Chapter 47 — Shrek Seven Devils.
A few days later, the battle between the Emperor Team and the Mad Ant Team soon began.
Ning Chen didn't joined the fight between them and just watched at the spectator seat.
He also realized that a lot of nobles were watching and they all unhesitantly bet their money toward the Emperor Team.
It seemed like they were confident about them winning the fight.
And just like what they had predicted, the Emperor Team won the fight easily, making them rejoice over it.
The Mad Ant Team were stronger than average team, however, they weren't able to match with the noble and high rank spirits of the Emperor Team.
It was unfair, but fairness didn't even exist in the first place.

The Emperor Team soon celebrated after winning the match and they held it inside the most expensive restaurant.
Ning Chen and Qin Ming were also with them.
After the end of their celebration, Qin Ming clapped loudly and told all of them to listen to him.
The Emperor Team looked toward him and tilted their heads in puzzlement.
"Your next opponents have been decided and It will be held tomorrow, so you all must rest properly tonight. This is also their battle information," Qin Ming handed each of the Emperor Team with a piece of paper.
Ning Chen also asked for the paper because he was curious about the Emperor Team's next opponents.

He didn't expected the Emperor Team were gonna fight against his sister's team. He also was stunned to see the Three Five Combination being his sister's teammates.
It was truly interesting, as if the concept of fate was letting all of them to gather and meet here at one location.
"Seven Treasure Priestess? Is she related to you, Ning Chen?" Bai Chenxiang asked curiously.
She knew that Ning Chen was from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan and he was also the son of the clan's leader.
Ning Chen smiled and nodded faintly, "We are indeed related. She's my little sister."
Bai Chenxiang was surprised and then said enviously, "So you had a little sister. I also want to have one..."
The others were also surprised and Dugu Yan quickly asked him a question.
"Do you perhaps know anything about the other team?"
Ning Chen quickly shook his head and answered, "I only know about my sister joining an unknown academy and nothing else other than that."
They were slightly disappointed, but soon got over it.
"It's fine because the other team seems to be mediocre and weak. Their spirit ranks are lower than us with them only having iron badge. The only one we have to be careful is Ning Chen's sister," Yu Tianheng said leisurely.
"But you guys better not injure my sister badly because you all will suffer badly too," Ning Chen reminded them with a threatening voice.
The Emperor Team quickly nodded their heads while sweating slightly. They know just how cruel Ning Chen can get.
"Ai, don't worry too much about that. I will not let anyone injure your sister," Bai Chenxiang patted Ning Chen's shoulder while giggling lightly.
Ning Chen smiled hearing that and nodded his head.
Ahem!
Qin Ming coughed lightly to get all of their attention and said toward them, "Alright, you guys better prepare yourself and remember to not underestimate your opponents. Especially, you all better be cautious about the other team."
"Cautious? We don't need to do that, especially when they even have a vice captain with a blue silver grass trash spirit," Dugu Yan laughed mockingly.
Qin Ming sighed tiredly and then responded simply, "Just remember to not lose yourself to your own arrogance and also to not injure the other team heavily."
Bai Chenxiang nodded eagerly and pointed toward Xie Lingling, "We can do that easily! We even have Xie Lingling with us, the doctor!"
Xie Lingling just simply nodded her head slightly as a response.
"You are right, so I'll trust you guys to keep your words and the battle formation will be the usual. You guys can now leave and rest at the hotel," Qin Ming instructed toward them.
"Okay!" The Emperor Team answered briefly before leaving the restaurant.
However, Ning Chen and Qin Ming stayed for a few more minutes.
Ning Chen sipped at the tea and then questioned Qin Ming.
"Are you planning to make them suffer defeat in the upcoming match?"
Qin Ming's expression didn't changed much and sat nearby, "How did you came into that idea?
"I think the Shrek Seven Devils are formidable, especially when I know my sister deeply and having fought against two of their members. Right now, the Emperor Team have a fifty percent chances of winning."
Qin Ming laughed lightly and nodded after getting caught.
"You're indeed right, I'm planning on making them lose to people with lower ranks. It's all to wake them up from their arrogance and dream grander. Tell me, am I wrong about my decision?"
Ning Chen shook his head and responded quickly, "I don't know, but I think you're partly right."
"Then that's good to hear."
Ning Chen nodded and after drinking all of his tea, he left the restaurant to return toward the hotel.
He actually wanted to join the match, but he felt this match was gonna be important for the Emperor Team.
Ning Chen exited the restaurant and was then surprised to see Bai Chenxiang waiting for him.
Bai Chenxiang smiled faintly after seeing him and quickly approached him.
"Why are you still here?" Ning Chen asked while tilting his head.
He thought she had already returned toward the hotel.
"Nothing, I just wanted to return with you," Bai Chenxiang answered mysteriously.
"Hmm, okay," Ning Chen stared at her skeptically.
And while looking at Bai Chenxiang, Ning Chen suddenly thought of something.
The Emperor Team's defeat was something great and they would surely understand something, but what if they win?
Ning Chen was inwardly hoping for Bai Chenxiang and Xie Lingling to win the battle because they were his friends.
He had saw them earnestly working hard to grow stronger than anyone else.
Them suffering defeat just for the others were something he didn't liked to witness.
"Hey, if you win tomorrow, let's go on a date again, but this time it's real," Ning Chen said while smiling.
He was hoping his words would make Bai Chenxiang extremely motivated at the battle.
It might be the key for them winning the match.
However, he didn't realized what this truly meant, although he didn't meant any harm.

Bai Chenxiang was stunned for a moment before her cheeks reddened slightly.
She didn't expected to hear those words from Ning Chen.
"Hehehe, sure. I'll definitely win for you," Bai Chenxiang said while smiling cheekily.
She then abruptly kissed Ning Chen at his cheeks.
"What?" Ning Chen was dumbfounded and he quickly touched his cheeks.
He wasn't able to process anything at this moment.
"I swear to the heaven that I will try my best and win for you! You can also kiss me if I win," Bai Chenxiang shouted while already running away from Ning Chen.
"Geez... Why would she even kiss someone she doesn't like," Ning Chen grumbled, but then realized something.
No, it's impossible...

Ning Chen arrived at the Great Spirit Arena and watched the match from the spectators seat.
He then frowned as he felt many gazes directed at him.
Ning Chen looked around and found many thirsty women and men staring at him.
He then looked toward the popcorn and soda he was currently holding.
"Do you guys want it...?" He asked hesitantly, but he received no reply.
It seemed it wasn't because of his snacks, but something else.
Ning Chen then quickly realized why they were staring at him and he sighed helplessly.
But a smirk soon formed on his face and Ning Chen felt his handsome might was truly troublesome. Always attracting attentions.
Alas, Ning Chen decided to no longer pay attention to them and just focus on the match happening right now.
It was the match between Emperor Team and Shrek Seven Devils Team.
"You can do it, Bai Chenxiang and Xie Lingling! You too, Rong'er!" Ning Chen shouted loudly with his voice also laced with spirit power.
It was his new self-created spirit ability, Spirit Speech.
It made his voice sound domineering and also loud.
Everyone was quickly startled at Ning Chen's shout and stared at him weirdly.
Ning Chen merely smiled as a result and sat on his seat leisurely.
Bai Chenxiang's motivation was currently at the maximum limit. She was determined to win this battle at all cost.
Xie Lingling didn't react much, but Ning Rongrong was different.
She was overjoyed hearing her brother's domineering cheers.
The shrek didn't know Ning Chen and just wondered about his relation to Ning Rongrong.
Oscar just found Ning Chen strangely familiar, as if they had met before in the past.
However, they all stopped thinking about it and focused at the battle for now.
The match soon started.
And Ning Chen gotta say that the Shrek Seven Devils Team were pretty good.
The Shrek Seven Devils Team were seamless with their teamwork and their combat experiences were also quite good.
But the thing that truly set them apart from the Emperor Team was their foundation.
The Shrek Seven Devils Team had better and stronger physiques and also usage of their spirits.
Although the Emperor Team had a higher rank, they kept wasting it with the exception of Bai Chenxiang and Xie Lingling.
Tang San was also controlling the entire fight, causing many mistakes to be created by the Emperor Team.
The person Ning Chen was greatly disappointed at was Yu Tianheng.
He was the one who kept making mistakes, making him the sole problem of the Emperor Team.
He was at the start lured into a deadly trap and then wasted a lot of spirit power to escape, but still rendered to not being able to fight even with Xie Lingling's heal.
This infuriated Dugu Yan and she unleashed her 1,000-year old spirit ring, the violet-colored deadly poison called Jade Phosphor Violet Poison Fog to spread everywhere.
However much to Dugu Yan and Ning Chen's astonishment, Tang San destroyed it by only using alcohol and fire.
Xie Lingling was also moving around the stage, moving toward the safest spot herself and healing others from afar.
This caused the Shi Brothers to have an easier time to move around and pressuring Xiao Wu.
It was also the same with Ning Rongrong, which made Ning Chen proud of her.
She was supporting everyone even better than the food system boy next to her.
Ning Chen was then surprised as the match continued.
The Emperor Team were slowly pushing the Shrek Seven Devils Team into the corner even with Yu Tianheng only helping a bit.
Ning Chen was then astonished to see the tiger man and civet girl performing a spirit fusion after they were pushed into the corner.
A spirit fusion was something Ning Chen had never seen before and it was an amazing thing to witness.
The battle made Ning Chen slightly excited, but it was a pity that he couldn't join them.
He was merely a spectator who can watch them from a far.
The colossal white nether tiger with wings howled deafeningly toward Osler and Dugu Yan, causing them to cough a mouthful of blood and sent them flying out of the arena.
However, the spirit fusion ability also exhausted the tiger and civet duo, making them no longer have the ability to fight.
Bai Chenxiang was fighting against the evil chicken and although her spirit was suppressed by the chicken's spirit which was actually a phoenix, her physical strength made up for what she lacked.
Her seamless combination of physical attacks which was the fusion of her speed and power and also spirit rings abilities allowed her to defeat the chicken fatty in the end.
The Shi Brothers were fighting against Xiao Wu and their tortoise shells suddenly exploded into countless shrapnel, injuring Xiao Wu badly and knocking her out.
And of course, this angered a certain someone, causing him to activate his external spirit bones, the eight spider legs which was seven spider legs right now.
Tang San was able to poison the twins by suddenly using Yu Tianheng, who he had previously binded, like a shield.
This caused the Shi Brothers to suffer a backslash after forcefully halting their spirit ability.
Ning Chen then realized the people that really shined like a star in the Shrek Seven Devils Team was the angry Tang San
For the Emperor Team it was without a doubt, Bai Chenxiang and Xie Lingling with her constant heals.
Bai Chenxiang managed to defeat the chicken and also Ning Rongrong and Oscar while Tang San was busy with the twins.
She had treated Oscar very roughly while very careful with Ning Rongrong because of her agreement with Ning Chen.
The final fight was gonna be decided with Bai Chenxiang, Xie Lingling and Tang San.
Tang San and Bai Chenxiang quickly fought each other fiercely and used everything they have.
They injured each others repeatedly, but Bai Chenxiang was in a good condition thanks to Xie Lingling.
Bai Chenxiang was fighting evenly with Tang San, nay, she was weaker than him.
However, Xie Lingling's heal made her fight with Tang San almost evenly.
Bai Chenxiang wanted to win.
She wanted to win this fight at all cost, even if she had to push her body beyond its limit and move her exhausted body with just her own sheer will.
She was gonna keep moving forward, to grasp that shining victory.
She wanted to keep her promise with Ning Chen.
For him, because she loved him, and for her friends, she will win this fight!
However, the light filled with hope and determination soon wavered.
Bai Chenxiang froze, she was shocked to see Tang San deciding to use the twins and Yu Tianheng as his hostage.
Tang San said they were gonna die soon from his own poison and the only way to remove it was through his spider legs.
Bai Chenxiang grew extremely complicated and unsure of what she was gonna choose.
Two paths awaited her.
It was to either surrender and give up on grasping for that shining victory.
Or...
Forsake her friends and choose victory.
Bai Chenxiang bit her lips until blood trickled down it.
She finally came into her own decision after contemplating for a while.
Bai Chenxiang was forced to surrender the fight in the end and she quickly asked Xie Lingling to heal everyone who was injured.
Tang San was grateful for that and quickly started removing the poison of the three.
The whole match was intense and amazing, but in the end, it was the Shrek Seven Devils Team who won the fight.
Ning Chen stood up from his seat amidst the countless applause and cheers of the audience.
He went toward the Emperor Team and saw them looking depressed, but also determined now.
Ning Chen had faintly heard them determinedly saying that next time they would definitely win which he thought was a good sign.
It was a bit disappointing not seeing Bai Chenxiang winning the fight, but there was nothing that can be done to it.
Ning Chen admired everything Bai Chenxiang showed throughout the match.
Qin Ming was inwardly feeling happy to see some changes happening toward the Emperor Team.
The Emperor Team soon left the stage and went toward Qin Ming.
Yu Tianheng quickly apologized to all them and said their lost was completely to be blamed on him.
Qin Ming quickly patted his shoulder and comforted him.
"Don't blame yourself anymore and instead use this defeat to make yourself grow stronger."
The Emperor Team nodded determinedly as their answer.
Ning Chen smiled at then, but quickly saw Bai Chenxiang already leaving the place.
It was weird for her...
Her head was lowered and a gloomy shadow was covering her face.
"Hey—!" Ning Chen quickly approached her, but he was surprised to see her walking past him without even looking at them.
Bai Chenxiang soon disappeared from the arena and entered their VIP room which currently had no people.
Ning Chen was stunned, but quickly decided to go after Bai Chenxiang while the others were still talking with Qin Ming.
He soon saw Bai Chenxiang and he quickly grabbed into her hand, wanting to know what she was feeling.
However, he was shocked to see her eyes having some tears and she was also sniffing quietly.
"Why are you crying...?" Ning Chen asked worriedly and also confused at the same time.
Bai Chenxiang lowered her face, not having the courage to face him.
"I promised to win for you, but... I tried all my best, but we lost because of me..." Bai Chenxiang said with tears trickling down her eyes.
She started rubbing her eyes and continued to speak with a trembling voice, "I wanted to continue to win... But I couldn't handle seeing my friends dying..."
Ning Chen widened his eyes and realized it was his fault for saying those words. He didn't wanted this at all.
He was feeling guilty, his guilty heart quickly overwhelming all of his reasons and logic, causing him to embrace Bai Chenxiang with his arms.
"You did your very best and I know that because I've watched you shine like a star. I know you did better than anyone, so don't worry anymore..."
Ning Chen whispered while patting her delicate back gently.
"We could have win, but I chose to surrender..." She retorted weakly.
Ning Chen embraced her tighter and responded resolutely, "The choice you made wasn't wrong or right, It was simply the best and I understand that because I know you."
Bai Chenxiang grew silent and just also hugged him tightly. His warmth brought her relief and comfort.
She liked his pleasant, sweet smell.
Ning Chen felt his heart beating rapidly, his eyes growing somber.
Why was he feeling this again?
He asked himself in puzzlement.
There was a chance to get hurt again, but why was he feeling like this?
There was no answer, his emotions were hard to understand.
Ning Chen for now just wanted to close his heart again and stop thinking...
