Chapter 3: Goddess of Nothingness

(MC POV)

I felt a sudden surge of calmness on my muscle, deflating my stiffness that my aching body brings.

It was cozy in away of tranquility as my mind travels in different thoughts in a flash of a second.

It is weird if I could say it.

I knew that I was dead. But why am I so relaxed about it?

It's like for the first time of my life, I felt special. I feel full in a way I can't point what is it.

I opened my eyes but I couldn't see anything. Even my body was nowhere to be found, and if I can look at my head, it was probably not there too.

Even more weirder, I felt that I can move or float around even though I cannot see in this pitch-black void that I am moving.

I turned around to see if there's something in this realm of darkness.

My eyes narrowed as I see in the distance a white dot. So I sped towards it of what it is.

As I near on it, figured gradually formed in my eyes in the distance, seating to a old-grayed throne with an interior of red, and a red-carpet opposite on it to welcome me

It was a woman with a black hazy-fog face, but its petite and rather tall body have an overbearing feminine charm. Her smooth milky skin was visible on her silk-white glimmering gown as though it was a nightdress in bed if it was more visible to see through it.

I've arrived in front of her, standing above the red-carpet. But she didn't heed or acknowledged my existence in front of her.

So I spoke. "Uhm... Who might you be...?"

It takes for a moment before she shifted her attention to me. "Oh my, sorry for my rudeness." She waves her hand as though it was nothing. "Wait for a moment okay."

I comply as she became silent again for a moment.

"Looks like I am becoming forgetful as time progress." She chortle. "Now, what should I do to you child?"

"I guess... sentence me? This is after-life, after all, right?" I shrugged my shoulder.

"You're a funny one, ey." She laughs. "This is serious my, child. Okay, first of all, I am the Goddess of Nothingness. And as you can see, I supervise this realm."

"Then what you do?"

"I sit here, just sit you know. Haha." "Okay enough of that. For your question, you can already know what my role is. Is that right?"

I'm not clueless, nor ignorant about what she said. I just make sure what was her really good at. Or what was her existence to be called "Goddess".

"What was I was doing here in the first place, Uhm... Goddess of Nothingness?" I skipped her question and dove straight to the matter at hand.

"You can call me anything, child. As long as you were comfortable." She waved her hand and continued. "I know that you're aware that you died, right?

"Yes."

"And for your main question, there was an anomaly that happened after you died, and the higher-ups decided to throw you here to be fixed. If that what they want." She patiently says.

"And what could that mean?" My guard went-up inside me.

I can see her amused-smile deep within the black-hazy fog that covered her face.

"There's no need to be tense. I mean no harm. Besides, I am the one who would grant your wishes."

"Me, heee...? You do know that I am not a saint in my past life right? Why would I be given a privilege to have a second life?"

Without even acquiring how she even knew what Is my wish, I already guest what is it as my last thought before I die was to have a second chance in life.

"Saint or not, Demon or villain, have a chance to do that. Or I could just put this in another word, God's Amusement. And I know-how you are insightful of that."

She gives me a meaningful look before she stretches her body up.

She was right, whoever or whenever it was, amusement was always present everywhere. Good or bad, It was for all amusement. Like me and my pointless ending battle.

"Then, what now?" I ask.

She chuckled slightly. "You're going to another world. Have a second life, that's all."

"What world?"

My voice slightly increased its volume. Anticipation was slightly visible in my eyes, even though I don't know that I was kinda hopeful, hopeful to experience again what I had missed.

"It's a normal world, yet not so normal." She leisurely says.

"Yet not normal?" I was quite puzzled.

"There's no need to understood that understatement, besides, you're going there so, try to experience it to yourself."

She was right. I was already lucky to have this privilege, so who am I to ask more.

"And before you go, what wish do you want. You have three wishes, so think carefully what you want."

Wish? Do I have something that I wanted?

No. I don't have as long as I can remember.

Except.

I was jealous to have a family. To feel how warm to have someone you care about and care about you.

ʸᵒᵘ ᶜᵃⁿ ᵈᵒ ᶦᵗ

I'm an idiot.

I've already had one in the first place, yet I just ignored it.

My eyes swelled and form tears and it slid down my cheeks down to my chin.

I didn't even notice I was crying without grip. But the pain in my chest was unbearable that If I allowed it, it would burst instantly.

I wiped my face with the back of my wrist and dry the moist using my cloth that covered my bicep.

I'd decided what is my wishes are.

"I've wanted to use my wish to go back to my world."

I wanted to repay her, I wanted to make her happy. She was the only one who supported me until this day-!

ᴵᴰᴵᴼᵀ!

Yeah, that wreckless muscle woman too.

I chuckled inside remembering the red-haired woman that always followed me around to fight me which always led to saving me when I was in trouble.

ᴳʳᵉᵃᵗ ʲᵒᵇ ᵇᶦᵍ ᵇʳᵒᵗʰᵉʳ

Or the spoiled child that I saved when I was a bodyguard of their house.

The three of them that I neglect just to fulfill my childish ambition to live.

She looked at me with sympathy. "Can't do that, my child. Can't do."

Instantly, my mood drops down for a moment before I manage to muttered.

"Give me a normal family that's all. And for my second wish, I want them to have a good life for the rest of their life. Last, you can have it, I don't need it." It was already overwhelming to receive a wish for a guy like me.

The Goddess of Nothingness became silent for a moment before speaking.

"Hope you have a good life."

She drew her hand upwards and scribbled an alien letter into the air that glowing in a bright bluish-light.

Slowly, my body was becoming transparent before I disappear in the place as my consciousness instantly turned pitch-black.

...

(Goddes of Nothingness POV)

Poor child, hope you have a good life this time.

He disappeared in front of my throne and I sigh inside.

"Now for his wish."

My mind as though traveled away from my body and appeared somewhere where his world at.

Crumbling and snapping woods could be heard as I see a house turned to black-charcoal, bathing to a violet sea of flame in the middle of a snowy mountain.

I can't help but sigh.

The three women were dead too with a smile on their burned faces.

I can't help but moved because of their genuine love for that man.

Without idling around. My conscience appeared somewhere in a long white bridge where countless souls marching in one line towards the end.

In a flash after I appear, I am back in my throne and in front of me. Three women were puzzled as they looked at me, putting their guard up inside their minds.

He have a wish, so I needed to obligate on that.

"Welcome, I am the Goddess of Nothingness. Nice to meet the three of you."

My face smiled deep inside my black-hazy fog.
