Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The death gods
"NO, DON'T!"
"HELP, HELP ME.."
A young girl is panicking, screaming for help, face flushed and covered in sweat. The look on her face is pure terror as her dream continues to haunt her.
She suddenly wakes up, breathing heavily with one hand clutching her side to make sure it was really just a dream as she uses her other hand to wipe the tears that are threatening to fall from her eyes.
The door to her hospital room slammed open as her brother had just busted in like a crazy person before rushing to her side.
"Serenity, are you okay? The nurse called saying you were having a night terror and screaming." he says worriedly as he hugs her and then checks her up and down to make sure she isn't hurt.
Feeling overwhelmed with all these emotions inside her, she clings to her brother and cries. She just let's it all go, unaware what her actions were making her brother think since he was just soothing her and caressing her hair telling her it would be okay and he wouldn't let anyone hurt her again.
She didn't realize how much she had missed her brother until now. While he soothes her, the only thing she can think about is not letting herself commit the same mistakes that separated them in her past life.
While she is deep in thought about preventing her past life's events, her brothers eyes are burning with rage thinking about how he is going to torture the person responsible for pushing his baby sister to this state.
Not many know, but this is the first time he has seen his little sister cry since she was 5 years old when their parents tragically passed away.
He soothed her back to sleep and stayed by her side until the sun rose signaling the next day before he went out again to handle some buisness matters, though he was hesitant since he now believed his sister was suffering from night terrors from being pushed down the stairs.
He hopped into the back of the black Escalade and told his driver to go.
He had a meeting with his three best friends, Luke Powers, Braxton Cooper, and Colton Anderson, to discuss some matters of buisness.
He arrived at Hunter Corp, and made his way up to his office using the president's personal elevator and ignoring the obnoxious flirtatious eyes trying to get his attention.
Arriving at his office, he wasn't surprised to see his friends already there making jokes.
"About time some one shows up, I was just thinking of ways to defile your office." Luke says with a smirk.
"I thought graffiti was the way to go, but Colt said it was too childish." Braxton says disappointedly.
Colton smacks the both of them on the back of their heads ignoring their painful glares.
"Why were you late?" He says.
"My sister woke up last night. She confirmed my suspicions that someone pushed her. She said that she wanted to get stronger and get serious in her training." Hayden revealed, but seemed to not be saying everything.
"Well we all weren't stupid enough to think that she just fell, she isn't known to be clumsy except in the kitchen." Luke says snickering at the end, only to be smacked on the head again.
"ouch" he says glaring at Colton.
"Ignore this stupid buffoon. What aren't you saying about her recovery." Colton asks seriously.
"Can't hide anything from you." Hayden sighs.
"Of course not, some one has to keep you fools in line." responds Colton with a smirk.
Ignoring the last sentence, he says, "I got a call last night from the hospital nurse who was tending to my sister. She suffered from a night terror, she was screaming and pale like she was really frightened and yelling for help. When I got there she clung to me and cried herself back to sleep and wouldnt let go of my hand. I didn't want to leave her in that state. It hurt. I should have protected her, but I'll be damned if I let this repeat again."
His friends officially looked as pissed as he felt while watching his sister breakdown in the hospital.
They know his sister hasn't cried since the death of his parents, well she kind of isolated herself and her emotions in general. She only really let her guard down around me and grandpa.
To these 4 secret kings of the underworld, if one person cared about someone, they all did. They considered each others family their own family, and same with their enemies. They have been through many things together that have secured and proved their loyalty and friendship.
Braxton suddenly smiles that flowery like smile that can only be seen before he kills someone, "Who did we need to get rid of."
"My sister wants to take care of the girl herself, but she didn't say anything about the girls family." Hayden says with a smirk.
"We should make it slow, so they don't know what is happening until the end." Colton says grinning.
With that, they went on planning the torture of this poor family who should have done their research before hurting someone of importance to these four death gods.
