Chapter 29: 29 | Raven's Nest 2

My life with as a prisoner became better ever since that masked Raven came back. The two ladies never bothered me again, but I still laid in bed sick. Everyday was a cold day, I was lucky to even have a bed and a blanket.

Sometimes the masked Raven would check up on me. Probably to see if I was dead or not. I hadn't had the strength to get up and tend to my wounds, so I bled a lot. It was also probably infected considering how painful my thigh wound felt everytime I moved.

One day the masked Raven stood next to me and watched me as I shivered in the cold. He stared at me for a long time before asking,

"Are you dying?"

"... Probably." I replied. I felt like I was dying.

"I'll gouge your eyes out before you do then."

"..." My eyes again? "What will you use it for?"

"What's the point in telling a dying man?"

"Because dead people can't speak."

"..." He stood silent for a while before saying, "To unseal a certain tomb and bring chaos to this dreadful world."

"Isn't there already enough chaos in this world?"

"How so?" He glares at me.

"Humans eating other humans, the living dead, wars, monsters... There's already so much."

"Your point is?"

"..." I don't understand him.

The masked Raven reaches for my right eye as I shut them close, but he didn't touch me. Instead he pulled off the bandages on my neck revealing the scar Raiya had given me a long time ago.

"You're covered in scars." he stated. "You don't look like someone who can fight, you can't properly write, and you can't feel anything with those hands of yours. These are scars from abuse. It makes me wonder why you aren't filled with hatred for this world."

"I'm not really sure what you mean by hatred. I've never felt it before." I replied.

The masked Raven just stared at me as I wondered how long I've been imprisoned here. It could have been days or weeks already, but I could never keep track of time.

Suddenly I was pulled up by the masked Raven. He threw me in a cold tub of water. I was definitely going to die after this bath, but he placed his hand over the surface of the water and it warmed up. I had been suffering from the cold for such a long time that the warm water had made me want to sleep in the bath forever.

My mind began to wonder again. As a prisoner I should've been thrown into a small cage, but here I was given a room and a bath. Why was I getting different treatment from regular prisoners? I didn't understand.

I glanced at the masked Raven. His aura was a deep dark blue, almost black. Those two ladies had dark auras as well, but green. The colors must represent their elemental traits and if so, then what does gray mean? and What about the shades of colors? ZhouHan had a bright green color, but the two ladies were dark green. Raiya also has a dark shade of red. Could it be their thoughts? Emotions?

"What are you waiting for?" the masked Raven asked.

As he walks off, I begin to wash myself with great effort and energy. In the end, I fell asleep in the warm bath. After a while, someone begins to wash my hair and brush it. I could hear him say,

"Why do you always make me worry."

The day after I woke up on the bed dressed in black robes. My head pounded in pain and my fever was still high. I had that dream again. Where someone took care of me and worried for me. Another dream too good to be real.

Suddenly there was a huge bang and the room shook like an earthquake. The masked Raven runs into the room heavily injured.

"We're leaving." He said as he released the chains on my ankles and pulled my arm along.

"What's happening?" I asked.

"Junhe!" A voice too familiar shouted out for me. I know that voice. A low and deep voice always filled with annoyance and anger whenever I was around. I didn't look back. I was too scared to see his face. A face that was always filled with anger and resentment. I ran.

We went through tunnels, rooms, and down stair cases. The masked Raven was slowly losing energy. He was wounded and left a trail of blood everywhere we went. It wasn't till he finally collapsed against the rocky walls holding onto his stomach wound. I lifted his arm over my shoulder and dragged him as we hid in a corner.

It seems like we're underground. The area was moist and there's wasn't much of a path. The masked Raven coughed out a mouthful of blood.

"Why didn't you run?" he asked. "You could have easily shaken me off and return back with that person."

"...I-I don't want to go back." I replied. "I wanted to disappear, but it never seems to work out that way."

I couldn't help, but smile and laugh a little. I tore up pieces of my robes to help dress the masked Raven's wounds. His eyes radiated in the dark like stars as he watched me. I untied his robes to look at the wound. He had a huge slashes and several other cuts on his body. His body was also covered in old scars and whip marks.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"I'm tending to your wounds. Do you think you have enough strength to cleanse it before I wrap it?" I asked, but he didn't move. He just stared at me.

I wrapped up his open wounds as he laid there. I then proceeded to help him walk further, but I didn't have the strength. I was running with a fever afterall. I pulled him into another corner and sat there without an ounce of energy left.

"Sorry. I don't have the strength to help you." I said.

"You must be an idiot. I'm a Raven, your kidnapper, and someone who will kill you in the future. If you let me live now, I'll come back to take your life."

"That's okay." I smiled. "At least someone will want this pathetic life of mine."

"Your name was Junhe, right? That person chasing us, didn't he come for you?"

"I'm sure you're mistaken. That person really hates me. These scares are proof of that hatred."

"Is that so..." he pondered.

Foot steps began to approach towards us as I scooted in closer to the masked Raven. I feared that Raiya would find me and if he did then I wouldn't know how to face him. My body began to tremble from the thought of seeing his cold and angered face.

I looked up to see the Raven covered in cold sweat. He was in pain and if he got caught, Raiya might kill him too. I needed to get Raiya away from him.

"I can act as a decoy to save you some time. You should take my eyes now if you need it." I said, but he just looked at me with his eyebrows creased.

He reached his hand out towards my face and I shut my eyes preparing myself for the pain, but instead I was pushed out of the corner and he ran off into the dark. My back ached as I slowly got up only to feel the presence of someone standing behind me.

"Why did you run?" Raiya asked.

My body trembled from the tone of his cold voice. He was angry with me. I didn't know how to respond to his question. He clicked his tongue and pulled my hair up as he yelled out,

"Why did you run?!"

"Ah! P-please stop. It hurts." I begged, but he didn't stop.

He was angry as he pulled me by the hair towards the exit. I fell to my knees and he just kept pulling.

"Stop! What are you doing?!" ZhouHan yelled as he punch Raiya. "Junhe, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. It's okay."

"Stay out of it. He's my problem to deal with." Raiya interjects.

"He's no longer part of the Yun clan! You can't treat him like this!" ZhouHan argues back, but Raiya didn't care.

He grabbed ZhouHan by the collar and whispered, "I said, stay out of it." and then pushed him aside.

Raiya carried me over his shoulder and flew out of the Raven's territory. He stopped in the middle of the woods and threw me onto the ground. Then he proceeds to pick me up by the collar and slammed me against the tree.

"You still haven't answered my question." he said.

"... I-I don't want to be near you." I replied and he laughed.

"So you're finally showing that you hate me."

"No. You're wro-"

"No. I'm sure of it, considering how you ran away the moment I called out to you, but I really can't let you out of my sight anymore. Especially with those eyes of yours."

He let go of my collar and I fell to the ground. I watched his back as he turned away before I finally fainted from the fever.
