Chapter 34: His Drunken Memory

Qin Zhan chuckled as he continued to watch the woman who seemed to shrink her body against the wall. He could not figure out why, but he seemed to enjoy teasing this woman.

He found that Gu Xin Ye was a strange person. She would often cower when he approached.

Each time that he saw her like this, Qin Zhan would wonder if he was such a scary man.

However, through his drunken memory, Qin Zhan seemed to recall that Gu Xin Ye was not always this coward. On that day, he ran into her on the west side of the town and accidentally drank too much. He was drunk and this woman seemed to have changed her face. He could not remember what she had said, but he could vaguely remember how she had scolded him.

Then, she ruthlessly shoved him into his car.

But on the next day, this woman had pretended that nothing had happened. It was as if the person who had scolded him had disappeared.

Her strange behavior made him wonder just what it is that she was trying to hide from him.

Qin Zhan was curious, but he knew that once he voiced his suspicion, Gu Xin Ye would hide.

The man's piercing eyes continued to watch her, frightening her. Gu Xin Ye could feel her heartbeat thumping loudly against her ribcage. She raised her hand and gave his chest a gentle push. "Boss Qin, what are you trying to do? You're invading my personal space." Her voice trembled as she spoke.

Gu Xin Ye inhaled a deep breath when the man leaned over. Qin Zhan was too close that she could smell the faint fragrant of his shower gel.

Her eyes widened in surprise. Gu Xin Ye could not help but think that their pose was too ambiguous. There were still under-aged kids around. What was this person trying to do?

Gu Xin Ye closed her eyes. Just in time, she heard the sound of the cutleries rattling behind her.

Sensing that the man had stepped back, Gu Xin Ye opened her eyes again.

In front of her, Qin Zhan was holding the basket of the chopstick that she had wiped.

Her mind went blank.

"Miss Gu, I asked you to pass the chopsticks, but it seemed that your mind was somewhere else." A teasing smile curled on his lips. "It was almost time for the customers to arrive. Pay attention next time."

Gu Xin Ye watched as the man turned around carrying the basket of chopsticks before he placed them on the table.

Her heart was still beating rapidly and she had to force herself to calm down.

A thought came to her mind and she quickly looked at the table where Mo Cheng Feng and his family were sitting earlier. To her surprise, the man was no longer around. His car had long left the place.

Gu Xin Ye let out a breath of relief. She was still worried that Mo Cheng Feng would recognize her. Now that the man was gone, she could continue to move around without trying to hide.

The first customer soon arrived and the crowd began to build.

Gu Xin Ye watched as the people lined up in front of the stall helplessly.

Although she had seen this scenery before, she still find it hard to believe the customers came in their big, expensive cars to taste the beef noodle soup.

The noodle stall was very popular that it was listed as a place to visit when one came to Z Town.

At this time, Luo Qi was busy taking orders from the customers while Luo Jun was busy preparing the drink order and cleaning up the table after a customer had left.

Gu Xin Ye watched the kids work with such speed in awe.

Meanwhile, as a person who did not have much experience, Gu Xin Ye was tasked to wash the bowl and cutleries for them to use again.

After washing the bowls a few times, her speed was considered passable. At least, she did not stop the production.

"Luo Qi, order." Behind the counter, Qin Zhan was preparing the noodles with a serious look on his face. The worked on the noodle and sliced the beef with his cleaver without stopping.

More customers stopped by and Gu Xin Ye began to panic.

It seemed that there are many customers coming to visit the stall today compared to the last time.

Her fingers started to prune but Gu Xin Ye continued to wash the bowls as quickly as she can.

"Luo Qi!"

Qin Zhan's voice was a little louder this time.

Gu Xin Ye raised her head and looked around. However, she could not see Luo Qi at the stall.

"Little Uncle, my sister left for an emergency," Luo Jun shouted. He came over to Qin Zhan and whispered, "My sister had her period. She went to change her clothes."

Qin Zhan frowned. However, he knew well that there was nothing he could do about it. He could not possibly let his niece walk around the stall with her stained pants.

However, the crowd continued to build and they were short-staffed.

This situation was making him exasperate. His hands continued to slice the beef on the chopping board while he tried to think of a solution. He could not let Luo Jun work alone and he could not leave his station.

At this time, Qin Zhan caught the sight of Gu Xin Ye who was squatting at the side to wash the bowl.

"Gu Xin Ye!" Qin Zhan shouted her name the way he often shouted at his commis while working in the hotel's kitchen.

"Yes!"

His voice startled her. Gu Xin Ye raised her head and her heartbeat accelerated. This was the first time that Qin Zhan had used this tone to call her name and it was scaring her. Her instinct told her that this man was going to scold her for being too slow.

Qin Zhan pursed his lips as he threw the sliced beef into the bowl. Then, he poured the soup into the noodle and raised his head to meet Gu Xin Ye's eyes. "Luo Qi is unavailable. You help me to serve the noodles with Luo Qi."

Her eyes widened.

Qin Zhan was going to let her serve the customers?
