Chapter 6: The Third Night - Part 2 - Emotionally Unstable

The fire whelming inside Renir's heart was brimming with lustrous and energy that became fuel to his being.

Renir thrust from the ground and his black and blues were slowly returning to its original pale.

Tightening his stomach and there he saw something that he only dreamt of, it was those muscular abs!

Renir had gone to the harshest training, nonstop and repeat. His whole body was always burning with energy, burning all the fats, and with a day and a half of rigorous movement, muscles formed.

Ecstasy made him smile widely. He didn't question how can it happen, only a day and a half passed by but he improved so much.

But how many hours are there in a day and a half? 36 hours!

Renir had his whole body burning at that time and on top of it, how many calories did he consume?

But Renir shook his head and focused on the slimes. If only they were not after his life, he would've been grateful to them for being a stepping stone towards improvement.

'This is what I've been waiting for there! But here, it was rewarded immediately as long as you survived!'

Now that Renir was back with more fighting spirit, he confronted the larger slime.

With a fresh mind, he thought of a new way to deal with these slimes but it was near impossible with the number of enemies.

However, Renir smiled, "But it wouldn't hurt to try!"

A small slime came flying at him, and for Renir who had majorly fought with the bigger slime felt this slime was slow and weak.

With low effort, he gave a straight jab and popped the slime.

Of course, he was at that position for some time and a lot of slimes already positioned itself to attack as numerous glowed and flattened.

With Renir's quick reflexes, some slime didn't even get to jump or even glow.

He stepped on them like they were prints for dance steps. He had not noticed but his movements were fluid and nearly had grace.

It was truly like he was dancing and the slimes were props to exaggerate the rhythm and every flick of his movements.

Art, as one could call it, but he was far from true art. The truly unbelievable thing was, he was not pursuing art and gracefulness.

Renir smiled wider when he confirmed that he can crush the bigger slime with a stomp, however, this stomp was filled so much force behind that it would make him jump.

And, in mid-air, he absolutely had no way of dodging.

"Aw shit, I messed up.", Renir commented on his disappointment, "That wasn't even a part of my plan."

As he thought, a second before his landing, a few will hit him and one of them was a bigger slime.

Renir clicked his tongue at his stupidity, but no matter how he used his head to think how to evade all the attacks, he couldn't react within a span of less than a split second.

So he left his intuition on what to do.

But he chose wrong for his body only has the intuition to fight head-on, so he punched the bigger slime with great force.

Good thing his body was coursing through the air and the force brought by the bigger slime made him swivel. And that made the other four slimes hit his torso.

But this strange movement still made him land with a strong foothold and abled him to dodge another wave of attacks.

Renir still moved like nothing hit him. It surprised him and gave him a thought, 'Does having muscles make you this durable?'

It hurts but not to the point he would mind it, not like the second night.

Still, when he jumped earlier, he was lucky that only one of the bigger slime jumped at that time.

From the numerous slimes on the ground, the bigger ones had a greater number than the small ones.

And from observation, Renir scaled the bigger slime as big as a human head.

It wasn't that much difference but it really does give the illusion of that slime being bigger because its level of strength, speed, and sturdiness are greater than the small ones.

No, there was one more distinction between the two. The bigger slime still had thread-like energy core but thicker, more interconnected, and had a heavier tint of blue.

'Maybe, I should taste it?', he strangely thought.

Renir couldn't explain it but he was drawn to these energy cores. If those slimes weren't that hard to eat, he would choose them over the magical chylefruit.

'But just once, maybe, I should try the bigger one.', Renir stuck out his tongue and licked his lips as if he was hungry.

His stamina was greater than before that even though he needed a bigger chomp from the chylefruit, he would last longer.

But Renir was able to hold himself and felt he was being deviant. He needed to find more chylefruits as much as possible.

His face frowned when he realized that he could only gather five chylefruits at best with his bag replica using his school uniform.

"Hmm?"

"Where's my shirt?", he patted himself all over to feel a body that wasn't supposed to be his.

A memory flashed in his head; he took his shirt off in front of the cave in the midst of rage.

'That shirt could be made as a bag!', he became so cheap.

But that made him into thinking as he looked back into the mountain from where he came from.

Still avoiding multiple attacks...

The isolated cliff made him reminiscent about the time he was so scared he sobbed. And it wasn't even that long ago, but for Renir who did not sleep and every minute felt like an hour of pain, it was a long time ago.

'Do I really need to go back?', he gave it a thought.

Amidst the battle, his mind soaked in thoughts, and he was doing fine evading all the incoming attacks.

But every time he dodged, the number of slimes increased so Renir was put into the corner again.

Renir had left no choice but to run. He ran farther from the mountain he came from.

The main factor that pushed him into this decision was because of the mountain's shadow.

It was too disadvantageous for him. His only regret was he left his shirt and the torches.

"But wait.", he paused as he moved his head to avoid getting hit on the face.

Renir looked at the moon to determine how much estimated time he had left. If he could, he will go back first and get one of the torches.

After all, he didn't know how to create fire by himself and without the use of tools.

At that time, he thought he would only learn of the time, but as he turned his head upwards, it hit him the reason why the moon was so bright tonight.

"Stars?", Renir was stunned.

If it was any normal stars then he would just be amazed by it, but the sight mesmerized him.

For the moon had stars hovering around it.

No, that shouldn't be the stars, right?

He was not an ignorant person to not know how a star moves: they were practically immutable. There was no way that was a star... but, what else could it be?

Renir rubbed his eyes and looked again. A glint on the edge of his eyes appeared but he didn't notice it, only a small movement of his body was made out of instinct but still, he was unable to dodge a bigger slime's attack.

That strike hit his shoulder solidly and made him stumble on his foothold.

Renir jolted out from his mesmerization and learned that many slimes gathered around him again.

A frown formed in his face, "How many slimes are there?!"

Everywhere he ran, there were numerous of these little monsters. Renir had no escape.

But even though he was in the middle of uncountable slimes, when the moon reaches his sight, his mind would go blank.

There was something about the moon that made his mind drawn to it. And it was definitely about the stars that moved and encompassed the moon.

Renir felt an energy radiating from those "stars"...

Thud* Renir was startled when his back was blocked by a tree. At that spot, he was thrashed by the opportunistic slimes.

His jaw clenched as saliva dripped from his mouth.

Good thing that he was still in the position where the slimes would hit his body not his head.

Renir just felt unlucky that none of the smaller slimes hit him, but all were the larger ones.

He grabbed the chylefruit and ate it whole!

Without hesitation, he sprinted out of the middle of another wave of attack.

His hatred towards these fictional monsters was increasing. Each encounter of these slimes struck a chord on his nerves, and if he were to beat them, it would give him so much relief.

'That explained my joy of fighting earlier.', Renir didn't know how to feel about that, and so, he stopped.

Before the slimes gathered around him, he initiated an offense before the first slime glow and could even flatten itself.

Renir rampaged through these slimes that made him looked like the monster.

Still, no chylefruit to be found.

Renir cursed in his head, 'Ah, damn it!', he left with no choice.

As if he was about to swim in the air, his palm clasped to one another struck a bigger slime that jumped onto him like a spear, and he ripped it apart to catch its thread-like core energy with his teeth!

He chewed as if he was eating a large tough meat before Gulp*

Renir sighed and felt his jaw tired because the bigger slime's thread-like core energy was tougher to bite.

But soon after, that tiredness disappeared along with his whole body.

Renir's eyes rolled and looked at the slimes as if they were prey.

"As long as there's no chylefruit..."

He found no pity towards the slime for his hatred towards them was etched in his burning heart.

Renir hadn't realized he became emotionally unstable.
