Only when he stopped smiling and stared straight at her, attracting her inside with his gaze, did she realize that her answer was too simple.
"Ahem," she coughed and explained. "I meant that CEO Bai isn't some kind of monster…"
Su Xiqin suddenly paused as she realized that the conversation was going in the wrong direction.
Bai Yansen's slightly curled lips made Su Xiqin feel like she was being teased, so she looked away and stopped talking.
"Your whole body is on the door, and you are still denying it?" Bai Yansen's deep voice came through when she turned away.
Su Xiqin couldn't keep a straight face after hearing that, and she glanced at him and saw that his gaze was still focused on her in a casual way. She looked down and pretended to be calm as she straightened her body.
The distance between them got closer, and she could smell a faint cigarette scent from him. He had probably just done smoking.
Mo Xigu smoked as well, but he also carried the scent of other women. Bai Yansen didn't; it was a pure tobacco scent.
"The design process that follows will be important, so whatever is on your mind right now, put it aside and focus on the design itself. Give it all you have," Bai Yansen said to Su Xiqin, who was still blanking out.
Su Xiqin's thoughts went back on track as she glanced at him again, and he didn't look like he was joking, looking serious instead.
"Don't worry, CEO Bai, I will follow thoroughly with this project," she replied in the same serious tone.
The car went into dead silence once more, and Su Xiqin felt uneasy again as she suddenly heaved a long sigh and raised her head.
"CEO Bai, I have a question, but I don't know if I should ask it or not."
"Is it about why I changed my mind and gave you the contract?" Bai Yansen said with his eyes still closed.
Did he read my mind? Su Xiqin was surprised. But since he had guessed right, she wasn't going to deny it.
"Yes, I remember you said the other day that the Mo Corporation would not get this contract."
Suddenly, those eyes deep like the ocean opened up, and their eyes ran into each other's.
A piano melody sounded all of the sudden, but Bai Yansen didn't move his gaze away, so Su Xiqin reminded him. "You've got a phone call."
He reached into the side door pocket for the ringing phone, and he narrowed his brows when he saw the caller ID.
Su Xiqin let out a sigh of relief after he had turned away as she panicked a bit when he stared at her like that.
She turned her head away but could still hear his voice softly. "I left already. I'm busy. You head back first."
Then, he hung up with a "beep" and threw the phone back into the side door pocket.
The atmosphere returned to calmness, and Su Xiqin turned back to Bai Yansen as she wanted to continue their conversation.
However, her words didn't come out when she saw Bai Yansen resting on the backseat with his eyes closed.
Then, she remembered that Mo Xigu had already broken their promise, and what would happen if she asked for the reason anyways? Bai Yansen had a skeptical personality, and it would raise his suspicion if she didn't let go of this question. Whatever, I won't ask.
Like Ji Qingyang had said, Zhuosheng wouldn't miss a good design.
Besides, this was a good chance for her. Once the project had been completed, she would receive a considerable amount of money which she needed. At the same time, she could get more experience through this opportunity as long as she grabbed onto it.
Having thought that, Su Xiqin turned her head back and looked out the window.
"Why did you stop asking?" Bai Yansen asked in his deep voice the moment she turned her head.
So not only could he read minds, he's also got x-ray eyes. What a man.
She turned her head and looked at him who still had his eyes closed as she said indifferently, "I believe that the Zhuosheng Corporation takes importance in the design itself."
Bai Yansen opened his eyes and stared at her quietly with those deep eyes; it was difficult to guess what he was thinking. Su Xiqin felt uneasy from his glare, so she fixed the hair beside her ear and looked away.
She didn't know that her pale face was blushing red from the nervousness she felt early-on, and her long and dense eyelashes fluttered up and down, looking seductive.
His gaze became deeper, and Su Xiqin couldn't manage to make any further eye contact. But the moment she turned her head away, she was grabbed by a powerful force and then embraced in a hot hug the next second.
Su Xiqin widened her eyes in surprise. His face was inches away, and In the reflection of his dark and misty eyes, her figure left a stunning mark.
Su Xiqin was lost for a second, but his heated body temperature gathered back her consciousness as her hands reached out to his chest, trying to push him away.
"CEO Bai, please behave yourself."
Bai Yansen's expression remained the same, but his voice turned cold as he said softly. "What if I said I don't know how to behave?"
Su Xiqin pinched her brows as her watery eyes appeared panicked and skeptical at the same time as she looked into his eyes; she pushed again to get away.
"Let go, " Su Xiqin shouted softly in an embarrassed and angry tone. She twisted her body, trying to get away, but her faint fresh scent got carried into Bai Yansen's nose.
At a close distance, her pale complexion was tinted by a blush of pink, her soft lips were slightly pouted, and her eyes were watery as always. Bai Yansen's gaze deepened, and one of his hands suddenly moved from her waist to her head as he bent over in her direction.
Just when Bai Yansen's lips were about to reach Su Xiqin's, the car suddenly braked, and the two lost balance as they leaned in a forward motion.
Bai Yansen's forehead hit the shade, and he furrowed his brows from the pain.
Su Xiqin saw this as a chance and pushed Bai Yansen to the side. Once his hands were off her, she immediately straightened her body to sit by the car door and stared at him with alertness in her eyes.
Bai Yansen looked at Su Xiqin's gesture, and his expression hardened especially when he saw the alertness and anger in her eyes. He pressed the button to open up the shade.
"Do you know how to drive?" His mad voice shocked Jiang Cunyu, and the latter looked at the rearview mirror.
"CEO Bai, there was a car in front," Jiang Cunyu stuttered and explained.
Su Xiqin saw that the shade was lowered and immediately said, "Assistant Jiang, please just drop me off right here."
Jiang Cunyu looked at Su Xiqin and then at Bai Yansen's straightface through the rearview mirror. He was a smart man, and he had heard that there was a slight argument before, so he didn't dare to make a decision.
"Ms. Su, I can't park here."
"Let her off," Bai Yansen suddenly ordered in a cold voice.
Guessed wrong this time, Jiang Cunyu thought.
The car pulled over at the curb, and Su Xiqin opened the door and quickly got off. She watched the car take off and leave, not knowing how to feel inside.
She was a married woman, so what else could Bai Yansen want other than playing with her? She wouldn't depreciate herself.
Nor would she be like Mo Xigu to have an affair, because if she did that, then she would be no different from him, even though he already thought that she had cheated on him.
