Chapter 3: 2

"Who did you notice out of the initiatives?" I ask Claec as we make our way towards the training grounds.

My beast was ready for the blood of lesser wolves who dare try to enter our pack. Claec and Slate had a go at them a week ago, like every high rank wolf does. Shade has it set up like a trail. The wolves get a chance to undergo a week training. After that they are required to spare with our warriors, trackers, and our master of arms. If they survive then they have Claec and Slate. Ash and I are the final test. Instructed to show no mercy.

Shade only wants the best.

So, it's crucial for me to ask Claec of what he thought; because we're going in blind.

"One stood out to me," he muse into his cup of coffee.

"Really?"

He smirk nodding his head towards a girl with brown curly hair. I look to Claec with a raised eyebrow with this one. The girl was short, maybe 5'6, and looks to only weight a hundred pounds. I let my beast eye her flawless sunkiss brown skin. She was beautiful, but doesn't seem strong enough by first impression. We push foward a little testing the waters. Everyone eyes turn our way but my eyes lock on her deep brown ones. The girl stumble slightly but her eyes never left mine.

"Interesting choice, Love."

I look away from the initiates warming up near the courses. Claec look to me with a knowing smile as we make our way towards Kedron, our master of arms. Kedron was a tough wolf; narrow shoulders and strong arms, a short torso with muscle tone, straight hips, and long legs. He always keeps his black hair cut short away from his beady hazel eyes. We had grown close, Kedron and I, I've spent most of my childhood out here training with him.

"Morning, Malva. You ready to tear into some asses," Kedron smile pulling me into a hug.

"Always. How do they look this time around?"

He release a sigh glancing over to the group of initiates, "There's some potential in this group, girly. It's just proving that they have it for you."

"And me," Ash perturbed voice stated behind me.

"They have to prove themselves to both of you," Kedron agree, "So, when ever you guys are ready we can start."

I gave him a solid nod looking over to Ash who did the same. A faint smile surface his face as Kedron turn and start barking orders to the warriors and initiates. Everyone move towards the ring while someone went to gather up the initiates. Ash and I stood on either side of the ring next to our mates. The warriors howl and yip in excitement as the final trail was about to commence. My wolf howl in approval shaking out her fur.

"Initiates, this is your final chance to prove your worth in joining this pack," Kedron announce in the middle of the ring.

I look over the eleven wolves who seem to crumble under the amount of tension in the air. My wolves eyes land on the girl Claec mention earlier. Her brown eyes are now wide as the reality of the trail sets in. This is life or death and none of them seem prepared for either outcome.

"Ash. Malva."

"Go get them tiger," Claec growl in my head placing a kiss on my lips.

We rumble at our mates encouragement, taking our place next to Ash in the center of the ring.

"The rules are as follow," Kedron grin devilishly, "prove yourself and they won't kill you."

Ash look to me with a raise eyebrow as a rumble of wimpers sound from the initiates. I only smile, because if me and her agreed on anything... it's that we're the only way into this pack. We were the two most feared wolves in the pack besides the current Alpha and Beta of the pack. It was no doubting how naturally strong our wolves and human forms were.

"Let's get the first three to the ring," Kedron motion to the initiates.

Three stocky men step forward as our warriors howl the start of the commencement. One was tall with short brunette hair, the other two were blonds and about the same height as Claec.

"Let's play," Ash smirk taking off on a full sprint towards our opponents.

My beast growl playfully as we charged right after her. These feet were made to travel at speed and as light as the paws of a alpha wolf. I can feel the alpha blood rush through my veins as my beast comes forward. She's ready to come out and play.

We launch ourselves forward our fist colliding hard into the brunette's right cheek. He snarl, more in surprise, as he stumble back a few feet. I continue in my advance throwing an elbow that he successfully block; while throwing a hard jab into my spleen. I growl lowly at the sharp pain as he connected another blow into the center of my chest. My beast guide my hands up; gripping his head and slamming it into my knee. Breaking his nose and a few of his front teeth. We toss him to the side finding our mates eyes for half a second before continuing in our terror.

I turned to find Ash almost toying with the two blondies, "You need help, sister?"

"No," she calls kicking one off her, "go ahead a pick you out a pair!"

I roll my eyes for show, turning to face the other initiates, "Any volunteers?"

One by one four wolves come charging towards me. I crouch low defensively, eyeing the wolves with calculated eyes. My beast tail sway dangerously in amusement as we pounce at the wolf in front. I curled my hands into a fist and sent a fake towards his upper cheek. He went for the fake leaving his left cheek vulnerable to my left fist. I spun blocking a punch thrown from a she wolf; sending an uppercut into her chin. A kick connected into my gut, but I loop my arm around the wolf leg and toss him across the ring.

"Bullseye," I chuckle as the wolf barrow into Ash opponent.

She growl out when her fist only met air, "Stay in your lane, Malva!"

My wolf let out a wolfish laugh as we continue to beat our way through the initiates. It wasn't long before all eleven of them had found themselves in the ring. At one point I found myself exchanging blows with the brunette I fought from the start. My beast was impressed, noticing his skills and potential. We growl in approval before quickly immobilizing him by breaking both his kneecaps.

"When you heal. We'll see what you got in your wolf form." I smiled, turning away and breaking a neck of a she wolf; who overall been avoiding the fight.

"No mercy for the weak?" Claec chuckle in my head.

"Only for you, Love." I grin, "Pull this one out...he prove himself enough."

A small callous hand slap my shoulders. The wolf pulled me back and sent a hard elbow into my chest. It sent a fresh ripples of pain through my torso. I growl turning to find the she wolf Claec mention earlier. Her wolf eyed me fearlessly as they stalk slowly around me. My beast snap her teeth happily ready to test the female our male approve of.

She lunge at me with a left hook that look almost sluggish. I easily ducked under sending a body shot right into the ribs. The force cause her to stumble back but didn't fall. I covered the distance between us and threw three more punches that cleanly land. A frustrated rumble left her lips as she kick me off her.

"Show me what you got." I taunt, squaring back up.

I watch as she allowed her beast to come foward as I let mine. We went blow to blow; ignoring the pain the other cause. But it was clear that I was connecting more punches and she was weakening quickly. Claec wasn't approving her because of her skills. It was the fire behind her wolfs eyes that guides her. He notice the determination and fight in her wolf to do everything in her power to protect them. And it was that, my beast approve the she wolf greatly, but before I could contain her she was pulled off me.

I turn to find Ash throwing the girl hard into the ground. Her beast let out a threatening growl as the girl scramble up to her feet. Ash took a lurching step foward flashing her fangs angrily. The she wolf stood tall with a growl, but she couldn't hide the scare look in her eyes. She had already took a severe beating from me already. It was evident that another from Ash could possibly kill her. My beast acted quickly as Ash lunged towards the wolf. I grab her fist that was just centimeters away and toss her away from the girl.

Ash skid across the dirt but landed on her feet, "What are you doing?" She seethe out with a growl.

I step forward with my own growl, "We're done here. She has received my approval."

Ash look to me with wide angry eyes, "She hasn't received mine."

My beast narrow her eyes as a rumble ripple through our chest, "Are you saying your Beta's approval is not enough?"

Ash scoff at the question but didn't say a word to answer it.

Soon, Ash and I will take our positions as Alpha and Beta of this pack. The future title of Alpha has made her think she's more superior. Its that reason why she wouldn't understand; that we'll eventually have to start learning how to trust and work together, for the benefit of the pack.

And it piss my beast off because of it.

"Fine," I let out gently, "Claec! What do you think?"

"I approve," he calls from his position outside the ring.

"How about you Kedron?" I question never taking my eyes away from Ash.

"I approve!" he answered with a solid nod.

"Warriors?"

There howls and yips of approval sound over my head.

I nod, raising a questionable eyebrow at Ash, "Is that enough, sister?"

Her beast snarl angrily; not liking her Beta testing her. She push foward but my beast just push back with a snap of her teeth.

"If you want a go, sister?" I grumble into the link, "We can show them what a real fight looks like."

Ash let out another angrily snarl at my words. Her eyes flash to the girl crumbling behind me before returning to mind. My wolf stood over hers, daring, as the wind slowly starts to pick up around us.

"Fine," she mumbles after a long second, "the trail has been commence. Get this clean up and the surviving initiates to the pack doctor."

My beast and I ease up as everyone jump at her orders. Ash sent me one last glare before stomping off towards her mate. I release a sigh turning to the injured she wolf behind me. She shiver slightly in her skin her wide eyes looking up into mind.

"You really approve of me?" she ask in a small shaky voice.

"I approve of your wolf," I corrected, "But we're going to work on improving you."

Her eyes widened even more at my words, but I choose to ignore it for now. I raise a hand and flag down one of our Warriors.

"Be sure to see her to the pack doctor."
