Chapter 17: Leaving the Nest (test flight)

Bastille and I have been together now for 5 years. We have spent almost all are waking moments with each other with a few hours where we spend time away from each other. Which usually happens when Mom Takes bastille to talk Girl stuff, Negotiation tactics, Network security, and cooking.
When it comes to food. Growing it I am amazing and Bastille can't get grass to grow in a prairie. But when it comes to cooking it I can make a Mean salad and a killer cake. Well the salad is good and the cake goes down like a rock. Don't get me wrong, it tastes good but... well it can actually kill you. Good thing we all only had one bite.
Due to my prowess in the garden Mom and Dad made me a small hydroponics garden to be placed in the main area between the Living room and work shop proper.
We finally saw my cousins ship. It has the shape of a arrow head. Long and pointy. Acceleration is ridiculous 6000Gs with an atmospheric speed of 1800KmH. If records are believed it even has a class 1.4 hyper drive.
Now from looks it seems to have a limited cargo and crew quarters can maybe hold 3 people with few amenities.
Weapons are an unknown. It has forward facing blaster barrels and torpedo tubes. When I scanned it I could get a reading that it had shields but didn't go too deep so I can't be sure of their rating, but I can say the front shields are 3 times stronger than the ones on the back.
Just from the ship as it is it seems he is going to be a Mercenary/ Bounty hunter/ High Value courier. Bastille and I have decided to be Low Volume Transporters. With the occasional Bounty.
Lately Bastille and I have been going over the Galactic news trying to find out where we are in the time line to that of what we know.
From all appearances it seems that we are about 1 year before the Blockade of Naboo and the creation of the Clone army. So through some amazing technical Know how from Mom, Bastille and I now have a Hack drive that can open/bypass all electronic locks and get in to almost any connected system. So in about 18 to 20 months we need to get to Kamino to adjust Order 66 from Kill to Detain all Jedi. That's going to be fun.
Right now we are7 Days from Shipping out. Every things is packed and on the ship. Our Nany Na-Ni Bot is ready 'She' is a modified BD 3000. She looks Human and Acts like a Human. She has synthetic skin with a minor self repair function, and synthetic organs. One of the key quirks that shows that she is not Human is her inability to understand sarcasm and she never gets tired. Another thing is her walk. She has three modes. The 'Your in trouble mister'. The 'your in trouble missy'. And 'The Walk.' the walk was more of a sexy sway. I know what is happening but I don't feel it yet. Thank goodness I'm not at puberty yet.
Well we have a nice last few days with my parents. They give us a few more gifts that they think we will need. Like a small stash of rare materials. A large database of things that I can program my Forge to build, and a program to make or modify new tech. Right now I am working on two new systems.
1st Is a top mounted turret and two wing mounted Beam Projectors (see Chapter 13)
2nd Is a ball mounted anti-personnel twin barrel Blaster mounted in a gimbal with sliding panels to hide their existence.
As we had a few days Bastille and I Decided to go on a quick shake down run with the ship fully loaded. We have taken it out before but now we are going to live in it for a few days, and see if we need any thing changed. If all goes well then on day 6 we come back to the Mega-Miner to Give Mom and Dad a hug before blasting off to our next destination. I'm voting for Nar Shaddaa to sign up as bounty hunters before going elsewhere. Bastille wants Coruscant so she can visit the Temple and check on the history of the Jedi since the last time she was here.
Speaking of Jedi, Bastille is beyond Master level now in skills and my skills are barely up to knight level. Sure I can use Telekinesis, Force Enhance, Tech talk, and limited danger precognition. Bastille can do all of that and more though her Tech Talk is limited to "hey there is a droid there". The freakiest is her battle meditation. When she is doing it you know exactly what you need to do to get a task done and what is coming your way and when.
The best thing is our Force link. We can talk to each other no matter where we are, and know how the other is doing. Now if 'Rise of Skywalker is correct' we will eventually be able to summon each other from anywhere in the galaxy. Now who wants to play the damsel in distress. (Insert Maniacal laugh here.)
A Yoda plushy smacks me in the back of the head.

I guess that's a no on the dress up Bastille as a Damsel to get captured by pirates. Maybe just in private then. Meh.
Ah, well. We boarded the ship and proceeded to launch.
"Traffic control this is Experimental 1, requesting launch." Bastille requested
"Eddie when are you going to name that ship?"
"Dad... come on I want it to be a good name and not like one of those ships owned by a frigan pounce or adult with 8th grade syndrome."
"Well you are going to give it a name before you leave or I am registering it as 'Rainbow Fart' and be done with it. Experimental 1 is already taken any ways."
"Unfortunately sweetie so is 'Rainbow Fart'. But we can go with 'Vanishing Varmints a Vomiting' you know if we want a sickly sweet critter."
"Don't worry Mom, I'll make sure he gets it named before we come back"
"Sweetie, she just called me mom!"
And then we heard a 'blugf?!' and then communications went dead.
"I just love your Mom."
"Well soon enough she will be your Mom too."
Bastille leans over and kissed me as I'm navigating the ship out of the landing bay. My muscles locked up so I didn't hit anything but my flight curve got a bit flat there for a moment. But I soon recovered and set a course around the slowly cooling planet and back. For the first few hours we went over the ships stats and checking all of the expenditure and recovery or refresh of consumables. Everything looked good so we set alarms to inform us if anything changed. Then leaned our chairs back and I grabbed her hand while watching the stars go by.
Hours later we had Na-Ni take over piloting while we went to the galley to have Dinner. After our dishes were washed we went back to the cockpit and set up status alarms and a few other warning klaxons to make us aware in a timely manner for unfortunate but foreseen circumstances. Then we went to bed and had a lengthy conversation on what we wanted to do in the future, and names for the ship.
Before finally falling asleep we discussed several things we wanted to do.
1st Join the Queens group to Tatooine. Seems like an adventure.
Upgrade the ship (main Weapons)
2nd change Order 66
Upgrade the ship (anti personnel)
3rd start up transportation operations
Upgrade the ship (engines)
4th up set some pirates
Those goals should last us a year or two. We never got around to naming the ship before we fell asleep...

in other news, I changed a few things like the class of the Hyper drive relative to how fast it can go. at first i wanted it to be a bell curve where the rate of change was inverse to the class of hyper drive, where the longer you were in hyper drive the faster you were going. But figuring out a mathmatical equation to follow was going nowhere fast. then i thought of the wondreful tangent. then i just had to get it going the right way and in the right place. so i came to the following equation.

Y=Parsecs per hour
X=Class of hyperdrive
sublight speeds are limited by either counter grave or engine outputs.
