Chapter 55: Marcus Fernandes
Zio saw this middle-aged man and was surprised by the powerful aura that surrounded him.
'How strong is this person?'
Zio asked Asura.
[He is a lot stronger than that Vice Principle you saw in the academy]
Asura answered.
Zio didn't say anything and just watched the middle-aged man walk towards them.
"Grandpa"
Selistia smiled and walked towards him and gave him a hug.
"Haha, I see that you are very happy, it looks like you did great in the entrance exam"
He said and smiled.
"Yes, I will definitely get in the top 10"
She said as her voice was filled with joy.
"Good, that's my little princess"
He said and patted her head, he then turned his head and looked at Zio.
"And who is this?"
He asked Selistia.
"Grandpa, his name is Zio and he is my friend"
She said and smiled.
"Friend?"
He exclaimed as his eyes went wide and his hands shook a little and he looked at Zio, he is shocked by Selistia's use of the word 'friend', he has never heard her mention any friend of hers from a very young age and now she suddenly has a friend.
The only person his granddaughter has been friendly with is her personal maid who grew up with her and nobody else, but now she suddenly has a friend.
"Yes, I owe him a lot, not only did he save my life but also is the reason I will be able to enter the academy"
She said while looked at Zio.
"Oh? What happened?"
He asked as he got curious.
"Well, I came across a Hawk monster that was at Energy manipulation level and I couldn't defeat it"
She said a little embarrassed.
"WHAT?"
Her grandfather suddenly shouted with anger and released massive pressure which caused everyone to get on their knee, even Zio felt the pressure but he didn't want to go on his knee so he used all his strength to keep standing.
"GRANDPA"
Selistia suddenly shouted as she got pissed by her grandpa's action, hearing her scream he quickly retracted his aura but he also noticed that his granddaughter's new friend was able to withstand his pressure.
He is really surprised, he realized that the boy that his granddaughter befriended might not be so simple.
"How dare the academy be so careless, shouldn't the monsters that infested the forest should only be at peak Fundamental level, I will go and have a word with them for putting my princess in harm's way"
He said and grumbled angrily, he then checked her and found some talon marks on her hands, he is really furious right now.
"No, don't do that, you will embarrass me, and you don't need to get involved, as I said, Zio helped me by killing that monster, if he had not come in time, I would have died so I owe him a lot"
She said with a firm voice making her intention clear to her grandpa and telling him that she won't tolerate any bullying against Zio.
"You both must have worked hard to take down the monster, I am proud of you"
He said and patted Selistia's head showing that he is really proud of her.
"Well... I didn't do anything, it was Zio alone who killed the monster"
She said embarrassed, she couldn't just take credit for someone else's achievement.
Once again her grandfather is shocked as he looks at Zio again, he could tell that Zio is at peak fundamental level but he could kill a monster than is at the Energy Manipulation level, this was something that only happened through luck and that too was rare.
Monsters are very brutal, even though they lose some of their intelligence and go berserk, they still have their senses and instinct that helps them hunt and kill others beast and humans.
"I see, why don't you go and wash up while I talk to your friend, maids take her to her room"
He asked the maids to take Selistia away while he talks with Zio, the maids nodded and guided Selistia back to her, on her way she glanced at Zio and her grandfather and wondered what they are going to talk about.
Once Selistia was gone, only a few maids, the butler, Zio, and Selistia's grandfather are left.
"Boy, follow me"
Selistia's grandfather said and walked towards an area filled with chairs and sat down, Zio looked at him and followed behind and sat down as well, when Selistia's grandfather saw this he was a little stunned, he didn't expect the boy to be so forward as he didn't even ask for permission to sit even though he is standing in front of the Grand Duke.
But he didn't say anything as he remembered his granddaughter's voice inside his head, he cleared his throat and looked at Zio who is looking around the mansion.
"What was your name again, boy?"
He asked.
"Zio Asura"
"Zio Asura? Asura? Where have I heard this surname before?"
He started to wonder but he couldn't remember any family that had this surname.
"You don't know about it, I come from a hunter's family, my family has lived in isolation inside forests for a very long time"
Zio answered.
"I see, so boy, you killed a monster that is one stage higher than you, how did you do it?"
He asked.
"I shot it down"
"You shot it down?"
"Yes, I shot it down"
Zio nodded and wondered if this man in front of him has a hearing problem.
Marcus Fernandes, that is his name, looked at Zio and finally noticed his Religan that is behind his back.
'What a powerful Religan'
He thought.
This was the best Religan he has ever seen in his life, even his pale in comparison to the bow behind Zio's back.
"How did you get that Religan boy?"
He asked as he is very curious.
"A Wyvern came and asked me to be its partner"
This is the story that Asura came up with for Zio, so when people ask where he got the Religan, he needs to say it.
"A Wyvern you say?"
He asked as another surprise overwhelmed the man, he realized that his granddaughter has befriended a big fish, Wyverns are very powerful magical beasts, and where ever they live, the dominate that landscape and are the apex predator of that area unless they live alongside Dragons or other Mythical beasts.
While he was wondering about Zio's Religan, Zio was confirming his theory of this man in front of him having a hearing problem because he once again repeated the thing that Zio already answered.
