Chapter 3: Askalaphos

"Huh?" Hades was filled in confusion as he lifted his head, looking in the sky, and his eyes widened when he saw the humongous screech-owl hovering in the sky while covered with a dark aura. 'Askal?!'

Upon seeing the large creature, Hades' minds rapidly work, making a decision in his head. Then, after a couple of seconds, he faced the villagers without a hint of embarrassment and screamed out, "I'm sorry for being an idiot. Hence, let me use my life for the last time, I hope you don't forget this idiot youth. Farewell!"

Hades ended his dialogue as he immediately turned around while waving his right hand in the air, running deep in the ruined forest.

"Hey, big bird! You're a chicken if you can't chase me!" Hades yelled as he increased his speed. As though it was infuriated by his mocked, the humongous screech-owl chased behind him.

Witnessing Hades' action, the villagers were stunned for a moment, as though they're hearing things. However, their senses immediately came back to them when they saw Hades' act and they were overwhelmed by it as they shouted in unison, hoping to stop Hades's for sacrificing himself while some of them are thanking him in their hearts.

"Wait, Young Man. No, Hades! Don't do it!"

"No, you don't need to do this."

"Thank you, we won't forget your kindness, Mr. Hades!"

As he heard their voices in the distance, Hades couldn't help but grin inwardly as he lifted his head, staring at the screech-owl in the air. 'Now, it's time to punish this bird for making me an idiot in front of the villagers!'

After a few moments, Hades eventually arrived in the middle of the forest. Stopping on his feet, he then turned around facing the huge screech-owl who just reached the ground. The two were silently staring at each other for a moment before Hades broke the silence. "What are you doing here, Askalaphos?!"

"And you dared to make me lose face in the front of the villagers? It seems like you missed to be punished, eh? Shall I do it now?" Hades spoke as his voice grew louder and colder, seemingly furious about what happened earlier.

Upon hearing Hades's voice, Askal suddenly turned to a 1-8 meter tall, shoulder-length brown-haired man in his early twenties, and hurriedly said in panic. "Wait, wait, young master! Please, calm your anger. L-Let me explain myself first."

Hades frowned upon seeing the same height, g00d-looking man in bronze warrior armor in his front who hurriedly kneeled down before him. Since it already happened, Hades doesn't have any choice but to ease his anger, and relaxed his frowning brows.

"Go, explain yourself. If I did not like your excuse then, you can now forget to be my familiar!"

"Thank you, young master!" Askal gratefully said as he kowtowed before Hades, as though he was given another life. He then kept his head lower and said, "It's like this, one year ago, after the world's hero reportedly killed you, we, your familiars and attendants decided to hide from the surface. Though, at first, we decided to get a revenge for you. However, Hypnos stated that young master wouldn't be happy if you found out that something bad happens to the World's Hero. Thus, for that reason, we decided to hide and wait for your comeback. We, your servants scattered around the world. Then, I was closed by here when I felt young master's aura. Hence, I hurriedly flew here to welcome you back. However, I didn't know that you're up to something, young master. Please, forgive me."

Askal ended his long explanation with a kowtow, putting his forehead on the ground, waiting for Hades's response.

"I see. I almost forget about you guys, my bad. You can stand up now, just remember to don't show your real self in the human continent. Remember, they all know that I'm already dead, understood?" Hades said while waving up his right hand, indicating for Askal to stand up before he turned around, looking ahead in the distance.

"Thank you, young master." Standing right beside Hades, Askal couldn't stop his curiosity as he decided to ask his young master. "Uhm. Young master? What is your plan now that you're back? Would you want me to gather everyone here?"

"No, you don't need to do that. Just let them rest for the time being. They deserved it."

"I understand." Askal immediately replied without a question but, waiting for Hades's command.

"What I want you to do is help me to make a good reputation in the Humans Continent."Hades stated which greatly confused Askal.

"Pardon? Why are we doing that young master?"

"Simple. To make my precious Persephone fall in love with me." Hades responded as he flashed a small smile while imagining the things he wanted to do when he finally got the love of his life.

"Ah, I understand young master. You want me to attack the humans' habitants and you will come at the perfect timing to save them?" Askal nodded his head while holding his chin as though he fully understand Hades plans.

Hades also nodded his head, along with Askal while saying, "Yea. That's a good idea but, NO!!!" He ended with a heavy punch on Askal's head, who's on the verge of crying. "We're not doing in that way. I want to make a reputation not just by myself but also by the people around me. We're doing it in humans' way."

"But, how?" Askal lifted his brows before he inquired while holding his aching head.

"I don't know yet. We need to investigate first, what is the fastest way to make a good reputation without revealing our identities."

"So, where are we going now, Young Master?"

"Hmm?" Hades didn't answer immediately but, contemplated in his head for a moment. Then, after a moment, "Let's go to the nearest town first, we can't go back to that village again."

Upon hearing his answer, Askal quickly nodded his head and was about to transform back to his beast form. However, he was immediately halted by Hades's words.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

"Transforming back to my beast form?" Askal answered in confusion, unsure about Hades' question.

"For what?"

"To travel quickly?" Askal responded once again.

"NO! Like what I said earlier. We're human now. So, stop using your demon power from this day onward, you get me?" Hades stated which confused Askal even more. However, since he doesn't have any choice but to comply, he just nodded his head in understanding.

"Okay, let's go!"
