Chapter 1: Ad Mortem

Chapter 1 "To Death"

Underneath the Antidiluvian depths of the World called to be Asteria, Lay an ancient and dormant tomb, Its Hieroglyphics belonged to a long lost History that remained unspoken amongst the masses above, For hidden deep within its remnants are the lies that unfolded during a massive Insurgency known as 'War with Wrath' . . .

Though that idea would be revisioned as there were many names ending up being bestowed upon this Great Conflict that would try to describe it's tangled fate, An example being fit for its onslaught, The Architects Doom, The Creators Conflict, The Ascended Spite, and so on and forth . . .

But none could ever catch its phrasing any better than to call it 'The Betrayers War'. As spoken through generations of passing its coinage.

Yet not all life within Asteria would have prior knowledge about the reasons why it twas to be, As only that phrase would be left unanswered.

For its story has been thoroughly erased within the confines of Space and Time, through the power held by Asterian deities it twas to be silenced.

this was out of remorse or from deep worry by the same perpetrators that started it, In other words Divine Interventions.

None will remember of its causality, Up until now . . . . .

***

Echoing throught a Cavern was the sound of continued breaking, That Sundered everytime between mere seconds, Like a pause to let the vibration of its noise filter along the distance, extending itself within the stone and quartz interior.

glazed with sharpened stalactites and stalagmites, Forming an open hollow filled with vast malformed pillars that numbered beyond its nature.

The noise was caused by an entity that bellowed with great effort put to enabling it, Having to use brute force with the aide of a tool in order to complete the task at hand with a fleeting feeling of anticipation.

The friction of it caused the solid form to blaze in a slight sparkle.

This unperturbed echoing Went on and on till it reached further distances, followed by other multiple figures that handled the same kind of work without any hindrance to their duties.

These Figures Silhouettes were being obscured but maketh by a single dimly lit light source omitting in a circumference of five meters in radius, And as it did, It seemed to slowly fade, Its Illumination lessened when it reached the threshold out of limitations in terms of area coverage.

It did not stop these bipedal figures numbering to twenty though, As they seemed used to being with out natural sight, For they relied more on their Mental sense rather than a single unreliable light source being omitted in the center of this dark and foreboding jagged pothole.

Yet as they did their work, they were ment to be properly geared for doing their job, But it would be Hypocrisy to say that as they obviously are under prepared in a certain few missing miscellaneous.

'Torch light and Protective Gear as to describe it'.

Spelunking was never the intended result of this disposition though, But for a group of Grave Robbers with little to experience, Twas a must with no options left. As their Job description would say it all in compiled profiling.

They tired themselves every part of the day to see their results bear the golden goose egg. But Six months have been a long while for their workload.

Still they did not opted for this, However with reasons held deep inside their hearts, desperation was quite the common theme that followed suite through there actions thoughtfully.

Which is to be frank out of plausibility a sort of reflective resolve.

Or a fate sealing ultimatum for many, To which Humans with questionable background would go through such hardships to obtain the momentary reveling that came in life.

To continue on . . .

Not so long after, a momentary silence greeted the entire hollow cavity, For these labor abled mortal bodies attention were directed towards a certain living creature, It was unclear yet not obscured as this thing was clearly also bipedal.

Having interjected their work space in a slightly rude yet straight to the point manner.

A voice spoke within the darkness, Clear and having a Baritones decible's, He said in a reassuring tone to these twenty a heartfelt truth that further expended their energy out of pure and sheer determination.

"Boys if we keep this up, We will be Wealthy in no time! Just imagine all those Luxurious Artifact's that we would be obtaining once we Get inside this old temple! You can have all the Booze and Woman in the entire World!" This is followed by a series of small cheers by a race of Asterian Man, While the main spokes person drank wine from a gourd held on his hand.

They were quite the Scallywag in terms of behaviour as they began to loudly projected their desires without a hint of shame nor regret in them.

"Hurrah to riches and women!"

"Yes I can't wait no longer"

"I seemed to taste the hidden Gold in the Air"

"I can finally repay my depts . . ."

As the Exclamation went on, The Other so called Grave Robbers began to dig and mine fervently, Causing the fracture of noises within the dimly lit cavern underground that echoed earlier to intensify.

While this was happening, As they continued to excavate, The rest of the wild bunch began to reminisce on the accounts that happened not so long ago.

A voice of a Englishman said in a quite disgruntled manner of tone.

"We are truly blessed today by Lady luck herself, although it was a shame that the man that led this place to us fell deceased in such a bad manner, He was sure kind enough to leave this ancient map to the poor lads."

Another shared their fortune with a Irish accent.

"Aye, If it weren't for the fact that he supported the likes of us sorry sods, He wouldn't have been kicked out of the Noble circle."

An Feminine like voice with an French accent continued on, quite the educated fellow.

"True, If it weren't for those deplorable Noblemen and their pompous in a matter of fact dung lord attitude, The common people like us wouldn't have to suffer like this."

The baritone middle man once again interrupted them, for he disliked being reminded of the fate of other people, as these group of unlikely men weren't always on the lawful side.

For they would commit despicable crimes, When left unattended. And Fate is termed differently to them.

"Now now, don't be so glum about that man, We must continue on his wife's legacy by digging this place out for the sake of riches! as he would have wanted this for all of us"

Hypocritical of his own words, the man's guise never has been smoothly established, because his features and words always oozed with this disgustingly overwhelming greed.

Yet this did not mind the others, For they themselves were ill bent on attaining the most of the power and wealth that any mortal could want.

For Asterians with their primordial genetics are controlled by their natural animalistic instincts, forgetting to rationalise with their thinking compatibility which is granted by the gods.

This was offcourse limited by the disciplined and educated ones of these low born robbers.

"That is true Belford, Though it really is a shame, We don't have a cartographer anymore, I mean what if we get into any sort of trouble, I mean it's a temple for bloody sakes." said the feminine french voice towards the man as to be named Belford.

"Nonsense this temple is said to be very old by Count Hannibal, It is most likely that most of the traps have been already tampered with by ten thousand years of changes, Err what it was called again Lars."

"Erosion and earthquakes, He told us to be warry of it when digging this out, Because this place is err bad" Lars said while stretching.

Belford is a man in his thirties, light brown skin tone and black messy hair, with a tall and muscular body build, riddled with all sorts of scars. well shaved for his age.

While Lars looks to be twenty, olive skin and a long dirty blond hair reaching till waist length, thin and frail looking, often mistaken as a woman because of the voice, hair do and body build.

"I think it was unstable, sheesh he didn't have to teach us these words, Its like I went back on being at the caretakers place." Belford continued Lars recollection as Lars did for him.

"All the Nobles and their damn wealth and jests, they just had to come up with such debauching contracts" Lars complained heavily while the rest could only nod or agree.

"Indeed"

"Yes"

"Aye"

Then, noticing the gourd, the Irish accent man asked the baritone Belford "Say Belford mind if I have a drink?"

"Drink my piss you cheeky cunt"

"WHY you Little Arse whipe! Can't a man have taste of some fine wine for the time being, I mean what's the occasion your celebrating to early" Robert said quite angered by his response.

"Well You better think again Robert because in this gourd is my own piss! And if you think your better off drink it then go ahead! and let me see you try!" Belford sarcastically insulted the Irish accent man named Robert as they stood up and pushed their chests against each other with force.

"Prick your mum With your own piss, Yah smelly piece of polished horse dung!" Berated Robert, Which most likely infuriated Belford.

"Now listen here you camel mouthed ball face! I've earned this delicacy, If you talk bad about my mother again I'll make sure you smell like piss in the morning!" Belford Disgustingly said, which made Lars nearly vomit.

Lars then straddled towards their postion to cut them off, wanting to remind them on were they are at right now.

"Boys, Cease this Infantile Squabbling and look at the bigger picture here, there is probably more than enough gold inside that temple if we keep on digging, So better be in good terms now then never."

The realisation came, pausing for a while both irritated men came into terms, At least for now, As they back off from each other's throats.

"Just never Insult my mum you Little prick" Belford huffed.

Robert grunted in response, making Belford even more angry at his actions.

"Why YOu . . . " Before Belford could continue.

The entire interior of the Cave shook slightly, spreading a bit of fear amongst the men for they thought of the worst that is to come.

All went silent, halting themselves from continuing any of their work when the walls began to rumble.

Backing off from the Rigged interior, Robert took the torch in the middle of their space and held it up with his hands to illuminate the upper parts of the Cave, Incase off falling debris.

To his relief the tremors isn't strong enough to cause any falling stalactites.

After a long time on what felt like endless shaking for the twenty grave robbers. Everything went completely silent.

They waited for a while for the after shock, But none came, Everybody present there sighed in relief as it wasn't disastrous enough like they thought it would be.

Belford composed himself as he began to re-establish the chain of command.

"Alright men, that was terrifying let's continue on the excavation and have our drinks in an hour" with this signal the men went back to digging keeping silent on what had just happened out of shock.

One of the Grave Robbers begun to lit matches from his match box, As to readjust himself to the positioning near the caverns walls.

As he walked over towards the past footing, He was destined to be baffled by what he saw next.

And when he sees the changes of what had occured to this place, He nearly went mad . . . . . So he called out towards his peers with pure horror written all over his features.

"Men I -I - I think I found something" stuttering and shaking as he said this, all the while his peers followed suite to his call.

Robert and Lars the first to be alerted heeded the man's cry, As they rushed there with great agility.

And once they did.

They had a Terrified expression in their faces as they saw what it was, All the rest could only wonder in the impossible and miracles when they arrived to see what it is.

Only Lars was able to come out of his composure as he uttered with out thought to it.

"That wasn't there before . . . . ."

"What in the Bloody pricking World is going on now"
