Chapter 29: Form An Alliance

BACK TO APRIL 1

Boris slipped on a pair of gloves and took the envelope from Felix's hand. He laid down a handkerchief on Dominic's desk before placing the envelope on the handkerchief.

Felix watched Boris as he slowly opened the letter, cold drafts filled the room as not a word was muttered to him.

"You aren't going to ignore me are you? Don't be so petty," Felix laughed.

"I assumed you had enough common sense to realize when you weren't needed anymore," Boris replied, "although I'm not sure how much was wasted before this."

Felix stood bewildered at Boris' nonchalant behavior, "turns out I was the only one excited for this meeting."

Boris stopped opening the envelope and looked up locking eyes with Felix, "Not sure anyone would be happy when encountering a snake. Nevertheless, for the second time."

"I take it you don't want to see me?" Felix pushed.

"If you know, then let's stop wasting both of our time and get out of the room. I didn't think the door was that hard to find," Boris sighed, turning back to the envelope.

Felix looked away and let out a shaky breath before turning back to Boris, "I'm sorry."

Boris didn't even bother to pay attention to the conversation anymore.

"It has been years Boris, seven to be exact and you still act like that," Felix sighed, "why can't you just grow up, I apologized several times, there's literally nothing else I can do."

"You're right, it's been seven years and yet the idea of death being so permanent just hasn't seen to hit you yet," Boris chuckled, his voice dripping in venom as he stared at Felix, "I told you one thing to do, never appear in my life again and yet you just couldn't seem to execute it as well as you did when you passed the blame onto me, killing my family. The funny thing is, along with death, the idea of you being locked up in the dungeon below the castle floors until you rot away, also seems quite permanent. We could try it out if you continue to insist on invading my life."

"Boris please listen to me," Felix begged.

"Dungeon it is, it'll be fun to have something to do around here even for a few minutes since the castle seems so quiet after my king left." Boris sighed, standing up from Dominic's chair.

"Boris wait," Felix begged, grabbing Boris' hand. Boris looked down at his hand in disgust, feeling his skin burn from his contact, "Boris, please, join an alliance with me."

They stood there for a second as Boris let the words sink into him.

"Pfft," He chuckled, shaking off Felix's hand, "seven years can do a number on someone's mentality."

"Boris, I'm not joking, read the letter," Felix urged, "then you can decide whether you want to join our alliance."

Boris looked down at his hand, "and I'm serious too, my hand isn't some rope you can play tug of war with, neither is my heart, so leave, please."

Felix looked at his hand and sighed, "I don't know how many times I need to apologize, I don't know what I need to do to fix this."
