Chapter 10: Protective Brother
Genesis snapped back to reality and took a deep breath in. She inhaled and exhaled to calm down her heart. She ended up choosing a black pantsuit and a matching tank top along with sandals. In reality her ankle already felt better. Her injury was not even severe. She just wanted to use it as an excuse.
She let her hair down and brushed her brown curls. She used some simple jewelry and by the time she was done Aiden came out of the bathroom.
He was wearing a casual outfit. They were both matching their outfits with black and white. Aiden nodded pleased with her options."You look beautiful." He subconsciously said, still admiring her. Genesis blushed and cleared her throat."Thank you...you look handsome too."
He smiled and walked closer to her. He held her hand and the other hand was in his pocket."Let's go.."He told her. She followed along not at all sure if there even is an option to reject.
She felt nervous when she felt his hand on hers. He was just casually holding it but this made her heart run wild. She looked up to see his expression and then lowered her head when he turned to look at her at the same time.
At the moment thirty minutes had already passed by quickly and it was already 7:30 in the morning. When they came down they found that Mr. and Mrs.Miller were already at the dining table waiting for them to join breakfast. Next to them were also two other individuals.
Genesis' face brightened up and she immediately let go of Aiden's hand but he squeezed it tighter to stop her. She frowned and looked back at him."If you run you will fall and get injured again."He explained.
Ethan got up from his chair and walked towards his sister who, in his eyes, is being held captive by a demon overlord. He narrowed his eyes when he saw their hands together.
"Let go of my sister."He warned. Genesis smiled awkwardly. Aiden did not budge."Your sister is my wife what's wrong with holding her hand?"Aiden asked innocently."Heh let's not get too ahead of ourselves…" Genesis interrupted them.
"She's not your wife yet so I will take care of her.." Ethan glared at Aiden and held onto Genesis. Aiden sighed. He let go and walked past him but before that he decided to tease Ethan a little more."YET soon enough she won't even remember you…"He then walked towards his parents and brother Jason.
Ethan's eyes darkened. Aiden had hit his soft spot. Even though he is one-year younger he always acts like the oldest and protects his sister at all costs. The reason why he had called him 'brother-in-law' was because he was happy that in two months he would be able to work with his sister again in their father's company like it should have been.
Aiden only mentioned that he wanted to help her train a little more so that she could confidently take the position as CEO and he would get his old sister back. Aiden never mentioned that he used him to make Genesis work inside his office under his watch. He still has no idea of this.
In reality Ethan might approve of Aiden being a good husband for his sister but he is afraid that his sister will get hurt again just like Genesis is afraid of getting hurt once again. He still holds regrets for what happened a few years ago. Aiden reminding him that he is her fiance only makes him depressed because he won't be able to have his sister under his wing.
Genesis is the same. She lets him believe he is the older brother but at the end of the day she is the older sister and she is always keeping tabs on the people around him in the company making sure that he doesn't get into any trouble or get fooled by people. After all she knows her brother the best and seeing how he was tricked by Aiden it's quite clear somebody else could do the same. This is not exactly a good trait. But Genesis likes to think of it as what makes them bond. This is because they cover each other's flaws perfectly.
Their sibling bond is something to be truly envious of.
Genesis sighed and flicked his forehead."Don't let him get to you. He's just joking."She convinced him and at the same time tried to convince herself with these words. Ethan rubbed his forehead."I trust you." He told her and walked her down where everyone else is sitting.
Genesis shook her head and followed him down."Gen!" Jason called out and waved at Genesis. Genesis waved back and smiled."Good Morning Auntie, uncle." Genesis greeted Mr. and Mrs.Collins.They all greeted each other and sat down for breakfast.
Mr.Miller sat in the front chair and his wife by his side on the left. Jason sat on the left of his father. Aiden sat next to his mother and he pulled Genesis next to him. Ethan glared one last time at Aiden and sat next to his sister.
They all eat their food. Ethan would occasionally answer questions about the company with Mr.Miller but most of the time Mrs.Miller kept the subject focused on how all of them are always overworking and should take good care of themselves. To this they all fell guilty. Once or twice they have pulled all-nighters.
"Mother, father we will take our leave," Aiden told his parents as soon as they finished their food. Genesis looked up in confusion and then remembered he said he would be taking her somewhere.
"You guys should come home more often."Mrs.Miller hugged Genesis and so did Mr.Miller."Take care."He told her. Genesis accepted their care. To her they had become her second parents. After her parents passed away not too long ago she has had trouble but they have always been there to have her back and she could not be any more thankful for that.
Ethan got up and also excused himself. Jason and Ethan too did bid goodbye and they all ended up outside the Miller Residence.
"Where are you taking my sister too?"Ethan asked with displeasure. Genesis hugged Ethan and flicked his forehead."I'll call you later. Let's hang out it has been long since we talked." She told him. Ethan nodded and dejectedly let Genesis board Aiden's car.
Jason used his elbow to budge Ethan's arm."You should trust my brother more. Don't worry I can assure you he will take care of her." Ethan sighed."It is not that I doubt he won't be able to take care of her but…"
"You are afraid she will distance herself from you and hide things again aren't you?" Jason finished his sentence."Mn." Ethan nodded.
