Chapter 2: Reawaken

I moved my eyes around the room, analyzing my surroundings. There was a closet in the corner of the room to my left, and next to it was a desk with a laptop on it. In front of me was a bookshelf. The first two rows were filled with books, and the rest were filled with small figurines from animes and characters from different videogames. I look down and saw I was laying on a bed with the sheets pulled up to my neck.

*Where am I?...is this....my room?*

I lifted myself up, my eyelids squinted from the bright light the ceiling fan was illuminating. my head ached from temple to temple.

"finally up I see." said a familiar voice.

I turned my head to see a women standing at my doorway. She had smooth tan skin, black hair that reached her shoulders, and hazel eyes. She seemed to be in her late thirties, maybe early forties. She was holding a tray that had a bowl and cup on it.

She walks over to me still holding the tray and I looked at it. The bowl contained tomato soup with a spoon inside, as for the cup, it was a glass of water that seems to have something dissolved in it. She sents the tray at the foot of my bed.

"How are you feeling?" she asked me in concern, placing her palm on my forehead.

"Seems like you still have a fever" she said, taking her hand off me.

I look at her in confusion. Who is she? Why does she care so much about me? Why does she seem so familiar? I had so many questions in my head, that it only increased the splitting headache I had.

I held onto my head, feeling dizzle and weak. The women held onto my shoulder, helping me steady myself.

"Woah there birthday boy, can't have you fainting again on this special day." she gives me a settle smile, warming my heart.

*Wait, what does she mean birthday boy? Is today my birthday?*

I opened my mouth slowly, my throat felt dry and soar, trying to say something; but before I could say something, she interrupted me.

"Me and your father got you a gift." she said to me, reaching behind her back.

I looked at her arm in curiosity, wondering what she means. she slowly pulled out her arm, revealing a mask. I stared at the mask.

It had a simple design. Completely white with two slits for the eyes, and two lines that lead from the bottom of the mask to about an inch or two from the slits, then curves around it like a sideways U. the line on the left was a bright gold and the line on the right was silver. it also had a chip at the bottom left near the chin part.

she noticed me looking at the chipped part on the mask and told me.

"We got it custom made for you, but once we got it, it dropped and a piece broke off, hope that doesnt bother you." She handed me the mask and I grabbed it.

I rub my hand on it. It felt smooth and soft. it didnt seem to be made out of wood nor metal, but it had a strange...Aurora around it.

I shook my head at her, reassuring her that I like it. She then smiled at me.

"Can you tell what's it's based off of?" she asked me.

I look at her for a second. I saw the excitement fill her eyes.

*Was the design of this mask from somewhere important?*

I shook my head slowly. She pointed at the wall next to my bed.

"Its the mask you drew." she told me, still pointing at the wall.

I looked up at the wall and saw a bunch of drawings of weapons, armors, creatures and clothing all over the wall. I look at all of them in amazement on how much detail each one had.

*Did...did I draw all these?*

I continued to look at the drawings till I saw one that look just like the mask I had in my hands.

I looked at the woman, smiling at her.

"Thank...you....mom" I said, my mouth feeling parched.

*Mom...that's who this person was...she was my mother.*

She rubbed my head, getting my hair all messy.

"Why dont you put it on and see how it fits?" she asked me.

I looked at the mask. a sudden chill ran down my spine. I hesitate for a second, feeling unsure. I turn the mask over to the inside. there was nothing on it, just a normal mask.

i closed my eyes andslowly I put it on, hoping nothing will happen. I felt the smoothness of the mask press against my face.

I opened my eyes, looking through the slits of the mask. I could see perfectly, and I could barely feel the mask on my face now.

i look up at my mom.

"does it fit properly?" she asked me.

I nod my head.

I went to take the mask off but...it wouldnt budge. i pulled on it harder and harder but nothing.

What the heck is going on!?

suddenly, everything started to fade. my mothers voice was fuzzy and low.

"honey, are you ok?" I heard her say as my consciousness faded away.

My vision slowly when to black again, my heart racing from fear.

What's going on?! What is happening?!

I felt my body fade away. unable to move...feel...or even cry for help.

Am...I dying...is this it...

As I felt my body vanish, I looked up, and saw a spec of light floating towards me. I was confused.

What is that? What is going on? Why can I still not remember anything!

I felt my body build up in anger, frustrated with everything going on. As I was penting up with rage, the spec of light floated to my chest.

I tinted my head slowly at it. it just laid there, settled on my chest; and before I had a chance to think, the little spec melted into my skin.

my body felt extremely hot, screaming in agony. I couldn't move, nor shout from the pain. I was forced to stay still as I endured the harsh pain

Please...make it end! I can't take it! Please...just stop!

suddenly...the pain settled and i heard bird chirp in the distance, and a river flowing next to me.

I opened my eyes, looking up at the sky.

*Where....am I?*
