Elijahs dad a little tear come out of his eye while looking at his son. He never felt so proud of him before!

-.- -.- -.- -.- -.- -.- -.- -.- -.- -.- -.- -.-

The school day went on with nothing interesting happening. After five hours the day was over and it was time for the kids to go home. Elijah and victor grabbed their dads hand and started to walk towards their home.

When they got to the school gate they stopped and looked towards the school. Elijah asked, "what are we doing?" Victor was also looking towards their parents wondering what they were doing.

Their dad was the one who answered. "We are waiting on some friends. We met them at the conference. You should know their child." Said the dad.

Elijah immediately knew who they were talking about. Throughout the school year he only got to know three people. Emma, Robert, and Tyrone. He met Robert and Tyrone on the play ground.

He was chilling on the swing while reading a book when they came up to him. They started the conversation by asking what he was reading and slowly made it to talking about likes and dislikes.

Turned out they read a lot of the same books. They asked him to play but he said no and just stayed on the swings. Later they kept bothering him until they became friends.

He knew it wouldn't be Tyrone because he didn't have a dad and his mom was working a lot. Well he did have a dad but he hasn't came home yet. He went to get the elusive milk but is still on his journey.

It also shouldn't be Robert because his parents weren't very social. They were scientist and usually believe they were smarter than everyone so they kept away.

So the only last option was Emma. Emma wasn't really a friend to him but more a of a close acquaintance. They often worked together for group projects and spoke two to four sentences a day.

After a minute she and her parents came and greeted them. Emma gave Elijah a head nod and Walked behind her parents. They had a long walk before they arrived at the house.

Her parents, Jennifer and John, complemented their house. They said it looked unique and big. Elijahs family was rather wealthy. Since his dad had a high position in the army he is getting a lot of retirement money.

So they had one of the six mansions that were in the small town. They went inside and sat on the sofa. Elijahs Mom went into the kitchen so make snacks and drinks. Emma's mom joined her.

So it was just the kids and dads sitting in the living room talking. Elijah tried to sneak away but his dad told him to bring Emma with him.

Emma and Elijah went into his room and did nothing. Victor, Saul, and Clara were all in the backyard playing. So it was just them sitting on the bed. Elijah tried and asked, "So... what do you want to do?" Emma gave a shrug and kept looking around.

Elijah shrugged too and grabbed a book. He started reading while Emma just sat on the bed. He tottering neglected her. Emma was nervous. She didn't know what to do. It was boring just to sit their but she didn't know what she wanted to do.

She just started to look over Elijah shoulder and read the book too. She felt happy because he was just begging the book and she wouldn't have to start in the middle of the book.

The name was New England primer and it was pretty good. From reading the book people learned about Calvinist principles. Things like sins. After around five minutes of reading over his shoulder, Elijah finally noticed her.

He then turned around and put the book on both of their laps. They were sitting with their legs dangling of the bed. They continued to read for an hour before their mom and dad walked in. They saw them reading and his mom said, "awww cute," In a low whisper.

They were walked down back to the living room. It was time for lunch. They all sat around the table and Elijahs mom set the table and brought out the food. They were eating shepherds pie.

Everybody sat down at the dinner table and ate. They made small talk about how having children is tuff. The kids just talked to each other while Emma kept to herself. She still listened in on the conversation though.

When she saw them together she wished she had some siblings too. After around thirty minutes and then finishing their food they left. Elijah asked his dad what he and Emma's parents talked about. All he gave as a answer was, "grown up things!"

When Emma got home she asked the same question and got the same answer. When she was leaving she asked to borrow the book from Elijah. She read the rest of the book that night. It was long but she wanted to return the book the next day.

Elijah on the other hand, spent the rest of that night sleeping. She had took the book that he was currently reading and he needed to buy some new ones. He was still happy to give her the book though.

The next day they met up at school. Emma returned the book and looked tired but still happy. "Did you stay up al night? You know you could have taken your time. There was no rush!" Said Elijah. Emma just shook her head and responded to him.

Emma started, "I know. It was a good book. Especially when.." Elijah cut her off. He told her he didn't finish it yet and he hated spoilers. She didn't know what that meant. But figured it was it had to do with her telling him about the book.

At the end of the day they kept talking about the book until they had to go home. They felt like they got a little closer to each other.
