Chapter 3: A Losing Battle

A red aura surrounded me. My strength was no longer bounded to the mortal realm, and time, progressed slowly. I could sense everything around me. The wind that passed by, the buildings that crashed; and the blood that splattered. The ground rumbled from where I stood and cancelled all the noise around me. Now, the ground was no longer strong enough to hold a being of my calibre. I moved thrice as fast, killing the monsters that stood before me.

The third batch was of TD100s, a group of hounds similar to dogs, but eternally hungry. They were easily tamable, but to tame a 100 of them was impossible, even for a God. I ran towards them making cracks in the ground as I progressed to get nearer. I grabbed the upper jaw of two of them and smashed their bodies endlessly with their brethren. While doing so, I could here their whines, but I relentlessly slaughtered all of them. A few of them had latched their teeth in human flesh, but before they could result to more deaths, I unsheathed my sword, and pierced their skulls. I managed to save the injured and prevent their deaths for the time being.

I advanced onto another region dominated by monsters. A single monster, the size of a building, was spreading terror across each corner of town. A DG500. The one monster that could only be defeated by an army of level 3 heroes. A huge ball of gaseous mass that could consume the souls of its victims. It was a creature that expanded as it absorbed more souls. It's current size indicated that most of the population in town had passed away. However, that wasn't even the main problem. A DG500 had a special skill through which it could increase the intelligence of the nearby monsters. This, was the reason why humans of this town were unable to fight back.

I collected all of my mana at the centre of my right hand and continually began to condense it. The mass exceed tons, and I could no longer maintain it in my hand. This was the first time I had used magic. With my inability to control it, came the aftereffects. I had cast a ball of plasma, but now I couldn't cast it at the DG500's core due to my MP. I could have easily launched it with the help of a simple wind spell, but without mana, I could progress to use magic no further.

A core is the centre of a monster which can be used as an ingredient for making potions, depending on the type of monster. The core of a monster maintains the monster's life force. In most cases, monsters can be killed through warfare, however, in some cases, where the being is comprised of a solid or a liquid mass, the core becomes the only way to kill it. Thus in such situations, by breaking the core, the monster is slayed.

I used all my strength to launch the ball of plasma towards the core of the being. Its core shattered. With this, I had lost all of my MP. The only thing I could rely on was my strength. I rushed through hordes of monsters, killing them with my bare fists. I crushed the skulls of two skeletons (DS100s) and advanced further to rip the core out of a goblin's body with my right hand. After this, I killed a horde of goblins by bashing their skulls with one another, by ripping apart their heads from their bodies and by slashing through their feeble bodies. After killing about 40 of them, I encountered a hobgoblin, a goblin thrice the size of a goblin, and ten times as strong. As the goblin tried to punch me in the gut with his right hand, I placed my sword before me. The hobgoblin cut itself in the process. He moved his left hand and aimed to punch at my face, but before he could do so, I cut his hand off of his body. The hobgoblin screamed in pain while holding what was left of his left hand in his right, and stood there. I took the opportunity to slice of his head during this time.

However, even after the death of the hobgoblin, another hoard of goblins were devastating the town. The only way I could end their reign was by passing through the portal and killing their leader.

I looked at the other surviving species and noticed their numbers. 5 skeletons, and 2 ogres were the only one's alive except for the hoard of 35 goblins that had just passed through the portal. I had nearly killed all of them. Instead of killing the weak goblin hoard, I decided to kill the 5 skeletons. I ravaged and broke bones like they were pieces of paper. Afterwards, I looked towards the ogres and sighed, "Huff….not again."

I stretched a bit in the midst of the chaos and sprinted towards the ogres. Before they could notice my presence, I cut their legs to bring about a flesh wound. They fell like dominoes. As soon as I had the opportunity to end their lives, I did. I stabbed their cores, instantly killing them.

With the death of these two species, I ran into the portal of goblins to fight against their leader, and to close the portal.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
APOPHIS APOPHIS

To reach the realm of a God, maintaining at least 10,000 of any stat is necessary. In this case, as soon as Zaros used his mana(MP), his Godhood was taken away. Currently, he has been reduced to the level of a level 2 hero, however, his status shows that he has the power of a Demigod.(The reasoning behind this will be noticed by Zaros after a large sum of chapters.)
