Chapter 126: Guild House

Perseus walked into the adventures guild. Nobody paid any attention to his entrance this time except for a few random people. Perseus walked to the receptionist's desk and rung the bronze bell on the desk.

*ding*

A female voice from the back of the room called out in response to the bell

"coming!"

Perseus gave the person time and looked around curiously. The adventures guild was pretty empty, it seems most of them were out doing quests. Perseus gazed at the bulletin board that had all of the quests available posted on it.

His eyes widened at the large stack of flyers that were posted on the board. There were just an abnormally large amount of quests available, to the extent that some of the flyers couldn't even be posted on the board itself and had to be stuck on the wall next to it.

Perseus gazed at the board a bit more closely. The quest papers usually had the job description, the rank the quest was and a quick drawing or picture of what they needed, it could be a plant if it was a herb gathering quest. It could be a large orc if they needed to kill some orc's or a wagon if they needed to transport or protect a person.

From what Perseus saw, most of the flyers were actually monster extermination quests they had drawings of kobolds orcs goblins and all sorts of monsters. It seems that monsters had started to increase was in urgent need of extermination. That was probably why the adventures guild was currently empty.

Well, that would be fully good for Perseus's guild, the more monsters there were, the more EXP the kids could get and therefore grow. Besides he still had to get the weapons and spare skills his master had.

"alright i can attend to you now"

Perseus turned around to see the receptionist he was dealing with jump back in surprise. She pointed at Perseus with a shacky finger

"y-you what are you doing here? did you finished all of your quests?"

Perseus sighed and answered calmly

"yes, and I'm here to do some other stuff too."

The receptionist smiled at Perseus's sigh mistaking it as a sigh of sadness,

"its alright, Perseus, even though making the guild was a waste of money I'm sure that you'll find outher ways to prosper in fact, big sister here has a job..."

Perseus slid the guild house token over the desk

"I would like to redeem this"

The receptionist looked at the token with surprise, she examined it closely, her entire body bending forward to look at it. It took her five seconds to figure out what it was, she snapped her head back to look at Perseus.

"where the heck did you get this?"

"Perseus answered with a lie he had prepared since he anticipated it.

"I found it while defeating some bandits."

The receptionist stared at Perseus in the eye with a skeptical look in her eye.

"really? you defeated some bandits?"

Perseus answered cooly

"yup,"

The receptionist pushed up her glasses

"then prove it Perseus"

Perseus then slid the ring he had taken from the bandit leader, across the table. He started at the receptionist with a bit of ridicule in his eyes. The receptionist lady grabbed the ring and started to examine it. She grabbed a little wooden micorscope and started to peer even closer at the mark on the ring.

Perseus heard her mutter to herself

"that is the mark of the bandit dark guild, but their's something different about the sign"

She turned back to Perseus and asked him

"you got this from a bandit right?"

Perseus nodded in confirmation. The receptionist rubbed her head in confusion, she said to Perseus after a bit,

"Alright, I can confirm that you have eliminated a bandit. But we will investigate what rank the rings sign it. If its a higher rank, the better rewards you get. But that means we will have to take it in for investigation. Is that okay with you?"

Perseus again nodded and the receptionist placed the ring on a metal case next to her. The receptionist then let out a breath and addressed the elephant in the room.

"okay, if somehow you did get this token off of a bandit then that bandit was by no means a low ranking one. Perseus, you're lucky for surviving up to now."

Perseus just wanted the conversation to end so he just answered passively

"yeah im lucky, so how about the guild house token?"

The receptionist straightened her back and said with pride.

"the guild house token is a specific token that higher-ups in the adventures guild use as a way to invest, or reward guilds. It's very valuable even to a bandit because it means that they defeated one of the higher-ups and looted and took his stuff. The token when redeemed, lets the guild of choice by a guild house, with the price being covered completely by the adventures guild."

The receptionist went to the back again and after a few sounds of rustling and digging through some books and shelves, she came back holding a thick book. She placed it on the desk and the weight of the book made the table squeak and groan.

"this here is our selection of guild houses available in this city, anything you choose is free!"

Perseus said quickly,

"what's the most expensive place?"

The receptionist's smile dropped down a bit and she sighed

"it's always that exact question. Why don't they think about the guild's expenses?"

She flipped through the book and ended on a page with a large white mansion surrounded by walls that had green vines growing up it and a rusty black gate. On the side of the picture was a blueprint of the place.

The receptionist pointed to the picture

"This is the mansion of a fallen noble. It's still worth quite a bit, even though its a bit dirty but it comes with a large courtyard, 9 bathrooms, and 40 bedrooms. In total it costs 1000 gold coins."

Perseus gazed at the blueprint, to be honest, he didn't like it. The mansion seemed empty with nothing useful except for the fact that it was large and could fit multiple people. He looked at the receptionist lady again

"is that really the most expensive one?"

The receptionist lady immediately started to sweat and averted her eyes.

Perseus stared at her until she was forced to look back at him, she said meekly,

"there are some more...."

"show me"

The receptionist started to turn the pages trying her best to advertise each and every one.

"This one is a nice garden house, surrounded by rare flowers and trees alike, it will give you and your guildmates a sense of peacefulness."

"boring"

"how about this one it's a peaceful cottage in the outskirts and it...."

"nope don't even try, continue"

"ugh, fine this is one that costs 1200 gold coins its a house in the inner city, and has a great location."

Perseus briefly glimpsed at the page, it was a cramped house it seems, not a house that could fit 30 or more people. Perseus looked at her again

"theirs got to be something more expensive than this right?"

The receptionist looked at him again, for a few seconds neither of them said anything, it was just pure tension until finally, the receptionist gave up.

"Fine, there's one last one but I'm not sure if it's suited for you."

[negotiation had succeded +8 points]

[Perseus's negotiation skill level has increased to level 4!]

The receptionist lady turned to an old page at the very back of the book. Perseus saw a 2d picture that baffled him since it didn't help at all. Yet the closer he looked the more understanding he became of why the person who made the page had put it in. There was a large mansion about the size of the fallen noble's house, yet according to the description, it was much more practical than it. The entire back yard of the house/mansion was a dedicated training field/center with practice dummies and archery targets along with obstacle courses and more.

There was a room on the second floor which, was a test room, perfect for alchemy or just in general making stuff. An entire blacksmith was in a shed on the side of the mansion. More rooms with plenty of accommodations for all. A kitchen and dining room that could seat hundreds. And best of all in the master bedroom Perseus saw a tunnel that stretched out into the large hill behind it. Currently, it seems it was just an empty cavern inside the hill, along with an exit out but Perseus saw the immense potential in the cavern itself. If he could extend it so it went deep underground.....

The receptionist was saying something while Perseus was invested into the mansion

"This mansion isn't really a mansion its more of a training battleground than anything else. its more barbaric than anything and has a crude design, yet because most of the furniture and materials left behind, that comes with it, the price of this place is 2000 gold coins, the location of it is also a bit farther away from the center of the city and the guild itself. It would take a while for a person to commute to the guild to do quests and return back. So yeah, I think this is a bad choice"

Perseus lifted his head and looked at the receptionist lady. His eyes glowed with an excited light.

"ill take it"
