Chapter 19: How can I not do anything?
"Is every letter or card in the bouquets like this?" You exclaim in shock.
Shaking his head, Lee Hyun replies " Maybe or maybe not. We have to take a look at all of this to find out."
"Do you do it then? Read all those letters all on your own?"
He nodded, " Boss gave me orders to handle these miscellaneous things on my own and not bother him. So, I have to do my job."
'Oh My, so professional.'
"Let me help you since I am your assistant now. Oh, By the way, I am really curious what you do with these flowers? We are not...throwing it, right?" You look at him in hopes that he will say yes.
Taking a bouquet in his hand, he smelled the flowers before answering " I would never. My brother is a florist, so I give him all these flowers. So, it will be in good hands...Um, Of course, I asked for Boss permission."
Looking at him explaining so hastily, You let out a soft chuckle " Yeah. I am relieved to hear that. So, Let's get started."
-After 15 minutes-
"Woah, That took longer than expected." You stretch your stiff neck side to side.
"Well done, Miss Bae. Here, have a coffee." Lee Hyun passes you the drink before sitting down.
"Thanks, sir." You take a sip of the black coffee.
'Ugh, Bitter. I don't know how people can drink this with a straight face.'
*Ring*
"I am sorry, My brother is calling. He must've arrived down at the reception. I need to bring him up here to move these bouquets."
"Oh, okay. May I help you with something?"
"The process of taking so many bouquets will take some time, and this time is precious for you since it's free time before Boss arrives. Miss Bae, I suggest you go to your office and take a good rest before starting. It will be a rough day."
Lee Hyun spoke with the utmost consideration. You couldn't help but obey his words.
After he leaves, You relax your tense muscles. Your eyes wander around the office, seeking cameras. And there were two in total.
Staring at the black coffee, you take a deep sigh. Holding your breath, you gulp down the coffee in one shot.
'BITTER!! Why am I even doing this?'
Placing the mug aside, you were about to head to your office when your eyes catches sight of the sugar jar which was concealed by the flower vase on the table.
There was no turning back, so you could just turn around and go to your office, satiating yourself disheartened.
*Gasp*
"I still can't believe that this is where I am going to work."
Brushing your hands around from the white desk to your seat. Sitting down, you gape at the nameplate placed on top of the desk.
Picking it up, you stroke the name engraved there, you mumble, " Bae Y/N, Junior Assistant."
Placing it back on the desk, You rummage around your bag.
"Where is it? Don't tell me I didn't bring it?" You worriedly empty your whole bag.
*Clink*
As you hear the sound, You see the silver bracelet you were searching for.
"*Sigh* What a relief." You smile ear to ear. Looking at the bracelet intently, you mutter to yourself :
"Dad, Your daughter has grown up. She is doing a job at one of the best companies in Korea. But, I know. It was mere luck. Yet, Don't worry. I will make you proud and do my best. I..miss you."
You keep staring at the bracelet until someone knocks on the door. "Miss Bae, I am coming inside."
Startled by the sudden sound in the silent room, you hastily get up.
The bracelet drops from your hands. You look down on the floor in hopes to quickly pick it up, but you don't see it. You wanted to search for it but Lee Hyun enters the office and informs "Miss Bae, The boss has arrived. So, we have to get going before he gets mad."
Not knowing how to respond, you just say "Y-Yeah..Let's go. But, first, let me clean this up."
You quickly gather up the things you threw messily at the desk and toss them in your bag before leaving the office.
'I will search for it once the work is over.'

CEO Jin's office :
"Mom, You don't have to do anything." Jin tries to persuade Madam Kim on the phone.
She answers back in resolution, " It's my precious son's birthday. How can I not do anything?"
"Mom, Listen. Everyone working in my company is over twenty. Don't you think amusement park parties are childish for our age?" Jin was trying his best to make her change her mind.
"*Sigh* That's why I want you all to have some fun. You all are still young and fit. If you stress it up with work spending all your youth in it, You will regret it later. Dear Son, Didn't you like going to the amusement park when you were little?"
"Mom, I was small back then-" He was cut off.
"Okay okay.. I get it. We will simply throw a ball party in Kim mansion." Madam Kim heaves a long sigh before saying. He could distinctly find out she was disappointed in her sigh.
Having no choice, He spoke up " Mom, I have a decent idea that I think will be better and your wish will also be fulfilled."
After talking with her for another half an hour, he finally got to hang up the phone. Instantly after throwing the phone aside, he focused back on his laptop, doing his work.
*Knock Knock*
"Come in."
Lee Hyun and you enter the office. The atmosphere was cold and dark as usual. It didn't look like it was Jin's birthday.
"Happy birthday, Boss. May you live a long life." Lee Hyun congratulated Jin as he slowly strode towards his table.
"Here I brought a gift for you." Lee Hyun passed the small box he brought to him.
'I was so engrossed thinking about my bracelet, I didn't see Sir taking the gift box with him all along.' You think, also wondering whether Jin will accept or it goes to the drawer as usual as Lee Hyun said.
"What is it?"
"It's a tie." Lee Hyun initially wanted to say that it was a surprise but fearing that he would be fired he shut his mouth.
"To the drawer." Without batting an eye, Jin replied indifferently.
"Yes, sir." Expecting the outcome, Lee Hyun opens the drawer, only to be surprised. It was empty.
However, holding himself back from asking why it was empty, whether he threw it or used it, he placed the gift box inside the drawer before returning by your side.
"Miss Bae, Go ahead." Lee Hyun whispered softly, reminding me to congratulate him as well.
"Oh, Okay."
You take a step forward. Inhaling and exhaling deep breaths a few times, you were about to bow and congratulate when his piercing gaze landed on you.
Your eyes meet. You stay frozen in the spot as you voice " Happy Birthday."
