Chapter 37: Don't Want To Be A Coward 4
Yumi knitted her brows as she looked up at the man who is holding the umbrella, "You?!" She blurted out as soon as she saw the guy holding the umbrella!
Yumi's surprised expression slowly changed when she remembered something!
"What are you doing here?!" She asked sternly after a while.
"Did you follow me here?!" she asked as she straightened her body.
"Nope!"The guy instantly replied.
"I just happen to pass by and I saw you here," he added.
Yumi rolled her eyes, 'Yeah right! Why on earth would he follow her here?!' Yumi said to her self.
"What are you doing here alone, anyway?" Jin asked after a while.
"It's none of your business!" Yumi replied sternly.
She doesn't know why, but seeing Jin here only made her feel heavier inside!
She felt like her heart is full of heavy load and it made her feel like it's hard to breathe!
Maybe because she now knows that he doesn't like her back. He just added to the burden that she felt inside!
"You shouldn't be out of here alone at this rainy evening," Jin spoke again.
"Tsss!" Yumi scoffed!
"Stop pretending to be concerned to me, you will only give me false hope," Yumi said coldly.
"What?" Jin didn't know what Yumi meant to say.
"You should go home now if you want to," Yumi did not answer Jin's question.
"How about you?" Jin asked again.
"Just don't mind me!"
"I'm going somewhere!" Yumi already felt annoyed.
"Where are you going at this hour then?" Jin did not stop asking questions to Yumi.
Yumi turned her sharp gaze to Jin, "I said it is none of your business!"
"Don't you get it?"
The heavy rain continued to pour down and only the two of them are left standing there in the park, under the umbrella.
There is silence for a moment between them and only the sound of the rain could be heard in the surrounding.
" Yumi, what do you think you're doing?!" Jin was the one to break the silence.
"Running away from home late at night?"
"Don't you think you're being childish now?"
Yumi's anger arises as soon as she heard Jin's word!
Childish?!
"I'm not being childish here!" She said in a loud voice!
"You don't know what I'm going through right now so stop calling me childish!" Yumi added in anger!
"You don't know what I feel right now, but you judge me so easily!"
Jin went silent.
"I-I'm sorry if I've judge you so easily," He apologized after a while.
Yumi was silent. There is another silence between the two of them again.
Jin gulped before he spoke again,
"I am just worried about you, Have you ever thought of the possible danger when you're outside alone at this late hour?" He asked worriedly.
"I said stop showing your concern to me!" Yumi yelled!
"What is it to you if I'll be in danger?"
"Don't act as if you're a concern to me!"
"We're not even friends!"
Jin started to become agitated by Yumi's response!
"Yes! We may not be friends but I still care for you, Yumi!"
Yumi looked at Jin coldly,
"You only care for me because I am the Young Miss, don't you?" Yumi said bitterly.
Tears started to fill her eyes, but she tried her very best not to cry in front of Jin.
"No," Jin replied in a faint voice.
"I care for you because I do," He added.
"Stop ---" Yumi was about to argue with Jin, but the loud sound of the thunder suddenly resounded followed by the strike of the lightning!
"Aaahhh!!" Yumi screamed as she unconsciously crammed her self into Jin!
She was so startled by the thunder and the lightning!
She got so scared that she buried her face into Jin's chest just to avoid seeing the lighting!
Jin froze when Yumi suddenly shoved her self into him!
He was about to rebuke her, but he felt her body shaking as if she was so frightened!
The lightning struck again, and Yumi got even more scared!
Jin doesn't know how to comfort Yumi and make her feel safe.
All he could do is to just wrap his other arm around her hoping that it would make her feel at ease.
Yumi froze when she felt Jin's arm around her body.
And it made her feel better!
But then, a realization contradicted what she felt inside!
'No, I shouldn't be used to his presence!
It will only make me fall deeper to him!
"Hey!" Yumi pushed Jin lightly which made him step back involuntarily.
"Hey! You'll get wet!" Jin said as he tried to cover Yumi with the umbrella again.
"Why did you embrace me, Huh?!" Yumi throws Jin a sharp gaze.
"What are you saying?!" Jin was stunned!
"I felt your arm around my body!" Yumi argued.
"Ha!" Jin doesn't know whether to laugh or to be irritated, "Young Miss, aren't you the one who crammed yourself in me?" He reminded her.
"..."
Yumi was speechless for a moment, but she still tried to think for an alibi!
"I was startled by the thunder and the lightning, I didn't mean to do it on purpose! You should have not taken advantage of me!" She insisted.
"Ah," Jin was almost speechless!
'So, it is now his fault that he wanted her to feel safe?'
The thunder and lightning struck again and Yumi did the same thing as what she did earlier!
She crammed her self into Jin again!
Jin sighs!
'This won't do' He mumbled to himself.
This girl might accuse him of taking advantage of her again!
Jin tried to find a place to hide from the rain.
Fortunately, there's a waiting shed a few meters away from them.
"Let's go to that shed," He said to Yumi, but Yumi was too scared that she only tightened her grip to Jin's shirt.
Jin can feel Yumi's fears, "It's okay, I'll be the first to get struck by the lightning before you," He said.
This time, Yumi straightened her body and she yelled at Jin madly!
"Hey! Do you want to die?! How could you try to make a joke at times like this?" Yumi asked sarcastically.
"Ugh! How can you be so brave and yet you're scared of thunder and lightning?" Jin mumbled.
"What?!" Yumi asked sternly, she barely heard what Jin has said just now.
"Nothing," Jin said.
"I just want to say don't get angry if I do something,"
Yumi knitted her brows, "Something like, what?" She asked.
"Like this!" Jin suddenly pulled Yumi to closer to him again!
It was so close that Yumi can feel his heartbeat!
Yumi's eyes went wide open!
Jin is now embracing her with his left hand while his right hand is holding the umbrella.
Jin guided Yumi to the waiting shed.
He did not lose his embrace on her as they walk towards the waiting shed to prevent her from getting wet with the rain.
It is only when they reached the waiting shed that Jin let go of Yumi.
He took off his umbrella before he held Yumi and let her sat on the waiting chair.
Yumi is silent.
She felt like someone is tickling her heart with every Jin's gesture!
Jin, on the other hand, wish that this moment would never stop!
Just like this, only the two of them and no one would judge them so easily!
But then, Jin really couldn't make the world evolve only on him because, after more than an hour, the rain started to slow down.
The two of them sat side by side and waited for the thunderstorm to stop.
"Where have you been, anyway?" Yumi asked Jin when the rain slowed down.
"Huh?!" Jin looked at Yumi.
"You said, you just happen to pass by and you saw me alone here,"
"Ah... I went to a friend's house..." Jin lied.
"Did you predict that it's going to rain tonight that's why you brought your umbrella before going to your friend's house?" Yumi asked suspiciously.
"Huh?" Jin was almost speechless as he looked at his umbrella.
"Uhm..." Jin tried to find for an alibi, " This is not my umbrella, my friend let me borrow it," He said.
"Lier..." Yumi mumbled.
"I saw your mom use that same umbrella when she went to have a grocery.
"Oh!" Jin blurted out!
'Ugh!'
'Why do I feel like I am caught red-handed!'
"Alright, I admit," Jin said as if he surrendered.
"I followed you here when I saw you left alone," He said.
Yumi turned her head to Jin, "W-What?" She blurted out!
"I was worried about you, so, I followed you all the way here," Jin replied.
Yumi stared at Jin.
She knew she shouldn't be happy just because he cared for her, but she can't help it!
Jin knitted his brows when he notices Yumi staring at him.
"W-Why?" He asked.
"Jin..."
"Is there..." Yumi seems to have second thoughts, but then she chose to finish her word.
"Is there any way that you could like me?"
