Chapter 7: Circus Is Back In Town (Atticus)

Ricky had taken me on a bus and a train, suddenly we were in a different place. It took hours to get here but it was worth it. It was a warehouse that was turned into a teen hang out. There were bean bags and tv there was also a mini-fridge with a whole bunch of magnets on it. There was a crafts table in the corner with a bunch of papers on it, which Ricky told me not to touch. There were also places to color and a radio to listen to music. There was also a whole other room which was referred to as the game room, it had tables for air hockey and pool and other games.

"Here we are, the place that lets you escape from everything," Ricky explained.

He pulled sodas out of the fridge and tossed one to me, then plopped down into a bean bag chair. He began to sip it and his facial expression exploded with happiness.

Ricky's lips parted with the can, "Victory, as my father used to say."

"What makes this a victory?" I asked.

"Made a new friend, he's funny and smart. He's here with me now, and we drank the last of Myra's soda. Which means that I have a good excuse to tell her why it's gone." Ricky explained.

I smiled and Ricky smiled back. It was very nice and I could stay here forever. No destiny and no Gods to boss me around, I don't care if I'm going to be called a coward. I was free and from now on I decide how to live my life. Then a sudden realization came over me. They would never stop looking for me, because of this stupid great prophecy thing. I'd have to move around from city to city. Avoiding New York and Calfornia.

I can deal with that tomorrow. Ricky was explaining how he stumbled across this place when he was younger and had it ever since. He was excellent at telling stories and explained that they made a deal with this girl he kept mentioning about, Myra, that she would have to kiss him if he beat her at the pool table. Just then a girl opened the door and marched into the room. She was mad and when she saw me she turned red, most likely out of anger than embarrassment.

"Ricky I'll talk to you about this later, but now we have bigger problems." She explained.

"Hey, Myra nice to see you too." Ricky answered, "How long until you noticed I was gone?"

Myra rolled her eyes and went over to the craft table. She grabbed a bag and started to pour a green powder into the small brown bag. She then started to mix together the substance with other weird things like plants that other stuff on the table.

Ricky stopped talking and started to sip his soda silently. His eyes weren't looking at her but the air seemed tense like they were fighting beforehand. When Ricky finally broke the silence by asking me a question.

"So what brings you here Addy?" he asked.

"On a trip with some friends," I explained.

Myra was still stirring her liquid and cursed. Ricky looked over to her making sure she was okay.

"I'm fine just didn't add enough water so it's a powder instead of a liquid." She explained looking back at her potion.

Everything in my body was telling me that something was wrong and to get out of there as fast as possible. Instead, I just sat there trying to calm myself down. Myra then left the table with the little bag in her hand, she was walking over to the fridge and opened it. She was about to put it in there then sighed.

"Your last name doesn't happen to be Cruz does it?" Myra asked.

Everything seemed wrong about this, so of course, I lied. "No, actually it's Clyde."

A smile appeared on her face, and she put the bag of powder inside the fridge. My senses were calming down and I could tell that everything was softening up a bit. Myra seemed less tense at the moment and that was a good sign. I was beginning to feel comfortable again when eleven people entered the room. It was the seven-plus Nico, Will, and Kayla. The weird thing was a person that looked exactly like Myra was with them. They looked worried. The Myra that wasn't with the others headed over towards the fridge and that's when she took out the little brown bag.

She walked over to me and smiled. "Lier."

She then smashed the bag in my face and green powder went everywhere. No one moved, not even Ricky who looked at me like I had just exploded. I couldn't move I was frozen to the floor. I heard someone scream no.

"Myra what are you doing?" he asked her.

She turned towards him and smiled, "You will never learn demigod."

The girl melted away into a much older looking girl. She had dark hair and was taller.

"Circe!" Percy and Annabeth said at the same time.

A memory flashed in my mind of Percy saying that he had to deal with her before. The witch snickered and turned back towards me.

She then grabbed my head and tilted it back, making her hand a claw she started to chant.

"Arcum meum erit usque ad lunam est impleri" she said.

Annabeth quickly translated it, "Bow to my will until the moon is fulfilled?"

That was the last thing I had heard before everything went black. I could only see darkness for what felt like an hour when I suddenly felt angry, angry with everyone in the room. I wanted to punch the seven until they died a horrible death. When my eyes opened Circe looked more beautiful than ever and I wanted to listen to every word that came out of her mouth. There was also this green like tint to the room, Ricky was even looking like he posed a threat to me.

"You're a very horrible boy," she said.

I felt disappointed in myself and wanted to throw myself off of a bridge to settle the score with myself. I looked up towards the beautiful lady again and time seemed to slow down.

"But there is a way to change that," she explained. "All you have to do is kill them for me."

Circus gestured towards the eleven others.

A different person screamed 'no!'

"Gladly," I answered, making a claw with my hand "Venire, orto."
