Chapter 19: Chapter 18 The Acolyte

Felix (Pov)

I felt a hint of longing in my chest. Begging me to join my new sister and mother. However, I have order's from my mother and I won't disappoint her.

Before I could take a step towards the church my shadow sprang up, revealing an exact copy of mother, Cinder.

"It is good to meet you brother. My master forgot to tell you the truth of what happened at the Guild Hall. Under no circumstances are you to repeat this to anyone other than Yuri, do you understand?" Stated my new sister.

"I understand," and after a lengthy 10 minutes, I swore to myself that I would take this secret to my grave. Mother must feel awful having inadvertently caused a permanent transformation to her daughter.

"Thank you sister, I must go talk to the girl now." With that, she disappeared back into my shadow. Leaving me alone with my thoughts.

As I walked through the halls of the church I pondered on what to do next. Mother said she needed a high ranking church official in her grasp, but for what cause? If I am not permitted to create a royal guard*, then what use am I to her?

Reaching the fox girls' door broke me from my thoughts.

"Has she woken up yet?" I asked the priest standing guard.

"Yes, sir. She seemed quite frantic, spewing tales of a shadow dimension and a vampire. Ha, as if that were possible. We eradicated those filthy creatures from this holy nation centuries ago."

"Yes, quite." Grinning inwardly, if only he knew there was a Royal blood standing in front of him.

Opening the door, I walked in. Now was the time to see whether the Coven would gain its first Royal Guard or I would get my next meal.

Yuri (Pov)

"I'm sorry, I'll try not to kill you."

"Gasp." My eyes shot open as I leaped from the bed. Frantically looking around. My eyes immediately locked onto a woman sitting on a chair across from me.

"Where am I, who are you?!" I hastily asked the woman, while standing, and backing up away from the woman.

"Shhh, you are alright. You are in the Temple of War, Archbishop Ash and her apprentice brought you. My name is Estelle, I am a Cleric for this temple and was brought in to treat you. You seem to be in perfect health, although you lost a lot of blood in the fight so you'll need to rest."

Blood….

That's right, it wasn't a nightmare. I quickly reached to my neck, expecting bite marks. Only to find smooth unblemished skin. Wait, what fight?

"What fight? There was only a small skirmish between a noble and a, an angel. I think that's what she was." I mumbled to myself looking down at my hands.

Estelle let out a small gasp.

"You don't remember, or perhaps you weren't conscious. That's probably for the best, from what I was told. The Guildmaster attacked Archbishop Ash's disciple, Seras, the angel you mentioned earlier. He ripped off her lower wings and cut off the tips of your ears and one of your tails. Luckily Archbishop Ash arrived in time to stop him from killing her and was able to heal you both."

My eyes widened in shock, before hurriedly reaching for my tails. Three pristine red tails waved in front of me, thank Freyja.

"Wait, but that's not what happened. Think Yuri, think." Banging my hands against my head.

"Yeah, the ang….Seras grabbed the Guildmaster's hand as well as mine and pulled us into a shadow dimension. It looked exactly like the guild except nobody was there….and and. Oh my god, she's a vampire! She drank from me, I remember." I practically screamed in Estelle's disbelieving face.

Camly she started to chant, and a dark blue light filled the room.

"I think you need more rest, there are no vampires and if there was the church would have hunted it down, not take it as a disciple. Now sleep, I'll leave a priest right outside the door if you need anything." She said in a soothing voice as my eyelids slowly shut. Driving the panic from my mind as I drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

Slowly I awoke to the door opening up and footsteps walking towards me. Remembering the conversation I had with Estelle I shot right up, again. Before I could open my mouth the person silenced me. No, not just cut me off, he cast a spell silencing the entire room.

"I'm sure you have many questions, and I will answer them to the best of my abilities but first I must introduce myself and tell you a story. I am Archbishop Felix Fe…., no; Bishop Felix Victoria, and I, am a Vampire."

I opened my mouth to scream, only for silence to greet my ears. He glanced up at me, having been telling his story while looking at his hands.

"Calm down, I'm under orders not to turn anyone. Now I was recently turned into a vampire by an Ancestor, I'm sure you are aware of what that means. When she released her aura in the guild she unknowingly created a desire to feed. She couldn't feed in public but she couldn't just drag you away for no reason. So she grabbed the Guildmaster and you and took you to the shadow realm.

Once there she fed on you, as you can see she did not kill you and had the self-restraint to stop. From what she said, that was quite the accomplishment. Apparently, you taste divine." Licking his lips as he shook his head.

"Sorry, I'm getting off-topic. When the Guildmaster saw her for what she was he attacked. She knew she couldn't face him and win so she ripped off her lower wings and cut off your tails and ears before fleeing through a rift into the guild. She then acted as if it was the Guildmaster who attacked and conned the whole guild into helping a vampire. Archbishop Ash arrived and enraged by what she saw killed the Guildmaster before healing you both. Before you ask, Yes, Archbishop Ash is a Vampire as well."

My god, this is a lot to take in. One of the most ruthless creatures on the planet is sitting in front of me. If an Ancestral Vampire really is back then there will be a huge power shift soon. She already has two Archbishops at her disposal and who knows what else. I looked back into his glowing red eyes only to look down immediately. Hunger is the best word to describe what I saw in the brief glimpse of his eyes.

"You were ordered not to turn anyone, but you were also ordered to kill me if I didn't join you, weren't you?" He grinned, two pointed fangs showing.

"Well aren't you a smart one. Yes, if you are not willing to join the Coven then I am ordered to drain every last drop of blood you hold."

Well, shit. I don't want to die, but I also don't want to become a vampire.

"Can I sign a magic contract stating that I won't tell anyone what has transpired today? Then we both can walk away, like nothing happened." His once grinning face turned into a thoughtful gaze before once again grinning as he spoke to me.

"Do you know what I was before a vampire, I was a demon. Which means if you are willing to sign a Contract to become an Acolyte to the Coven of the Tribulations of Blood I would not turn you or kill you. My mother should be agreeable with those terms."

Shit, shit, shit. He's a demon! How the hell does the church not know they have a demon working in their midst. If it was a magical contract you can find ways around them and break them, but a demon contract. Fuck.

Sighing heavily I looked him straight in the eyes.

"What are the terms of the contract?" If the grin on his face got any bigger it would split his face in two.

Waving his hand a black piece of parchment appeared in the air with a silver knife alongside it.

"What is your full name?" He asked in a serious tone, the wild grin he previously had turned into an almost somber face.

"Yuri Kosaka."

"Do you Yuri Kosaka of sound mind and body willingly agree to become an Acolyte of the Coven of the Tribulations of Blood? To be fed upon as long as the Coven keeps you alive and protects you? To hold up its traditions and to follow all commands by the Ancestor Seras Victoria? To never betray the Coven's secrets knowingly and to pledge your blood and mind to the Coven as long as you live?"

Is this really the best option, yes, I don't want to become a vampire and I don't want to die. If all they want is to drink from me, then so be it.

"I agree so long as all members of the Coven, present, and future respect me. They will ask if they can drink from me and not force me to do their bidding, aside from Ancestor Seras Victoria." He grinned, before picking up the silver knife and cutting his finger, and signing his name at the bottom of the parchment which had written down the terms of our agreement.

Passing the knife to me I cut my finger and signed the contract. As soon as my finger left the parchment flaming white chains sprang from it. Plunging into my body, looking up I saw that the same had happened to the demon across from me.

"The contract has been sealed, welcome to the coven Acolyte Yuri."
