Chapter 2: EPISODE 2: Poketrans gem!

As detective Looker drove, we passed by the laboratory in Silver Heart City. The Laboratory looked like an abandoned spaceship. Nothing was left but the bodies of innocent people and my parents. Something crossed my mind. I saw a circular cage, two of them to be exact. Does that have something to do with the Pokemon that destroyed the lab? I thought Pokemons were friendly, I guess not all of them are.

We finally arrived at Citrus town, one of the largest towns of this region. The orphanage looked like a prison, thick walls, built with thick bricks.

"We're here" said Looker.

He was so kind to help me bring down my things. The first time I stepped inside the orphanage, everything looked peaceful and happy. I see kids playing with their Pokemon. Teachers and professors were there too. I thought this would be a prison. Well it seems to me that this orphanage is 3 in 1. It is an orphanage, a school, and a playground.

"Sit down here while I talk to the cashier"

"Oh Detective Looker, another child to be adopted I presume?" asked the cashier.

"Yes, his name is Kalem. His parents died from the incident, just like the other children."

"Oh my, another one?"

"Yes, and there are more kids we have to visit today."

While they were talking, I looked at the kids about my age. They were playing with their Pokemon, even Riolu wanted to join in the fun.

"Alright, I'll interview the kid then he can have his room."

"Kalem!" detective Looker called.

"This is Natallie, the cashier lady of the orphanage,"

"Please come with me Kalem," said Natallie.

"You'll be interviewed, then you can have your room, from here on out, You'll live with them, be a good and diligent kid alright."

"I got it, detective looker, thanks for everything*

"Your welcome kid, make new friends, I'll be going."

Detective Looker left, and I followed Natallie to a room. There was a table in front. We sat at the opposite of each other, and she began to interview me.

"Good morning Kalem and Riolu. My name is Natallie, I'll be asking a few questions."

The interview was quick and easy. She gave me a key for my room, room number 496 would be my house and room from now on.

"Clean up, and go to the dining hall afterward for lunch" said Natallie.

She noticed me looking sad, and said "Cheer up Kalem, you'll meet new friends!"

And then, she left. My things were brought up by one of the guards, and there I noticed the box. I opened the box, and found a letter. It was a letter from Mom and Dad.

"Dear Kalem, I know today you'll be leaving and setting out in your own adventure. We wish you luck! Don't forget to call us all the time. Here's a gift for you and Riolu, its a PokeTrans gem. Its a gem me and your father made which can translate the words of a Pokemon. It worked with our Pokemon, and it will surely work with you and Riolu. Love Mom and Dad"

The letter made me sob again. I remembered my dream, my crushed and ruined dream. Then I continued to read the letter.

"I'm sorry, but we would not be able to return and see you personally Kalem. So I asked Jay to deliver this gift to you"

Jay is one of my parent's colleagues, but he never came. It could be because of the explosion. But if mom and dad wrote this letter before the explosion, why would they say that they wouldn't see me? I read on.

"We're sorry son. We're sorry that we will not be able to say goodbye to you before you leave. Mom and dad are working on something that will save the world."

Mom and dad was sure up to something, but like what Detective Looker said, "Do not lean on the past"

I tied the gem into Riolu's neck, and mine then I spoke. "Rioulu can you understand me?"

"K... Kalem?" said Riolu.

"I can understand you!"

"Me... Me too Kalem!" said Riolu

From that day on, we understood each other more often, and became even closer than before.

When I stood up to clean Riolu and myself, I heard that voice again, calling my name over and over. "Kalem... Kalem..."

I got scared, Riolu can hear the voice as well, We thought it was nothing. That it was just ordinary for people who lost their parents, or loved ones to experience such things. So me and Riolu ignored it, and moved on.

Their bathroom was so amazing! It had a bathtub and a double sink. I remembered the time my mother used to bathe me in our bathtub. I and Riolu always loved to play with water in the bathtub and this time was no different. We played and splashed water everywhere, then someone knocked on my door.

"Hurry Kalem, the headmaster and the other orphans are waiting for you"

and just like that, Natallie left...

"Kalem we must hurry" said Riolu.

"Alright, you go get the towels, I'll clean the messed we did," I said rushingly.

It was like we were being late for work. Both of us were rushing, I cleaned the water we splashed, and Riolu gave me the towels.

"Hmmm, which clothes should I wear?" I said to myself.

I remembered what mother used to say, "Always wear the attire which fits the event." Riolu had to be dressed up as well, but I trust Riolu that he can choose the perfect attire. Dad would always buy Riolu new clothes when he comes home.

We rushed outside the room, running to the so-called dining hall but we couldn't find it. We kept looking and looking, but there was none in sight. So I decided to ask the people around me, for some help.

"Excuse me, do you know where the dining hall is?"

....

They didn't reply to me nor notice me. They just looked and went on with their business, like I was invisible. I was starting to think, that the kids here aren't friendly, I started to think that in order to be noticed, in order to have attention, you must be famous. That is what I thought until I met Glade.
