Chapter 34: I want my money!
The next day, Jin Mingze left the country for work, and before he did, he didn't forget to remind Ye Shuxin of her work; to take care of Yanyan while he was away.
The days that Jin Mingze wasn't at home were peaceful for Ye Shuxin. There were times where she brought Yanyan out and whenever she did, Haofan would usually accompany them.
Taking care of Yanyan wasn't hard since she was slowly getting used to it.
Later that week, the day of the reunion came. Ye Shuxin wasn't really planning on attending it but… it has been so peaceful for her that it was getting boring on her part. She wanted to do something fun… and by something 'fun', the thought of spoiling Nai Yuge's night came into her mind.
And so, she decided to attend the reunion party.
Since she didn't have any proper dress and accessories with her, she decided to ask help from the man who could afford to buy her needs.
Early that morning, she called him. At first, the call didn't go through since his phone was turned off.
She was desperate so she decided to flood him with messages, such as:
[Answer my call!]
[Jin Mingze!]
[Help me!]
[Call me!]
[Call me!]
[DARLING!]
[HONEY!]
[DADDY!]
[PLEASE CALL ME!!!]
[I WANT MY MONEY!!!]
And so on…
…
Jin Mingze was on the plane so obviously, his phone was turned off. He only turned it on when he arrived at the airport and when he did, he received almost 100 messages coming from one person, Ye Shuxin.
"…"
Just by reading those messages, it gave him a sudden headache. How crazy can that woman get?
He massaged his temple and sighed.
"Welcome back, Chairman." Qiu Landi greeted him as he opened the car door for him.
Jin Mingze's phone vibrated again by the time he entered his car. It was another message from Ye Shuxin.
He heaved out another sigh before he finally called her.
"What is it?" Jin Mingze asked while pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Can I have my salary in advance?" Ye Shuxin asked without holding back. She has been waiting for his call for hours after all.
He raised a brow at her words, "There's still two weeks before your payday."
"But I need them now!"
"What for?"
This guy… How stingy could he get? She has the right to ask for the money she worked hard! "I need to buy something."
"For?"
It was quiet on Ye Shuxin's side for a few seconds before a helpless sigh was heard from her, "I'm going to attend a high school reunion tonight. I need to buy a dress."
A high school reunion?
"Please, just this once. Just this once." She pleaded from the other line.
"Jin Mingze, pleeeease?"
Since she gave him a reasonable excuse, he decided to pay her in advance. "Alright."
"Uwaa! Thank you, daddy! You're the best! I love you! Mwuah! Mwuah!" She ended the call after.
For some reason, Jin Mingze felt his heart race when he heard those simple words: 'I love you' from her. He hid the lower half of his face since he felt his cheeks heat up.
Shit. What was happening to him?
He knew that she probably didn't mean those words but why was he so affected?
Meanwhile, Qiu Landi who was sitting on the passenger seat waited for the call to end and when it finally became quiet at the backseat, he guessed that the call must have ended already.
"Sire, I've brought the result of the test."
The result of the DNA test was actually prepared two days ago and it was given by Haofan to Qiu Landi since Jin Mingze ordered him to so. He ordered his secretary to keep it until he comes back.
Jin Mingze didn't ask what the result was from them since he wanted to see the result in person.
When he heard his secretary's words, he straightened his back and the usual blank look on his face returned. "Give it to me."
Qiu Landi handed the brown envelope to him.
For some reason, Jin Mingze couldn't help but feel uneasy. What if... they were actually related?
He turned to Qiu Landi and asked, "Have you seen the result?"
"Since you didn't give me permission, I didn't dare." Qiu Landi didn't check it no matter how curious he was.
Jin Mingze stared at the envelope for a short while before he opened it and took out the document.
