Chapter 28: Bryan Needs To Die
On his way back home, Ken spoke to Fanny in a relieved tone. He couldn't believe the Hans would be easily convinced with his words!
Fanny asked, "Well? How did it go? Did the Hans say anything when you told them about Bryan's plan?"
Ken laughed heartily, "Ah! It went very well. I told them Bryan still wanted to kidnap Shirley and hold her accountable for Selina's death. They believed my words and thought that he was going nuts. So, the Han family are on our side. I'm just the messenger between them. None of them would suspect my set up."
Fanny took a deep breath and stuttered. "But what if Bryan finds out about our plan? He is the ruler of the underworld! Isn't the Han family afraid of him? Why would they easily agree to proceeding with their plans?"
Grinning to his screen, he replied to her inquiry. "I didn't tell them his identity. They think of him as a fool; a clown who doesn't know his place. They're planning to teach him a lesson. If he resists, then they might even kill him and let him rot on the streets! Knowing Bryan's arrogant nature, he would definitely fight back."
Fanny gasped, "Isn't teaching him a lesson enough? It'll be a bit too far if they kill him! We'll be indirectly his murderer. I just wanted to teach him a lesson, so that he would stay away from us. I never thought Anthony Han would think of such a bold plan!"
He shook his head as his wife's naive mindset. "Wife, if he doesn't die, then it'll be us who will meet the grim reaper. Think about it. We are lower in status compared to both families. If we don't use this chance to kill off Bryan, we will be the ones in trouble. Honestly, I also don't want to do this, but I have no choice."
Hearing the continuous hesitation in her voice, he grunted as he kept his eyes on the road. "You're hesitating! You can't accomplish anything big if you aren't ruthless to your enemies. Bryan must die or else he will come back to get revenge on us. It's cruel, but it's the survival rule. The weakest will hit rock bottom and strongest will last till the end. Do you want Peter to be his next target?"
"No! Not Peter! I can't let anyone hurt our Peter. Fine. Just...Just get this whole thing over with. Time will fade our guilt. I'll burn him more incense sticks and other necessities after he dies!" Fanny changed her mind after hearing Peter's name.
"That's right! He must die! Even if Bryan escapes from the Han family's wrath, he will hunt them down for revenge. It has nothing to do with me. If he ends up dead, then too bad for him. It isn't easy to trample over the Han family! Only Bryan would dare challenge them." He gritted his teeth and sped down the highway.
Meanwhile, at the W bridge, a man in his 20's placed down a bouquet of flowers. His eyes were filled with sorrow as he chugged down a bottle of juice that Selina used to love drinking. He wiped his mouth using his sleeve and turned the bottle upside down.
"Selina, your brother Michael is back. When you were still alive, I've never drank juice with you. You've always wanted to have me try it, but I always rejected because it was too sweet. Right now, I finished every drop of it. Unless someone finds your body or else, I won't give up. I won't listen to what others tell me. I will only believe my own eyes."
He leaned against the rail and looked at the waters below. "I don't know what happened to you, but your brother, Alfred and I will find all those responsible for your jump. I'll have them pay for everything they've done to you. Just like Alfred, to me, you're always my little sister. Now that you've run into trouble, brother will avenge for you."
As he continued enjoying the scenery and thinking about Selina, he overheard a loud voice nearby. A photographer was talking on the phone while snapping shots of nature. The closer he walked, the louder his voice pierced through Michael's ear.
"Yeah! I was surprised too! I was taking pictures a little over a month ago and snapped pictures of the girl falling! Not much longer after her jump, a group of people saved her and took off. Too bad I couldn't take a picture of the guy's face. He looked pretty handsome even though he was wet. That girl is so lucky. He looked rich."
The timing of Selina's jump was very close to this stranger's description! A month ago, only Selina had jumped down the bridge. Without a second thought, Michael grabbed the stranger's collar and prevented him from leaving.
"You said you were here a month ago and took pictures of a girl jumping off the bridge. Where are the pictures?!"The blood in his body boiled as he thought of Selina being brought away by strangers. Nobody reported finding her body! Someone was covering up their tracks. She could be alive!
"I..I.. Let me go first. I'll show you it after you let go of me. I can't breathe!" The man struggled as his feet struggled to touch the ground. Michael slowly released his grip and waited for the man to show him the pictures.
The pictures were captured in the slow-motion mode. As Michael continued observing picture by picture, his eyes turned red as tears stung his vision. Another group of people saved her! Someone carried her out of the waters!
In the middle of reviewing the pictures, a thought crossed his mind as he recalled one of his buddies talking about some suspicious activities a few months ago. He quickly dialed a number on his phone to confirm his thoughts. After fifteen minutes into the conversation, his body trembled greatly.
Sweat droplets layered on his forehead as he decided to contact Bryan. For some reason, he wasn't picking up after his fifth attempted call. After hearing the automatic message again, he frustratedly hung up and dialed another familiar set of numbers.
The man immediately picked up the call after the second ring. "Hello? Michael?"
"Alfred! Is Bryan with you?"
