Chapter 9: Misunderstanding
"What's taking you so long..... Do you know her Fengju?"
Zhen Zhihuo glanced back and forth between the male-female standing before him, trying to make some sense of this situation.
"You called backup? Are you even a man? Calling a reinforcement against a meek woman?!."
"I don't know what's wrong with her brain. I don't know her. I went to help her and she's accusing me to be a terrorist. Can you believe it? Me?! A terrorist?! Excuse me, Are you on drugs?"
Chen fengju was now getting impatient and wanted this drama to end. 'I should have left her.'
"Woah woah. Calm down, both of you. Lady, why do you think he's a terrorist?"
Maybe it was due to Zhihuo's gentle tone, but Su Meiling visibly calmed down.
"Maybe you're obvious of his true identity too. I've seen his picture on the newspaper and it said he's a suspected terrorist. I don't have that article now. But I regularly read about what's going on in military area. They've detained him a few months ago."
"Hahahaha. Fengju! You're now a terrorist bro! What an interesting woman."
Zhen Zhihuo laughed out loud. It was really funny how the best cadet trophy winner was being suspected as a terrorist. 'Wait. Has she mixed up those two articles?'
"Miss now that I think about it in this way, do you know who Chen fengju is?"
Fengju snapped his head towards Zhihuo. 'What's with this question?'
"Ofc! I told you I read a lot about the military. In fact ,my uncle is in military itself. He's the one who won the best cadet trophy in his 5th term. This was quite big news as his brother won this award too. But Fengju even surpassed his elder brother. He's amazing. I admire him for this."
Su Meiling was in fangirl mode. Her eyes were twinkling and she seemed so excited to talk about her favorite topic - The Military.
"You really mixed it up woman. Here see my I'd card."
Chen fengju handed his cadet id card to Su Meiling.
"Is this your new trick? Stay there! I can take it from here too. No need to come closer."
Su Meiling was still eyeing Chen fengju suspiciously. She took the card swiftly from his hand as if the contact with his hand burnt hers. Chen fengju raised both of his hands in surrender to show he meant no harm.
"Chen fengju?! You're Chen Fengju?! This means...."
Su Meiling's eyes popped out of her sockets. She became pale when she realized her mistake.
"You you you...."
Meiling was stepping back while pointing a finger at Fengju. Meiling stumbled upon her box and fell backwards. Chen Fengju instinctively caught her by her hand and pulled her into his arms. When they realized what has happened, both jumped apart from each other.
"I keep helping her and she accused me of such a thing."
Chen fengju was mumbling loud enough for Su Meiling to hear it. Meiling bent her torso and did a 90° bow.
"I'm really sorry for making false allegations on you, even if it was a misunderstanding. I should have checked the facts before tainting someone's reputation. Please forgive my ignorance Mr. Chen."
Chen fengju squinted his eyes. 'This woman is really very smart. She apologized but made sure to mention that it was a misunderstanding, therefore I can't help but forgive her. What a cunning creature.'
"You can stand up now. I'm not suing you for this, but next time think before you speak. Let's go Zhihuo."
As soon as Chen fengju turned his back to her, Su Meiling stuck out her tongue at him.
"Meanie! I said it was a mistake and even apologized. What's with the warning. hump!" Her phone rang at that time.
"Yes Mr. Jiang."
"Ms. Su, pick me up from XYZ park!"
"Okay, I'll be there in 10 mins."
'Why does he sound so angry? Is he in trouble again? Run Meiling!'
"That was some crazy shit man. But it was hilarious too. How many times do you get someone to mistake you as a terrorist. HAHAHA."
Zhen Zhihuo was laughing all the time he was driving. Those 10 mins seemed the longest 10 mins of Chen fengju's life.
"Shut up otherwise I'll throw you out."
"And then you'll die together with me. HAHAHA."
Chen fengju concluded it would be better to stay quiet than to argue with a fool.
"We're here."
Chen fengju stepped out of the car and thanked his friend before rushing towards his sister. Chen Xixi was standing outside the studio with a paper bag in her hands, tapping her foot impatiently.
"Hey sis! What's up? Everything's alright? You seemed so angry at the phone."
"I don't even wanna talk about it. Forgot that. Let's go, we're already late. Gege and XiaoLi would be waiting for us. It's already 9 am." Chen fengju and Chen Xixi boarded the car and drove away towards XiaoLi's farmhouse.
