Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - Numere Wetlands
Quite a few people gave up midway including Mario, Penny and Aject.
"Damn It, This isn't over Mach" Mario conplained.
"Good Luck Young Master Mach" Penny encouraged me. I could feel her emotions.
"I apologized for my incompetence young master Mach" Aject felt demented.
"It's Alright, you guys are the best of the best. You have nothing to apologize for. And Mario, If you want the family business its yours, I have no interest in it." Mach left after waving his Hand.
Soon in probably another 15 minutes, Mach and the Gang approached the stairs. Gon and Killua looked at me because the skate can't be used anymore. "It's alright, I have rested enough" He pretty much recovered half his stamina. I result of constant struggle for the last 5 years.
During the stair climb, everyone talked about why they wanted to be a hunter.
"The spider troupe killed my family, I want to avenge them."
"I am looking for my father"
"I didn't come here for any reason, but I want friends."
"I wanna go in adventures with my friends"
When Leorio's turn came, he said,
"I want money, all the perks of being a hunter. I want to live an easy life." An arguement broke out between leorio and kurapika over leorio's Ideals and Morals.
"My childhood friend was sick, It was a curable disease. If only we had enough money. That's why I will become a hunter and give free treatment to everyone."
"Leorio's a Tsundre" Mach spoke, he never noticed this before in the anime but Kurapika was like a Lone wolf, Leorio was the Tsundre/Maiden need to rescue and Killua and Gon played the straight man and Funny man roles.
Everyone realised this was true,
"Hahaha, That's right. Leorio I am sorry about what I said earlier, I take it back. You're a Fine Tsundre." Kurapika joked.
The serious and tense mood from before completely disappeared, the others who overheard mach also started laughing.
Leorio screamed "I am not a tsundre". His voice echoed in the entire Cave. Mach, gon, killua and kurapika laughed even more, their laughs echoing.
Mario recognised the voice mixed in the laugh, he gritted his teeth. He lost to Mach again like every other time. Be it School or Sports, Mach was always first. Mario always had to be satisfied with the Runner up place.
Others he did not hear mach and Gang's conversation thought they went crazy. Who in their right minds would laugh right now.
"Hmm, Am I Being too leinient on them? Maybe I should speed up." Hearing Satitz-san speaking his thoughts, the rest of the Participants started cursing Mach and Gang until they looked at them and they could no longer hate 3 children giving their best, drenched in sweat.
"There you can see the Exit" Killua exclaimed. Gon replied, "Let's have a race, the loser buys a Meal to the Winner"
Gon and Killua sped up, Mach used nen to keep up with them. This run of his life was probably his best in the last 5 years of gruel struggle.
"Goal" x3
Gon overtook Satotz-san from the Left, Killua overtook satotz-san from the right and Mach jumped overhead satotz-san.
"I was First" x3, Gon and Mach cried out together.
"Stupid, I was First" Killua said.
"Satotz-san, Who came first?" Mach asked
"Hmm, from my perspective all three of you reached outside at the same time."
"Then, I will buy both of you a meal, and then Killua and Mach will buy us meals."
After waiting for a short while,
*drrr* The door slowly closed. A few people saw the door close in front of them. Leorio and Kurapika made it, surprisingly, Mario made one last spurt of hate. Nevertheless, the door closed in front of his face, his last moments he saw mach jolly talking with his new friends.
Satotz-san spoke up,"Now then, In front of us is the Numere Wetlands. The animals here are known to decieve and kill humans frequently. So stick close to me."
"He's lying, I am the real Examiner. That is a skinny monkey, they look like humans and decieve them into the wetlands. Look" The man brought out a Skinny Monkey.
"No way, who is the real examiner?" Leorio was honestly confused. Mach could only sigh at this, he spoke his thoughts loudly "There were quite a few ways if one wanted to find out, for eg- asking the 7 wonders of the world or a difficult math problem or even asking for their photos. Surely the monkeys can't pass any of them. Especially the last one, the monkeys have spent their entire lives in forest, I doubt they even have a phone."
"Yeah, Yeah. What's the Cube of 7? Tell us the 7 Wonders of the World and Einstein's famous equation"
"343, The 7 wonders of world are-
1. World Tree
2. Magna Building
3. Kurta clan's scarlet eyes
4. Itza castle
5. Hell fire Pit
6. Picasso's Painting "Hidden World"
7. Beach Diamond
and E=mc²" x2
Both of them answered correctly, the participants were confused again until
*Swipe* *Swipe* Hisoka threw cards at both of them. The new guy died, but satotz-san caught the cards.
"The Examiners are not hunters we seek to become, but they qualified to be our examiners." He meant not any random guy that could be easily threatened or coerced could be hunter, especially considering what was coming next.
"I will forgive you this time, but should this happen again you will be disqualified." Satotz-san warned him.
"Got it" hisoka responded.
The earlier spurt exhausted mach again. This time ponzu chose to carry him.
"Heavy"
"Yeah I weight 43kgs, can you handle that much weight?"
"Yeah, Its okay"
On their way they encounter Hisoka, who is surrounded by a group of candidates who have an unsettled dispute with hisoka, but his easily wipes the floor with the group.
Mach tells them to continue running, but hisoka was way too fast. He finished them all before they get out of his eyesight. The group splits in three, Leorio, Kurapika and Mach and Ponzu.
Hisoka chases after Mach and Ponzu. Being unable to run, ponzu releasis her bees, but hisoka grabs them in his bungee gum technique and sticks them too a tree. Ponzu is stupified as to way her bees aren't following her commands instead remain on a tree trunk. As expected, they badly beaten by hisoka.
Gon, who got separated from Killua, arrives and hits Hisoka in the face with his fishing rod before he could kill Mach. After the initial hit, Gon nearly gets strangled by Hisoka, but, after concluding that they have passed his "test" where he roleplayed as an examiner, Hisoka lets them go.
After another hour of rest, mach starts running again, on his way he took some fruits to eat. As gon had sampled many fruits and herbs on the mountains, the fruits passed through gon's checking to decide they were edible or not, he also grabbed some eggs for everyone to eat.
Gon, Ponzu and Mach reunite with Leorio, Killua and Kurapika at the Phase Two site.
