Chapter 3: Euxenia

2: Euxenia

I stared at my reflection for about half an hour after waking up in an unfamiliar room. I was in a vacation house. A villa, perhaps. With the tropical decorations in the room and the coconut trees outside the window, I pretty much sure where I was.

At some resort.

Afternoon air entered the window bringing the salty smell of the sea inside the room.

The child in front of me was a spitting image of myself when I was younger, about six or seven years old. White skin, hair color of strawberry blonde and a pair of round amethyst eyes.

I narrowed my eyes at the child in the mirror and pulled the shirt of the pink pajama I was wearing. The shape of my ribs was almost visible on my chest.

What are you doing to your body, kid?

The door opened and a maid entered holding a tray. "Miss, you're awake," she said in surprise. "You must be hungry from sleeping for a whole day." She placed the wooden tray on the small table near the window.

I sat on the chair where the food awaits me as she continues to speak, "It's a miracle after you pull that dangerous stunt there's not a single scratch you got. Rest assured, Miss, you're still a candidate for the prince's fiancé."

She must be talking about, jumping off the waterfalls that angle#2 had told awhile ago. What type of person who recklessly jumped into a waterfall and almost killed herself?

Wait. . .

My hand froze midway on grabbing the spoon.

What if the original owner of this body had died and I took over it?

If my conclusion was true then what happened to my body? The 22 years old me.

"Miss? Are you alright? Should I call the doctor?"

Snapping back to reality I glanced at the maid. She was young probably in her early 20s.

"No. There's no need. I'm fine," I said calmly and grab the glass of mango juice. "Would you mind telling your name, I seem to forget."

I was sure that I spoke calmly but she was panicking, telling me that I was in need of checkup which I strongly against it.

"I don't want them to worry and it's my own fault that I lost my memories. Can you keep it a secret between us?" I looked at her with wide eyes and pouted lips when the maid was about to disagree with me. "Please?"

She was hesitant but eventually gave in to the puppy eyes. Who just couldn't resist from the cuteness?

I quietly thanked my little brother and my cousin for I had applied their techniques in this situation. I better find some clues to how I could go back to my real-world faster.

"Okay, Miss," she said in defeat and mumbled to herself, "Becoming your accomplice for keeping your illness to your family, I should find another job soon."

"Don't be exaggerated. It's not like I killed someone and you're my asset to my crime. And it's not an illness, it just happened that I don't remember anything before the incident."

"Please don't brush it off just like that, Miss," the maid begged.

"Anyway, I am still a child. And children tend to forget their younger memories as they grow old so, there will be no problem. And I have you. You'll help me remember the things that I need to know."

The maid looked at me warily. "Is it because you lost your memory that's why you sounds so smart and mature?"

I pursed my lips. This will be tough, having to act like a child. "Perhaps," I said looking down at the food.

What a pain.

Now that everything was settled between me and the maid who introduced herself as Edith, we moved to phase two.

Seated on the bed I listened to Edith as she rambles about what was the young lady of the house like and what kind of family she has. And also about this world.

"In order for Miss to understand more about the kingdom let's go to the map," Edith said with enthusiasm and quickly went outside. I followed her since I have no other option. She seems to like teaching.

Kingdom, huh.

Now that I think of it, after hearing the words crown prince and kingdom one thing that had popped into my mind, which were; Early centuries. Medieval. Castles. Horses. Knights.

But then looking around, everything screams modern. A flat-screen tv, a mini-refrigerator, an aircon, and whatnot.

Perhaps I was in England? But the accent was different.

I was deep in thoughts when Edith came to a stop that I almost bumped into her.

She gave me an excited smile before opening the door.

The room was a library, a small cozy library. Ceiling to floor bookshelves that covered the three walls, velvet couches, and chairs, coffee table, warm color lamps on the tables and walls, thick curtains tied on each side of the windows and a large table in the center of the room that it almost took half of the space of the room.

Edith pulled a chair towards the large table and carried me up which was unnecessary since I could do it myself. Standing on the plush chair I was amazed at the table. The map wasn't a flat paper but it was the table itself carved into a miniature version of the land. There were small mountains, hills, trees, and rivers. It was just like in the Dragonstone.

You're always my queen, Khaleesi.

A tear rolled down my cheek. The pain of my queen's death was still raw as if it was just yesterday.

"Why are you crying, Miss?! Did I do something to make you cry? Was it the dust in here? I should have clean this room better, I'm sorry."

I gave the maid a sad smile. "I'm just paying my respect for my queen."

[A/N: If you haven't watch GoT. Please do ignore this]

I ignored how she looked at me and stared at the map. The land was just a part of the world. I mentally read the name of the continent that was made of gold on the lower left of the map:

Euxenia.

Euxenia was shaped like an inverted and deformed looking pear.

Edith stood across from me. "The continent of Euxenia have three kingdoms; Ciandalle, Aragonia, and Shreave."

The Kingdom of Ciandalle was located at the top where it has the largest part of the land. While Aragonia and the Shreave Kingdom share the same size of the land with thick forest that separated the two kingdoms. A small castle was placed on each territory

As for the Kingdom of Ciandalle, there was no miniature castle but four shaped minerals were placed. A diamond shape made of gold, a three-leaf clover shape made of emerald, a spade shape made of lapis lazuli and a heart shape made of ruby. They were the same size as Edith's fist.

I already had calculated the amount when it all combine. It would help me to have my one year off from work, perhaps more. I could leisurely relax with the two people I love.

"What do these means? Is it a symbol?"

"I didn't think that you'll notice them as a symbol, Miss."

"What do you mean?"

"If your memories are back you'll probably take them and place it in your room," she said.

I was planning too, though.

"A symbol of what?"

"It's the symbol of the main courts of the kingdom, it's also called the Court of Cards. As you can see, each has it's own land to govern."

"Like a capital?"

"Something like that but smaller. For this one," Edith pointed the diamond shape that was near the border of the two other kingdoms, "the gold diamond shape is called Court of Diamond." She pointed out the next mineral.

Court of Spade was on the eastern side, Court of Clover was on the northern side and Court of Heart was on the west side.

"Hmmm." I hummed as I stare at each symbol. They were surrounding a larger land in the middle. There's no label on it, unlike the rest. "That's why it's called Court of Cards since it consists of Heart, Diamond, Spade, and Clover. What about this part?" I pointed the center but then I realized and said in a whisper, "The heart."

"That's correct, Miss. This is where everything takes place. The Royal Capital."

"Is there no symbol for the Royal Capital?"

"It has. A prism."

"A prism?" I echoed.

"It's no ordinary prism, Miss. When the light passes through the prism it will only disperse one color."

"Where is it?"

"Safely hidden in the palace."

"Why?"

"It's the only one prism that could do it." When she saw my suspicious look she added, "It's not fake, Miss. As of now, the prism gives a yellow color. It will change color by the time a new ruler sits on the throne."

I wanted to see it.

"Do we live at the Royal Capital?" I asked.

"Soon. Since you'll be coming back to school this September. Oh, I hope Miss will be alright with the coming exams, after missing the whole first semester because of that chickenpox you had. Then there's the candidate selection for the crown prince's consort a month ago. Your schedule was very hectic that you can't go to school and couldn't see the crown prince there."

A feeling of unsettlement sat on my heart.

"Edith," I said.

"Yes, Miss?"

"On what symbol am I?"

"It's the ruby heart."

"I see. Then what standing do my parents have in society?"

"Master and Mistress are the Duke and Duchess of Heart."
