Chapter 27: Again!!!?
Ryan began trying to process what he had just learned. 'Somewhere in this world, there is a stupid demon that is invading and trying to take over the world with his army of monsters. He would either kill or enslave all of humanity and here I am trying to change back into a human.'
He glanced at Slip and found that the grey wolf seemed to be getting impatient, 'Right this dude has asked me the question twice.'
Ryan shook his head and tried to look as sad as he could, "No I don't know where we live, all I've seen is the super thick forest, there are also several large mountains that surround our territory."
Slip sighed "Ugh, pup I gotta say that you're not making things easy, if it wasn't for your courage then I wouldn't have spent this much time with you."
"Courage? What courage have I shown? All I've done since I got to this place is run away!"
The grey wolf laughed and nodded "That's true haha, you seem to do it often based on your speed and how long you can run. Still, you have some things that no matter how hard others train they still won't get. That is the courage and intellect that I have seen in you. For example, when you were being chased by the Magical Skeleton Assassins, the way that you used the Orc to help you escape was amazing."
"You had the guts to charge to a beast that is many times bigger than you. Now if you where anyone else then I wouldn't be so interested but the fact that you, a young pup thought of such a solution and had the guts to actually do it, is quite impressive. That's why I'm dying to see what you could do in the future, I'm sure that you would be a great addition to the forces of our Lord."
Ryan was listening to every word that Slip was saying since he was being complimented by a complete stranger. At first, he had no idea how he had shown the qualities that the grey wolf was saying but he had to admit that he had done some pretty cool things. "Wait ... you were watching me when I was being chased by those skeletons and you didn't help me? That also means that you were there the whole time that I was being chased by the monkey."
The grey wolf nodded and began laughing loudly "Well yeah, I'm not going to go rescue all the creatures that are in trouble unless I get something out of it. In your case, I thought I could get a good warrior but looks like that's going to have to wait. You mentioned something about Clans right? What's the name of yours, I can ask around and see if any of the beasts know where I can find you, If not then it will be up to you to find me."
Ryan nodded as he began thinking 'Right, cause I really wanna go on a killing spree. Now I'm left with a big dilemma: do I try to become a human or do I stay a horned wolf?'
"The name of my clan is the … Moon Clan."
Slip smiled and nodded "Moon Clan, hmm alright I'll remember it. Right, I nearly forgot what's your name?
Ryan quickly thought of a random name. He didn't want to give the one he was given since the last thing he needed was for the wolf to actually find him because of his name. "My name is Lake Pup"
Lake? great, it's nice and short and it suits you cause of your fur. In the army, I got the name Slip because of my ability to slip away when things get dangerous. Might seem cowardly but who gives a damn I'm still among the living aren't I. Anyway if you find us before I do make sure to ask for the 198th Horned Wolf Pack. Our group name is Scarlet Blood, that's what our previous leader decided to call us. Well, pup I can only hope that I can live long enough for us to see each other again. Don't forget to keep your ears open for any news of our army, See Ya.
Ryan nodded and smiled 'Please just die soon and leave me out of your war..... Crap he might be able to tell me more about this place'
"Wait sorry if I keep wasting your time but do you know where I can find a horned wolf tablet so that I can get out of this place? My clan didn't tell me anything about this place, but I saw that the others touched a stone with an image of themselves and they changed. After that they entered it, is that the way out?"
Slip who's body had begun disintegrating in the wind appeared above in one of the branches. "Thought that was the case, after all, you are so young so there was no way that you could have been trained. You see there's a rule that no one can speak about the Advancing Realm, if they do both the one speaking about it and the one listening will be unable to ever enter it again. Since many don't know exactly how much they can say about it without getting punished nearly everyone stopped speaking of the subject."
"Our demon army has been playing around with how much we can actually talk about it before getting punished. What you said before about the stone figures is true but no one should say the location of it to anyone. The first stones that you can enter are elements, after that the options are endless. If your body back in our realm gets killed then you stay here forever, like that monkey that attacked you. That's about it, if you go into too much detail then you can kiss the Advancing Relm goodbye. Now I gotta go, my wolves are guarding my body but I've spent too much time here, I need to start finding a stone. Oh, that reminds me, try to get out of here as soon as you can. You'll understand what I mean if you manage to get out of this realm.
The body of slip once again disappeared, leaving a small pup looking at a branch lost in thought.
Ryan was surprised about the fact that no one could speak about the evolution process but then he remembered when the old god had told him not to tell anyone about his evolution. 'Great if I actually decided to try and become human I'll only have myself to depend on to find each of the tablets that I have to find. Damit becoming human is becoming less and less possible or desirable.'
He began walking away from where he stood and began looking at every single stone he came across to see if anyone one of them was compatible. 'Slip said that the first evolution is an elemental one, the god also said that the first one is a horned wolf. So I'll get my horns and magic just like the others, the only problem is actually finding a freakin tablet.'
After what felt like a half-hour Ryan was getting hungry, sadly he doubted that there was any creature a pup like himself could kill and eat. He decided to take a rest and lay down for a while and he must have fallen asleep because he started hearing a hissing sound. When he opened his eyes what greeted him was a pair of green eyes.
In a cat-like manner, he quickly jumped up and felt the fur on his back rise. He quickly turned around and began running, there was little probability that there was going to be another friendly encounter like the one he had with Slip.
While he was running away he started hearing spitting noises from behind that were followed by sizzling. He turned around and found that the top half of the snake was glowing green and suddenly it opened its mouth and squirted a puddle of green liquid. When it landed on a rock that was near him it began eating it up.
Ryan quickly turned around and ran faster while moving in a zigzag motion. After running for a good while from the corner of his eyes he spotted another 2 glows that were the same color as the snake that was following him. They all spit their acid on the sides of him as if they were creating a path for him.
Not long after he learned that that was exactly what they were doing. In front of him, there was a huge hole. He couldn't go left or right due to the barrier that was formed from the puddles of acid. Once he was trapped the 3 snakes emerged from the trees and began slithering towards him.
He looked at the giant hole but wasn't able to tell how far down it was or what he was going to land on at the end. He sighed and looked up at the hungry 5ft long snakes that we're getting closer.
'First I got trapped by a monkey, and now a pack of stupid snakes? To make things worse it's basically the same freakin trap. How did I get tricked again? Also isn't this overkill? Why are there three snakes? Will I even be able to feed them? Why the hell am I asking so many questions?'
Ryan took a deep breath and slowly walked closer to the edge of the hole 'Oh shit that looks like a long fall. How deep is it? What's at the bottom? Is it actually possible that I am going to survive the fall? What can I do to slow down my speed?'
He felt his body begin shaking as he thought of killing himself, er I mean jumping into the abyss. Ryan was about to chicken out but he remembered what he had felt when he was ripped apart by the pack of wolves.
He suddenly raised his head and brought it down hitting the ground hard. The snakes were surprised by his sudden actions and they instinctively moved back a bit. Ryan shook his head trying to get rid of the dizziness that he was feeling. He took a deep breath and jumped in as he began praying 'Please let this be like the Cave of Swallows from Mexico.'
Meanwhile, the snakes moved quickly and saw the figure of the pup that was falling. They looked at each other and began hissing. This was the first time that their prey decided to jump instead of fight. They spread apart and returned to their ambushing positions, thankfully it didn't take long for them to find an injured Orc.
