Chapter 52: CHAPTER 50
"Well then. The first part of the trail is the purgatory flame demon, the second part is the arrows of the Phoenix and the last part of the trail is the corruption of the heart's flame. If you wish to forfeit during the trial which is very unlikely, you may shout out any time and I will immediately let you leave the trial grounds.I wish you got luck up ahead" The Phoenix informed about the trial to Yan.
Just as the Phoenix's spirit faded away, the pair of golden eyes slowly disappeared inside the world if pitch black darkness. Moments later, the darkness disappeared and the world around him transformed into a field of deep red. Looking around Yan could see erupting volcanoes covered in magma. looking up in the sky, he could see that it was covered in thick layers of clouds with a lots of lighting flaring up.
As Yan was looking around the literal hellscape he could see a lake of magma in the centre. Are taking a few steps, the lava lake suddenly started to erupt until a current figure completely made of lava stepped out of it. This giant was a whopping 33 meters tall with two giant 10 meters long horns on its head.
It was a high level Earth profound realm fire beast. And in this place surrounded by all this lava and fire it could indefinitely regenerate its own vitality and profound strength vaguely remembered Yan.
*ROARRRRRRRRRR* The beast roasted and rushed at Yan who had actually lifted his hand and pointed his two fingers at it. In front of fingers a small black coloured orb formed. As the creature can near and lifted it's leg to stomp him, Yan fired the black orb. The orb moved at a blinding speed as it pearced the forehead of the giant and suddenly expanded into a gigantic orb. This orb obliterated the upper half body of the giant as it slowly dissolved into the air. The torso less body fell on the ground as it broke down into pieces.
"Easy" Yan said.
At this time the Phoenix who was watching this stared at Yan widely. The technique Yan had just used was something she had never seen in her life. This technique reminded she of the Evil God somehow when he created the stars and planets.
"What was that black orb. It was as if all the elements were combined together. How can this be possible.... unless he has the Evil God's power." She whispered as she quickly concentrated on Yan's body. But to her dismay she couldn't find any trace of Evil God other than the dragon power.
"How could this be possible?!" She thought.
At this time in the Yan was looking around the surrounding when suddenly the surrounding started to distort. When the distortion ended Yan found himself in a vast expanse of flat, scorching wastelands.
"Second stage of the trial: Arrows of the Phoenix." Boomed the voice of the Phoenix Spirit.
Looking up at the sky Yan could see an enormous Phoenix gliding across the sky. Seconds later red dots started to appear in the sky . First just a few but this few quickly grew to become a dozen and then hundreds and ten thousands of those dots covered the sky. And like that a lots screech was heard as the dots, that were revealed to be mini Phoenixs made of fire, suddenly gained a lot of speed and came down towards him.
Yan looked at them as if they were food and opened his mouth wide. A suction force suddenly came from his mouth and the mini Phoenixes were all pulled towards his mouth.The Phoenixes went into his mouth but shockingly the flames didn't do any damage at all. It was as if they were completely devoured.
The Phoenix who was watching this was completely shocked. She couldn't believe that a person was eating her flames. How absurd was this. There was not a single being in this universe who could eat her divine flames like this and live to tell the tale.
Yan at this moment had nearly eaten thousands of those Phoenix arrows. In less than ten minutes he completey devoured all the arrows.
"*Burp* Thanks for the meal." He said rubbing his stomach. This time again the surrounding space distorted again.
He was standing in the darkness, a pair of golden eyes appeared and the Phoenix spirit started to speak again.
"Very good challenger. You have surprised me very much. I have never seen a being like you with all your weird powers. Though I have many questions I would like to ask you, I will save them until the end of the trial. The third party of the trial is coming up now: the corruption of the flame's heart. This part is the most difficult part of the trial. In the past, 329 challengers passed the first two parts of the trial. But only seven challengers have ever managed to pass the third part." Said the Phoenix spirit.
"That is a pretty steep failure rate." Yan said seriously.
"Indeed it is. The reason for that is because the third part of the trial is the trial of heart. It does not involve fighting, but instead involve the choices within your heart. If you are firm enough towards the pursuit of power then even if you possess weak profound power, there is a chance you can easily pass. On the other hand if you don't possess enough determination, then passing your life in the mundane world can also be an option. After all power is not everything in life..... Are you ready?" Said the Phoenix spirit.
Listening to this Yan's expression became serious and looked at the divine Phoenix in its eyes. He knew that trial would reveal the deepest dark secrets which he never wanted to show anyone to the Phoenix spirit. So he decided that he would crush the illusion with his power.
"Very well I am ready." said Yan.
"Then I wish you good luck." Said the Phoenix spirit before a flash of light caused Yan to close his eyes.
As the light died down he found himself in a living room of a house. The living room was decorated with multiple pictures, curtains and it had a fireplace too. There were sofas and comfy chairs around the rooms as a mat laid on the floor along with a cupboard at the side of the room. Above the fireplace there was a large photo frame with a photo in it. It was that of a little boy sitting in a chair with two elderly people besides him. The room had a cozy feeling to it.
Looking around Yan wasn't mistaken at all. This was a memory from his past, a past that he had wanted to forget. He looked around the room and found a mirror in the cupboard and saw that he has became his original selve from the previous universe. Black hair and eyes, a young face and a lean built. He wire a T-shirt and a track pant. He looked not more than 16 years old.
"Hmmmmm..... Very interesting. I didn't expected to see something like this. There really is more to this dragon kin then meets the eye." Muttered the Phoenix Spirit to itself observing the situation with extreme interest.
While he was observing himself in the mirror the doorknob turned as the door opened. A couple walked in under the shocked gaze of Yan.
"We are back Adrian." The duo said simultaneously.
