Chapter 247: We start in 15 seconds
Ying Yue arrived in Juyan not a minute later than five in the morning. She felt her cheeks get hot every once in a while, even as she was busy keeping up with the work she'd set aside last night. Since she gave Xi Shenghui the day off, she had to do all the work herself today.
Her eyes focused on the file she was holding. It was a background check on Su Jianjun's assistant. He seemed clean -- a university graduate with a major in economics, good grades, no criminal records. The only unusual thing about him was that one year of volunteer military service he'd done after graduating, and the year after that which showed no records of anything he'd done. He hadn't done any work; did that mean he remained a bum at home? And after that gap year, he became employed under Su Jianjun as his assistant.
It was suspicious. How would a young man with no work experience get hired like that?
Her eyes rolled. Maybe she was thinking too much? She hadn't even finished college but she was hired by Fei Huangjin on the spot.
Her stomach growled furiously, making her feel deflated. She hadn't had time to get breakfast because of her perverted husband. She sighed. The cafeteria wasn't open until half past six.
"Hi, are you busy?" She poked one of the tech team trainees who was yawning in his seat.
He stood up abruptly, surprised that the new boss had noticed him. "Ma'am shadow fox! I'm--I'm at your service!"
She blinked. "Um, could I ask you to run down to the convenience store for a few minutes?" She handed him some cash. "I just need a cup of instant noodles. And, uh, you can skip the ma'am. Just call me shadow fox."
His face reddened. And then he lowered his head at her direction as he took her money. "I'll be back in five minutes!" He ran off quickly, making her grimace.
Ying Yue sighed as her stomach gave off another angry growl.
One of the senior tech team members then called out to her "Shadow fox, operation 419 will commence in two minutes."
She nodded, ignoring her hunger at the moment to focus on the ongoing project they were working on. She walked forward and stood at the center of the room, looking up at the large screen up front. "Give me a visual on our spy. And pull up the satellite on the facility. Everyone, remember that the location is somewhere we're not familiar with. We have to be careful." She trained her eyes forward, narrowing at the screen. This operation was taking place at another city far from here, where they had few to no men to help out if anything went wrong over there.
Her hands tingled. For some reason, she felt uneasy about this. She should've sent over more spies to scout the place beforehand.
"Stations two, three, four, and five, monitor your respective areas. Station 1, how's our spy doing?"
"He's ready to go in any minute now!"
Her eyes shifted to the video playing on the right side of the screen where another back-up spy was recording a live feed of the entry and exit point. His job was simply to make sure the main spy finishes the job, and to clean things up if something goes astray. "We start in 15 seconds." She crossed her arms in front of her.
"15 seconds, start the count down!"

"Sir," Su Jianjun's assistant came up behind him, making him pause what he was doing to turn to him. It was too early for just anyone, but Su Jianjun had the odd habit of sleeping and waking up earlier than normal, so his assistant had to adjust to this, too. "I believe Juyan has taken in our commissioned project and they are pushing with it this morning."
He sat back and rubbed his lower lip. "Is everything in place?"
"Yes, sir."
"Make sure the men you've hired keep quiet. Nothing about what happens today should come back to me. Or you. With how sharp she is, I suppose she's investigated you by now."
The assistant pursed his lips. ���I've taken precautions, sir."
Su Jianjun nodded. What they've planned today needed to be carried out so they could get to the girl. She was too smart for her own good, so he had to plan everything meticulously.
