Chapter 62: Truth
Looking at the confused Anko, the sage smiled widely, she had started to weave her web of words by now.
" Now do you know what your words truly mean? It means you are claiming to be the wife of God! The only true God of Ninja world! It is a Sin! A grave Sin! "
Anko was feeling really spooked out, the snake was out of her mind?
No, she knew the sages were wise, ignoring her talks as nonsense will be a fool's endeavour.
' So what is she saying? Mizuki isn't Mizuki? He is Kaguya something? A God.. '
The Snake sage was feeling pleased with herself, she managed to get this girl into her game.
She cannot hope to compete with Mizuki, but she needs more insurance than just his whims!
So she settled on Anko, Mizuki clearly at least had some form of care for this girl, she could tell that much, then if she is unable to control Mizuki, she would control Anko.

Jiraya was the toad's messenger pet, searching for Ashura everywhere for them, and Anko will be the snake's insurance.

Anko took the time to think as sage kept mum for a while, then she asked her question.
Hearing her, snake sage knew that the girl was trapped, let's start with making her understand her status. The sage thought.

Anko was so shocked that she interrupted the sages words.
Then she quickly asked her question.
" That can't be true! How could Mizuki be a moon goddess?! I might not have his smell on me, but I know for a fact he is not a goddess! At least make it more believable. "
The snake hissed
" The moon goddess is just a metaphor, the deity has no fixed form.. We were born long after the deity had existed, but we have seen much. "
The sage settled snugly on a rock cliff.
" According the our knowledge, the deity was called goddess only because of creating the whole world. The world was metaphoricaly born from the deity, as a mother would give birth. That's why we call nature, mother nature. "
Looking right into Anko's eyes the sage told her theory, the one they had put together with what they had seen.
" When we were born, gained sense, we could see the goddess around a few times, we were stuck in a tree, our memory was hazy back then, but we didn't only see the form of a goddess, we sometimes also saw the form of a god! He too roamed around the tree. "
Anko sat on a rock formation as she listened to the sage talk.
" But one day, the god stopped coming, only the goddess form was seen, many years later we would assume the god was never there, only a figment of our imagination.. or.. the goddess had killed the god! "
Anko shuddered, this was a tale too old, if these tales were true then the ninja world is really..
The sage confirmed her own theory as she spoke, getting more and more sure of her guess

Anko gulped, ten tails? That sounds like a mythical creature made from the nine tailed beast's stories.
As if reading her mind, the sage hissed.

Hissing loudly, as if intent of shaking the cave the snake concluded.

Now instead of the sage snake talking again, Anko with glazed eyes whispered.
" In this life, the deity was reborn as Mizuki Senju.. that is the name he took didn't he..? "
Anko smiled, as if understanding everything
" I understand why he spoke so seriously about the moon goddess back then.. so sure she existed.. "
Letting out a breath she whispered
" That's why he talked as if he was feeling a personal connection with her fate? Of being all alone? I wondered why he talked like that back then.. but I guess that clears it up.. "
Snake sage frowned, rebirth wasn't supposed to remember the memories, and Mizuki Senju certainly doesn't..
' No, I suppose for one that strong, some remaining embers refusing to go out is natural. '
The sage ignored this point for now, she had much more important things to discuss with the girl, like making her feel as if she isn't worthy!
So the sage herself can tell her what to do to gain Lord's trust, and in exchange, the sage becomes an important asset this girl protects!
' I am the only one who can make you worthy! Unless you protect me, you will lose everything! Hisssss! '
The snake sage was after all, a snake, with no consideration for human emotions, everything was for survival.
And if she has to trap this girl to ensure survival, that is precisely what she will do.
