Chapter 3: PK is a Thing
"I guess we know why they said we could not stop playing the game when we start.. " Seth said looking around at all the other players panicking and yelling for them to let them out of the game.
"We should keep a level head and save freaking out for later. What is important is leveling up and getting the advantage on everyone while staying out of peoples sights. " Sarah said, surprising the two guys.
"Where did that come from? " John asked wondering if Sarah has always been this collected.
"In real life I work in a high stress office as a manager.. So you could say I am used to staying calm under pressure while giving out tasks. " She replied happily since she felt like she was able to help for once.
"Well I wanted to get to level five anyway so we may as well keep leveling and getting money put aside for when we need it. " Seth said while trying to sneak out of the crowd to head to the shop to ask about a map.
Reaching the shops the group split up to ask all the shop owner NPC's about where to purchase a map. Seth having the best luck ended up asking the owner of a shop who just so happened to sell a map of the town as well a map to the next town in the game.
Purchasing both maps for 100 Elru he happily found Sarah and John to tell them the good news.
After inspecting the map with his team they decided that they should stay along the road leading out of the town as the monsters levels would increase by a level the further they went towards the new town.
"The town of Satin looks like it will take a few hours walking by foot not counting the time it will take to kill the monsters along the way to level, not to mention the monsters around Satin are all level 10. " Seth said, looking at the detailed map he bought.
"Well we are already level 4 so we can cut some of the time off the travel time but not much. " Sarah said thinking they could just bypass all the monsters level 4 and below.
"That is a good point. The real question is if the net town will even be open it has only been a few hours since the game has started and we are clearly the only ones to have leveled up yet. " John said while looking around at the level one imps around them.
"Yeah you're right, on the other hand we can get some good leveling done and be the first ones in the new town if we go now and it is open. " Seth said while voting to go to the next town.
"Don't you guys think we should see everything this town has to offer before going to the next one? " Sarah said voting to wait a while before going to the next area.
"Its MMO 101, beginner towns are just that beginner towns we will have better luck going to the next town to see if there are any quests we can take. While we are there we can also farm monsters around the town to save up for better gear. We have an early game advantage right now we can either make that last and be the Top Players through the whole game or wait until people catch up and get a leg up on us. " John said making a good point since they were already a few hours of grinding above everyone else that they knew of.
"Off to the next area it is! " Seth said leading the way along the road while killing all of the level 1 - 3 monsters in one hit while the other two just took the party experience.
"I know they said we could feel everything but the feeling of having power like this is addicting. I want to see how much power I can get honestly. " Seth said while continuing to kill all the monsters by the road he could see eventually gaining them a level before even hitting the level 5 monsters.

"The feeling of putting points into strength is crazy I can actually feel my muscles becoming more refined. '' Seth said, while noticing his body has changed a little more than what he did in the character creation area.
"I know what you mean I feel like I could let a truck hit me right now and still be fine. " John said while beating a hand to his chest.
"You two are getting a little too into this don't you think? " Sarah said knowing how they felt but not having the same reaction.
"What do you put your points into anyways Sarah? " Seth asked curiously as they walked not seeing anymore monsters.
"I put most of my points into Intelligence while also putting some into agility and vitality. " She replied while considering putting points into strength or defense to see what they felt when they leveled.
"Finally the level 5 monsters! " Seth said while rushing off slightly faster than before to start attacking the level 5 lesser wolves.
Taking his large sword Seth swung hard while using the skill he got for becoming level 5 'Sword shot' which caused a small transparent blade to expand out from his swing hitting the enemies if they were within another swords length away from the user.
Seeing the glowing red line appear on two wolves Seth got excited and kept using it over and over until his mana was depleted killing a few of the monsters before he was finished.
"Seth attack I need some help here! " John called out while tanking three of the monsters to protect Sarah.
Getting a running start Seth used his 'Dread Slash' skill and hit all three of the wolves that were attacking John killing the one he was tanking instantly. Attacking the other two monsters Seth was happy to see they didn't stop attacking John no matter how much damage he did to them.
"Let's try to group more than three! " Seth said fully enjoying the game that he was hesitant about before.
"Don't be crazy I can only tank three at a time! " John yelled out in protest with Sarah agreeing behind him.
"PONG~ Player Amy Johnson has been eliminated by Player Josh Combstock PONG~ "
Looking at each other they realized that monsters are not the only thing to look out for in the game. "Maybe we really should keep leveling up… " Sarah said not wanting to be taken out of the game this early.
"PONG~ Player Alex Jones has been killed by Player Josh Combstock PONG~ "
"PONG~ Player Louis Tompkins has been killed by Player Josh Combstock PONG~ "
"PONG~ Player Josh Combstock gained the Title - Killer PONG~ "
"I think if we see this guy we should probably attack first.. " Seth said while looking at John who understood why Seth said what he did.
"You're right the guy is killing off others, if he sees us then he may try to sneak attack us it would be better if we got him before he gets to a level where he can actually fight us.. " John replied.
"Maybe he won't attack us because we are in a party of three? There is no way he can take all of us. " Sarah said not wanting to kill off another player just because he kills others.
"What happens when we just let him roam free if we see him and he just kills more people? What if he sees you walking alone and sneak attacks you? " John turned to Sarah asking her.
"It is just a game so what does it even matter all that happens is we get sent back home debt free. " Sarah replied firmly.
"For the time being let's just keep leveling up. " Seth said while going to attack another monster.
"He is right, we shouldn't worry too much about it until we see the guy. " John said while following Seth to grind more levels.
Attacking two wolves at the same time Seth made good use of his agility and attack damage to evade the wolves as they attacked while being able to land blows one after the other. John tanked and worked on getting the feel for his moves while Sarah stood back and just healed when she needed to.
"I shouldn't have picked this class.. It is kind of boring.. " Sarah said watching John and Seth have fun attacking and killing wolves on their own while she just sat back and did next to nothing.
"Healers are very important, the higher level you get the more you will be able to do so I wouldn't worry about it too much. " John said, trying to raise her morale a little.
"Players like Seth lose themselves in the grind and have fun. The issue with that is if we get into a harder area we will need him to help and not run off on his own. If we didn't have you as a healer then the two of us would be in trouble. " John said again.
Finishing off the last few level 5 wolves on the road they realized they reached the level 6 monsters without leveling first. Seeing the the monsters being a level stronger Seth moved closer to John and started taking his role as the damage dealer more serious only attacking the monsters that John aggroed.
Keeping their formation they managed to level up to 6 making things a bit easier to kill the monsters in that area.

Skills - Dread Slash, Sword Shot, Demon Smash.
"Oh I got another skill! " Seth said out loud in excitement while reading the skills information to himself. 'Demon Smash - Swinging your sword with all your might hit the ground in front of your enemy stunning up to 2 players or monsters for 2 seconds '.
Waiting for John to aggro three monsters Seth used his new skill slamming his sword on the ground in front of the wolves running up to them. Making contact with the ground Seth and the others watched in awe as the ground erupted hitting two of the wolves hard causing them to stand still stunned.
"That's a crazy ability you have haha " John said while using his new skill as well. Yelling out the three wolves began to sit forcefully under Johns skill 'Knight's Might' a skill that targets up to 4 targets and causes them to become unable to move for 1.5 seconds.
"We make a good team haha we can rotate stuns! " John said happily as he also managed to receive a crowd control skill.
"What about you Sarah? What new skill did you get? " Seth asked curious what her skills were.
"I got an attack skill called 'Holy Strike' I need a weapon called a Holy Cross to use it though. The skill lets me strike an enemy with the weapon which causes the enemy to take more damage from party members while dealing 30 points of damage. " Sarah said not able to hide her smile having an attack skill.
Moving on after chatting some they made it to the level 8 monsters while making it to level 7 before taking a break under a tree.
"It has been a few hours, It is even getting kind of dark. I wonder what the other players are doing right now. " Sarah said while laying back on the ground mentally exhausted from the hours of continuous grinding trying to make it to the new town.
"Yeah but it is worth it!, while everyone else is probably calling it a day we are going to make it to level 10 and be able to explore a new area before anyone else. " John said while looking at his status screen.
"If it has taken this long to reach level 7 I really wonder just how long this game will take to complete.. " Seth said while looking at the sky.
"Alexander said it should take a year didn't he? " Sarah said recalling what he said inn the game,
"Yeah but you can't predict everything what if players like that Josh guy get super high in level and just kill all the top players? Who will be left to clear the game then? I have also been curious for a while but cryogenics has never been proven to work.. There might be a chance that we can't come back from this game.. " Seth said slowly understanding exactly what he just implied.
"Don't talk like that… " John said now looking a little depressed.
