Chapter 2: Dropzone

Everyone took their bags and put them on the bus. Some changed before going on and got into uniform. The bus reeked of sweat and iron. There were bags and people everywhere. "Buckle up everyone before we set off." Ernest warned. Everyone sat down on the black leather seats. They fastened their buckles and a fwooshing sound could be heard. Within seconds everyone felt uneasy and some fell over. The bus took off, and set course for an army base.

"Everyone huddle! Teamwork is key!" Someone exclaimed, trying to rally up a group for the raid. A bunch of people walked over, while others who were too cool for teamwork stayed behind on their phones. "Brayden, come on. We should plan this out as well." Leo tried to explain. "I'll listen, but it better be good." Brayden sighed. Leo looked around on the bus. There were many posters of recognizable pop culture. A calendar of two muscular men was on a window. The date read: September 20, 2019.

The two formulated a plan as they passed by some buildings.Time seemed like it was slowing down. The same motto was scrawled over all of the posters on the bus. Everyone felt weightless. The bus driver caught everyone's attention by speaking over the intercom, which was turned up loud so they could hear it over the fire. "We are now approaching the dropzone. Please grab your parachutes and line up at the door."

All of the people lined up at the bus door as it opened. A big gust of wind blew in everyone's face. All eyes were on the base. One by one everyone jumped out of the bus. Some looked like they had skydived everyday of their lives. Others looked like they had never been once. Leo and Brayden nodded and were next in line. "Thank you, Earnest!" the person in front of them exclaimed. Leo took a step forward and then another. Time seemed to slow down to a halt now. Leo took one more step. He started leaning forward. Falling out, he shouted to the bus driver, "Thank you!" Brayden soon dropped with Leo, and without thanking the bus driver, jumped out.

They both had wide grins on their faces as they looked at the base below; Area 51. Leo talked through on his earpiece. "How are the runners doing?" As soon as he said that, a wave of people came rushing to the front door of the base. It looked like a flock of crows about the size of ants. There was a line of people behind them as well. Those must be the Rock Throwers.

"Don't worry about them, Leo. Keep your eyes on the prize." They both moved their arms and positioned themselves for the base. That was when the turrets opened fire. Bullets whizzed by everyone's head. Some people dropped out of the skies like crashing airplanes. "Eyes on the prize." Leo mumbled to himself. He opened his parachute, as he was close enough to the ceiling of one of the buildings. He dropped the parachute and planted his feet on the concrete. He crouched, waiting for Brayden. Brayden dropped and planted his feet as well. Each of them nodded to each other, while Leo grabbed something from his bag. He placed it by a vent and ran to another corner of the house. Brayden lit a string that was attached to the object and both of them covered their ears. A loud boom could be heard that would surely alert some guards. They dropped in and nodded once again. They both split up and ran in opposite directions.

Leo turned a corner but quickly ran back. He spotted some guards in front of him. They didn't notice though and kept running to the front entrance. Leo breathed a sigh of relief as he kept running and looking for the aliens. Before he could get a head start though, he was pulled back by a hand. He turned around to see figures in black hooded clothes. One pulled out a metal cylinder and pressed a button. A bright red beam illuminated the area.
