Chapter 1: The Beginning
In 2002, Kai was 5. His family was poor, and struggling for money. Kai was going to kindergarten, and his parents couldn't buy him new clothes. So he was going to school in ragged ruined dirty clothes.
Kai: Hello.
Teacher: Why don't you have clean clothes?
Kai shrugged.
Teacher: Just sit down!
Kai sits down in the only empty seat.
Kid: You're disgusting! Don't sit next to me!
Kai: I'm sorry.
At recess that day Kai had no one to talk to. He sat on the steps, and waited for recess to be over. Then a kid walks up to him.
???: What's up?
Kai: Aren't you gonna complain about how I look or smell?
???: I think you already know that.
Kai: What's your name?
???: Azrael.
Kai: Well nice to meet you Azrael.
They both smile. Later on that day Kai went home to his parents. They were working in their meth lab.
Mom: Hello hun, what're you doing?
Worker: You let your kid go to school looking like that? Where dey do dat at? You so ghetto!
Mom: Who the fuck are you ta tell me?!
Worker: Oh, so you mad now!
Dad: You two better shut the fuck up, you, get back to work, and you take Kai outta here!
The worker guy goes back to work, and Kai's mother brings him to the car. They get in the car, and she rolls the window down. Then she starts smoking a cigarette.
Mom: So how was ya day at school?
Kai: It was okay.
Mom: You make any friends?
She starts putting on her makeup.
Kai: I made one friend I think.
Mom: That's great hun.
She gets a call on her flip phone. Then she starts talking to someone.
Mom: Alright… yeah. I'm coming. Imma round the corner! Yeah… see ya.
Mom: Alright baby, I'm going to a party. Your gonna be sitting in the car.
Kai's mother drives them to a packed bar. He sees his mother open the door, and throw up her hands.
Mom: I'm in dis bitch!
The door closes, and kai just sits there waiting. Eventually, his mother comes out with a guy, and she is hammered. She gets in his car, and they drive away. Kai falls asleep in the car, and then wakes up to his mother getting back in the car with a stack of cash.
Kai: Hi mommy!
Mom: Shh, hello baby.
She rubs his hair.
Mom: Mommy's head hurts a bit so please be quiet.
Kai: Okay.
Seven years later it was the last day of school in 2009. Kai was coming home from school when he found his parents dead. His whole house was ransacked for drugs, and his parents were laying dead on the floor.
Kai: Mom?
Kai runs over to his mother, and holds her in his arms.
Kai: Mom, you're okay. We can fix this. The hospital can fix this.
His mother is lying dead in his arms bloody. Kai stays alone.
Kai: Its gonna be okay.
