Chapter 78: Move
True to my words, I steered clear of the guild. "Where should we go today, White Bun?"
"Food!!" He threw his paws in the air and yelled. I turned to him with a raised eyebrow. I pulled my gloves on and strapped on my eye patch.
"Is food the only thing ever on your mind?"
"But...Miss, you promised to get me snacks!" He whined.
"I know, I know," I laughed "Let's go to the clothes store first, I need more clothes,"
"This always happens!!" He pouted, crossing his paws, revealing his bulging belly.
"It'll be fine, I'll be fast," I finished getting dressed and tied my hair in a ponytail. I strolled through the isles of the clothing store and found palm-less gloves. Finding it perfect for my burnt palms, I picked it up. I grabbed a few dresses and underpants. Afterwards, I headed to a weapon store and restocked my stash of sickles and daggers.
"When you said self-care, I didn't think this!" White Bun whined into my ear, while perched on my shoulder.
"What did you mean? I'm not taking quests, isn't that enough?" I tilted my head in confusion.
'I don't think that's how it works,' Al chimed in
"I think this is enough," I shrugged and entered the Silver Spoon. "From now on be quiet, White Bun," I reminded.
"Yes, Miss," He said, then sunk into silence. I made my way to the counter and ordered food, one of each on the menu. I settled down in my seat and nibbled on a sandwich.
The door of the restaurant slammed open with enough force to shake the sturdy wooden table. Shaking the plates and bowls on it. From the door, a cute but angry voice rumbled, "WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT GIRL CALLED INDIGO?? I KNOW SHE'S IN HERE!!"
My ears perked up hearing my name, but I resisted the urge to glance over and continued eating my food. White Bun didn't seem even slightly affected and gobbled his food with the same gusto from the very start. I felt a few gazes land on me, but as soon as they flickered towards me they left; it seemed no one cared.
The silence that hung in the air by her sudden appearance instantly simmered away, and the loud chatter began once again. "HOW DARE YOU IGNORE ME?" She screamed again, her high-pitched voice threatening to crack the windows.
It went silent again and everyone turned their heads to glance towards her. "Hey, can you stop making so much noise in the god-damn restaurant?"
"YOU! YOU! TELL ME WHERE INDIGO IS!!" She screamed. I kept my head down, swallowing my food with calmness.
"Figure it out yourself or pay," He didn't throw a glance in her direction and chugged his alcohol down.
"Sal-Sal, why are you causing so much trouble?" I subconsciously turned my head, hearing the familiar voice. Ralph leaned against a pillar, pinching the bridge of his nose. White bandages tightly bound his waist and hand.
'Do they know one another?' I mind-linked Al.
'I suppose they do,' He responded in an uninterested tone.
"Ralphy! I want to find that girl!"
"You mean..." He trailed and his gaze fluttered towards me. "Hah... Sal-Sal," He shifted his gaze, but it was too late.
"Who were you looking at? Was it that girl?"
"No, it wasn't it's nothing,"
"I can tell when you lie Ralphy!" She yelled and stomped towards me. Her face was beet red from anger blending with her crimson hair tied into pigtails. "It's you, right? The bitch who stole my Ralphy boy's attention!" She accused and nudged her finger into my shoulder.
I looked up, meeting her indignant gaze, "Move,"
"What?"
"I said get your grimy finger off me, pipsqueak," I said through grit teeth, enunciating pipsqueak.
