Chapter 1: Awakening
In the dark forest , not far away from the village , two men , wearing black clothes, were talking to each other , the fat one was carrying a bag on his shoulder ;
_" We are really lucky , gaining a lot of money just for this easy task , what a chance "
_" Yeah, although we were sent in this far away little village , it's worth it "
_" Our client is so generous , just for getting rid of a vulnerable little girl , he paid us five hundred of gold , what a number"
_" That girl is really stupid , also she is disabled , the first time we met her she trusted us and followed us obediently in the forest , so stupid "
_" That why ,it was much easier than we through "
_" Ah !! I have an idea , do you want to gain more than five hundred gold from this task ?"
_" Sure ,I don't say no for more money , but do you really want to discuss a higher price with the client ?"
_" What ? With the client ? Are you out of your mind ,with such generosity we can't complain , I was thinking of another way ."
_" Which way?"
_" Do you remember when we received the task , the client entrusted us to go to the village , search for a woman who lived alone with her ten years old child , and then to kill the little one , he also gives us the drawing of the woman but not of the real target , so I think that beside from the age he doesn't know the appearance of the child or even if it was a girl or a boy , do you understand ?."
_" Euh ,Not really . It's doesn't matter for us we just have to kill her "
_" Ah god , you are more stupid than the girl , listen to me , if the client doesn't know her appearance, beside killing her , we can sell her as a slave, the client will be satisfied because the child really disappeared, and we will gain a lot of money from both sides ."
_" Wow !! You're so clever, Bro, that's a good idea , we should do it ."
_"I know , I know , but before that we must disfigure her a little , although her value will decrease but that will save us from troubles ."
_" As you like brother ".
The fat man put the bag on the ground , and open it ; a little girl was lying on it , she was asleep not making any sound or movement . The fat man freed the girl from the bag and put her against a tree ; her body was so small so thin ,anyone who see her will think that she has only eight years old .
She has short light brown hair which were falling on her tiny shoulders , she was sitting on the ground before her, the two men ;
_" Okay , you do it !" the fat man take his dagger , and hand it over to the other one .
_" Are you kidding me ? I came up with the plan , so it's your turn to take action ".
The fat man didn't move , the dagger in his hand , he stared at the sleeping face of the girl . And then he turned to face his brother.
_" No ,impossible , I can't do it "
_" What ? Two minutes ago , you were going to kill her , but now , I ask you just to wound her a little , and you refuse , what is your problem ?
_" I can't do it , I don't want to disfigure her "
_" Why suddenly , you agreed with me earlier , when I suggest doing it ?"
_" I know, but when I look carefully at her face,.... I really can't do it , sorry brother , I know that in this world, the most important thing for a woman is her face , if we disfigure her she will live a life worse than hell and being killed is much more merciful than this ."
_" What the hell are you talking about ? Don't think about others, think about yourself , if you do it , we will gain a lot of money , that will let us be happy until the end of our lives , don't you want to live in a luxurious house , being served by endless beauties and eating delicious dishes all the day ? Don't you want that kind of life ?"
_"I want it , but …."
_" But what ? Will you let this girl stands between you and that bright future ? Also , it's her fate , do you think she will have a peaceful life with her wasted body ? Without being able to feel or use any magic? What a joke ."
_" Mmh... You are right brother , it's already her fate , and we can't change fate ."
_" Now don't waste much more time , hurry to do it ".
_" I'll do it " .
When the two men turned their heads to look in the direction of the little girl , they were stunned to find two cold and emotionless green eyes looking back at them . The little girl was long ago awake , sitting on the cold ground she stared at the two men silently.
_" Ah ! You're already awake , don't think about running away , it will be so easy for us to catch you ."
_" Who are you ?" said the little girl coldly .
_" Us ? We are the people instructed to kill you , but don't worry, we won't do it , we have other plans for you ".
_" Oh , and may I know who want to kill me ?"
_" It's the second lady from the Diamond family "
_" Hey , you stupid fat thing , don't tell the identity of our client "
_"Sorry ,brother"
_" Sigh…., that doesn't really matter , even if you know , what can a wasted little slave do against one of the most powerful families in the country ?"
_" Oh! Is that so ? "
_" The Diamond family is one of the three most powerful families in the capital , even the king can't dare to offend them , In each generation they produce exceptional fighters ,one of them , the second lady . She is a genius who was able to become apprentice magician at the age of thirteen ,it's incredible , isn't it ?"
_" That why , you should just hide your hate deep in your heart and blame yourself for….. AH !"
Before the fat man could finish his sentence, a shadow flashed past him , and the next second he felt an intense pain under his throat and a warm liquid falling down it .
In a blink of an eye , the little girl took the dagger from the fat man 's hand and killed him .then ,she turned to look at the other bro who was frozen in place .
It takes him some more seconds to recover from the shock , before taking few more steps backward , making some distances between him and the girl .
_" You little bastard! I was going to let you alive , but now you deserve to die in pain ."
The man's face was red with anger , he lifted his hand and throw several fire balls at the girl from all the sides , but to bad for him the girl movement were very fast she dodged them easily , elegantly , like she was just performing a dance .
_" pff.. So weak …."
At the moment she said that , she threw the dagger at the men , it was really fast , before the man could dodged it , the dagger was deep inserted into his chest , a mouthful bunch of blood fell on the ground , the man was now on his knee looking with fear at the little girl before him .
_" Don't worry ,you'll not die yet , although the dagger is near your heart , it will not kill you . I want to ask you a question ,if you answer me honestly , it will be for the best ,otherwise I will let you experience an endless pain that will make you regret that the dagger didn't directly hit your heart ".
An expression of pure fear and fright appeared on the man's face , his entire being start trembling as he nodded uncontrollably at the girl before him .
_" Good ,after the did , what does she instructed you to do ?"
_" When we had ….completed the task , we were supposed to meet the client in three days , to get the reward "
_" Where ?"
_" In a deserted area at the east of the capital , there is a red small house , it's there where we first meet ."
_ "Mmh , the capital , it's too far from here "
_"please , spare me , I can help you ….i can go meet the client and told her that the task is completed , then she will no longer bother you ."
_"Why should I do this? I 'll no longer hide, I want her to know that the person she desperately wants dead is still alive , and will come to "visit" her soon ." The corner of her lips curled up into a faint smile .
The blood was all drained from the man's face , he lost his last hope , what can he do against this monster ? A disabled ten years old girl without any magic , was able to dodge an attack from an apprentice magician easily , it was impossible , if someone told him this before he will surely laugh at the stupidity of the person , and now he is just the victim of this unbelievable reality .
The girl turned to look at the man kneeling before her , and in a quick movement she took off the dagger from his chest , the man fell on the ground a lot of blood flowed from his wound, but he was not dead yet , he lifted slowly his face from the ground to look at the expressionless face of the girl .
The girl fell his gaze on her , then she looked back at him :
_"You'll not die yet , the dagger just perforated the vein near your heart, the blood will slowly fill up your lung until you will not be able to breathe anymore , it will take …. One hour at least , enjoy your time" .
The dagger in her hand , the girl slowly walked away from the man on the ground , but after some steps she stopped , and turned her head to look at him one more time ;
_I hope that 'll teach you to think twice before selling people as a slave
Then she disappeared in the dark forest
If the man has some more energy left ,he will surely laugh madly at his fate ,if he didn't get that stupid idea earlier he may be dead without any pain , like the other one . In the first time, the fat man was smarter than him .
