Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Birth?

Well this sucks.

I do not know who I am, I do not have a name, or at least I can't remember it. In my memories there is a place called Earth which thrived on something called science, which seems important, but I know I understand very little of it. My memories are about as useful as the shit I'm currently laying in, but I know one thing. I've somehow been transported to another planet.

There's a strange set of memories I really can't understand in my mind. The ones from Earth seem like they belong and span a fair amount of time, but these other ones well...

As the ancients said "I'm not in Kansas anymore."

That thought seems appropriate. I'm definitely not on Earth and this is definitely not my original body. While my Earth memories are hazy, they allow me to find a way to think, to comprehend my situation, as for these other memories.. they feel recent but they're hard to make sense of.. the reason being they belong to a 1-2 year old... I think. That's a fairly good guess since I am laying in my own shit, have no control of my body, and from what I can see of my physical features the only thing I can compare it to is a baby.

This fucking sucks.

I'm in a forest.. I think, and the former owner of this body is pitiful. Extremely pitiful. A child recently born met it's death by drowning and then had its body stolen by a total stranger via a giant lightning bolt. You really can't make shit like this up.

From what I can comprehend of these memories this child is a nobody. It feels like its situation is worse than my original body. The memories are hard to stomach.

There's a woman far more beautiful than any I've ever seen on Earth, even the so called nobles that are present in my memories from Earth are not fit to hold this woman's shoes. She can be described as geometrically perfect, with skin so perfect it seems unnatural, and black hair that seems to glitter in the dark room, and those eyes like sapphires clearer then the azure sky. She might be the baby's mother, the room we're in seems humble and rustic.

There's animal skins that definitely aren't processed like those on Earth, they definitely would be top quality goods on Earth though. There's also a lot of men that appear in my memories, but not a single memory is outside of this room. I doubt they follow genetic selection of mates like on Earth so makes sense she would have more options. I wonder which is the boy's father.

In the clearest memory, the beauty is in front of me with a bright smile on her face, she's trying to communicate something. There's a loud boom and in a simple flash the beauty is on the floor. Then there's a big burly man. The mans muscles have muscles, his face is chiseled, his hair clean and a deep crimson.

I think she's dead, it was a shitty way to go. The man then lifts my body as the original bodies owner starts wailing. The man can't stop staring at me. It's borderline creepy, seems like he's unsure of what to do with me. His eyes seems to be hiding a great inner conflict. The next thing I can see is his finger on my forehead, the original even stops wailing as the consciousness blurs. After that the next image is water, endless amounts of water, and a sensation of terrifying coldness, then the consciousness turns into eternal darkness.

That was the official death of this poor child. Then to add insult to injury here I fucking come. For a brief moment, less then a fraction of a second, that consciousness re appears with a massive lightning bolt in sight. That lightning bolt is me, I know this because after that fraction of a second, the lightning bolt hits. Then the concept of what a lightning bolt is appears in the consciousness of the body. Well my consciousness also feels vastly different in the memories than the original, so that helps my hypothesis. Then all I know is I'm laying in my shit, on this river bank, inside this forest.

I might be more pitiful than the child, now that I'm in charge of the body my end won't be any better. The body has no advanced functions, and I'm a small child sitting in the wilderness. Is starvation better to die from than an animal mauling?

I wonder if lightning strikes twice on this planet.

The beauty had animal skins in the room and they didn't come to be from thin air. There's definitely wild animals in this forest. I doubt this planet has genetic control of animals the way they did on Earth.

I'm fucked, I wish I played in more virtual worlds on Earth now. Huh would you look at that learned something new, that thought was purely on instinct, I'm not really sure what a virtual world is or a lot of what I just thought. At least virtual worlds sounds fun.

Hmm there's a noise. Wonder if it's the last thing I'll see?

..... Well I'm definitely dead.

As No.003 was having such thoughts at the sight of the things in front of him. On this unknown continent his birth caused a great uproar for many a being. Lightning crashing from the heavens was an auspicious sign that signified the birth of a great treasure, though in turn could also signify a great calamity for the treasure seekers. The lightning bolt fell in a great forest that spanned over one hundred thousand km's near the river running down its side. The lightning itself though could clearly be seen for a much wider area.

Around this forest there were four large cities and each of its inhabitants, that combined reached around 1.5 million, could all clearly see the lightning and each inhabitant could barely hold their excitement.

In the more large and beautiful homes many men and women wearing similar attire headed to the forest in droves, even in some of the smaller homes, bands of young and old were leaving with weapon in hand to seek fortune in the forest.

The inhabitants of the upper class wanted the treasure and the lower class simply wanted to try its luck. The warriors headed to the forest with only one thing in mind, treasure. Oddly enough those that remained in the safety of the city walls, while not competing for the treasure, all had the treasure in mind as well. Who would get the treasure? What changes will the treasure bring to the region? Would the kingdom be blessed or cursed by the treasure? Such excitement did not need possession of the treasure to spread from home to home.

Little did the inhabitants know that their search was for a treasure that did not exist, and furthermore that the lightning bolt that would later be no more then a meaningless memory, would not only change their kingdom, but their world.
