Chapter 3: Chapter Two:Stress Call
(Camille POV)
I quickly ate the food he prepared for me, asked to borrow his phone and made my way back into the bedroom for some privacy. I dialed the house phone and sighed in relief to hear a familiar voice.
"This is Darke residence, Dolly speaking who is this?"
"Dolly, it's me, Cammie!" A long pause.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!"
"I got lost at sea, but I'm okay."
"How does a mermaid get lost at sea? You know what? Talk to Ainion cause I have to get to work"
With that she left and I heard the phone be passed to my brother.
"Sorella, explain yourself." A simple request.
"I hit my head and drifted at sea. I'm in California where a nice man named Peter found me. He bandaged my wound and has even made me a meal. He just found me last night."
"He fed you?" I could hear the way his voice heightened. You see he's a wolf and he was taught that the only time a male provides a female with food is when he is family or he is seeking her as a mate.
"Deirfiúr, is he courting you?" My brother constantly switches between Italian and Gaelic due to his father being Irish and his other father being Italian. His real fathers anyway. Yes, two dads. Wolf shifter males can breed if one is an Omega or more commonly known as a submissive male. My brother happens to be one and It's a very cool trait.
"No, we just met. But he can't let me starve now can he? You always have mating on your mind. Honestly,try going out and finding your own boyfriend instead of telling us girls to find husbands! I was just calling to let you know that I'm alive."
I heard him sigh again. I knew what he was about to say; It's what he always said.
"You know I wish to find my mate, that would mean breaking my promise to your father. I cannot find my soulmate until all of you have found a suitable mate that can keep you safe. Yet, it still baffles me that he thought an Omega could protect six girls. Thank the gods Jenny and Vicky have found mates and have flown the coop. Makes my job easier. And thank you for telling me you are safe. I was worried half to death."
The door creaked and I knew then that I had to wrap up my phone call.
"Goodbye, brother I'll see you soon." I hung up before he said a word and opened the door to see Peter trying hard to make it seem like he hadn't been eavesdropping.
