Chapter 5: High School
Two weeks before my first day of high school I went to band camp. I know that sounds really nerdy but it was really fun and lots of cool music. I had so much fun playing my instrument and meeting new people. We had marching drills everyday except the weekends till the day of school started. I even had a really nice tan but a sun burn on my face because I forgot too put sunscreen there. After band camp came freshman orientation and when I tried to go sit with my sports friends from middle school the one girl I hung out the most with pretended to not know me and laughed at me. So I just went to go sit with a close band friend named Evan and after orientation we went to find our classes.
My first period I had with Kaitlynn and some other kids that I didn't really know. We had some much fun in that class from coloring book projects because both of us are good at art. Well I'm more of a architectural art person and she was more free style art. We both likes that class but the teacher was that type of teacher to choose favorites. I also had 3rd period with Kaitlynn but we had the worst health teacher on campus. Who did not like me at all because I ended up tripping her with my crutches.
My 2nd period class was math which was pretty fun since I had a good amount of people in that class that I knew and the teacher never actually checked my work so I got 100% both semesters.
My 4th,6th,and 7th periods were interesting classes PE was 4th,band was 6th,and lastly 7th period was Spanish class. To be honest the class that took the most energy out of me the whole year was jazz band because it was a class at 6:30am and it was an hour class. For the cross country team and I made the team because my mile time was 5:30 and they were following me around school trying to convince me to join. So I joined. Our first race was on September 9th I remember because it was my 15th birthday. I was running up the hill and I girl elbowed me in my nose and I rolled down side the mountain and hyper extended my knee on a tree. One of the guy runners from the next race saw me crawling back up the side of the mountain trying not to fall off more and he helped me up and carried me back to were my team was stationed and he wrapped my leg in a wooden splint. And on our way back home the team sang me happy birthday. When I got home around 5pm my family took me to the emergency room. I was told I'm no longer allowed to play sports again because my injury wasn't healing.
Over the year I became closer friends with kaitlynn and a couple other band kids because I was getting a lot of help on crutches. I did march in the marching show for band but I walked my entire part with my knee braces over my uniform. After all of the sports i liked were done in season I would just hangout out with friends. Eventually the year started to go by faster and faster and 9th grade year was coming to an end. I was okay with this year ending because we still had another 3 years together. And it was time for us to prepare for the next year which for me was another summer of band camp and instrument pray because I couldn't do sports anymore.
