Chapter 2: Gates and summons
It's been 8 years since that's happened and apparently I was reborn in the world of solo Leveling or I alone level up.
I'm the older brother of Sung Jin-woo by 2 years.
"Hyung-nim lets go play." Sung Jin-woo said before pulling me to go outside with him.
As I walked outside with my brother I thought about what the gift the black haired man told me he would give me was as I didn't get anything yet.
I've been trying to get prepared for when the gates open by doing simple workouts like jogging around my neighbourhood and doing sit ups and push ups.
My mother is still healthy and my father hasn't gone to any gates and my sister is fine aswell. We have a perfect functional family.

The gates finally opened and I'm already 16 years old. I was saving money for a while so I bought a combat knife and some food and drinks.
I snook out of my house at night time and made my was towards a gate that looks pretty weak from its size.
'It's probably an E rank gate' I thought before entering.
I entered and noticed an open room with a few small monsters gathered around it.
I felt my breath getting a bit faster from fear. 'I can do this. Remember how weak they were in the manga/novel.' I told myself as I walked towards the wall.
One of the dog monsters that were near me could smell me and started running towards me.
I swung down with my blade aiming for its head but I only hit its back.
"Shit" I thought while my hands were shaking from fear.
Before I could react the monster used its claws to scratch my arm.
"Ah shit!" I shouted while feeling the pain which was dulled a bit due to adrenaline.
I tried to ignore the pain and brought the blade back down on the beast. I stabbed its neck this time but from the pain of my arm it was a lot weaker and only went a few inches in.
It was on its stomach while I was in front of it . I pushed down the blade harder while the beast was scratching my legs.
"Ahhhhh" I shouted with my last burst of strength as I felt the blade go all the way through its neck avoiding any bone.
I was breathing in and out in a very rushed manner but I got up and tried to find the magical core of the beast.
Once I found it I sighed in relief and held it to my chest and passed out.
I regained consciousness a little while later feeling reenergised and not that sore probably because I'm a hunter. I hope.
I looked at my arm and legs while it was still bleeding it wasn't as serious as before.
"Where's my magic core?" I said while looking around to try find it. I looked everywhere but couldn't find it until I remembered that I held it by my chest before passing out.
"What?" I looked at my chest only to notice a mark of the E rank magical core it looked like a tattoo but I knew it wasn't as I never got one before.
"Is this the gift the black haired man told me about." When I was checking my body I suddenly felt my back pocket get a bit heavier.
"What's this?" I said while taking out a notebook that appeared in my pocket.
[A Gift From God] was the title.
I opened the first page to see some
writing and I sat down to read it.
[This will appear when you first gain a magic core.
At the moment you have 3 ways to use them.
1. Sell them for money
2. Absorb them and gain a percentage of their power.
3. If you gain enough magic cores from one beast it will show a mark on your body and if the you have the mark you can summon that beast. Depending on how dark the mark is will show how strong it is.
You can summon the beasts by thinking about it or saying a cool phrase like Sung Jin-Woo did]
When I flipped to the next page it was all blank.
"Hmm" so I can summon that monster. 'Summon..come on summon' when I finished thinking for a few minutes it finally appeared.
Beside me the dog monster that I was fighting a minute ago appeared right beside me. I flinched when I first saw it but I calmed down when it acted like a little puppy rubbing against my leg.
"When it not trying to kill you it's pretty cute." I said while rubbing it's head.
During all this another monster started walking towards us growing.
"Let's do this doggo." At this point my blade was a bit chipped but still worked nonetheless.
We both charged at the same time. But it looked a bit stronger than the on I just fought so it was able to bite my summon but while it was distracted I ran behind it and stabbed it in the neck.
"That was a lot easier than before." I said while breathing in and out.
I looked at my summon only to notice it was bleeding out on the floor.
"Shit, if I use a magical core will it heal." I said while taking out the magical core of the beast and putting it against my chest while thinking about adding it to the one I already have on my chest.
When I opened my eyes the magical core was gone from my hand and the mark looked a bit darker than before.
I looked at my summon and saw it was nearly healed fully.
"If I get more magical cores I can make myself and my summon stronger.
I steeled my resolve and continued forward with with my new summon to kill all the monsters in the dungeon.
