

Hadrian's' head snapped up but Lady Matilda quietly reprimanded "eyes straight! Don't make it look like you've noticed; we'll find out what they're after soon enough". He carried on walking, genuinely taking in the sites offered by the alley, while not impressive there is a certain charm to the Victorian ambience.

Soon enough they arrived at a somewhat deserted section of the alley, their stalkers at some point during the walk decided to forgo the subtlety. Other patrons in the surrounding, noticing the oddity quickly exited the alley, none offering help in any way.

"Well I'm definitely flattered, what can I help you gentlemen with?" Lady Matilda asked as she took stock of where each mean was, a few hidden around the corner seemingly on the lookout. One of the men stood up "we have some business with you, if you don't want your child to be hurt we suggest you follow us". The slightest hint of mockery could be heard but Lady Matilda wasn't perturbed, Hadrian watched it all thinking of the possible people he might have angered, ["death eaters? No I shouldn't be so easily recognised; might it be from the bookstore?"] Deciding to observe he looked at the man speaking.
