Chapter 2: The Eye

After that momnent, there was a rush of air entering my ears and I woke up. I didn't know where I was. I stared and I saw that I was in someone's living room. Still confused, I tried to get up but a small hand pushed me back down. Little eyes peered down at me as I layed on the sofa. They looked terrified as if they had seen a ghost. It was my little sister and she looked scared when she saw me. Pushed up against the arm rest, I realized just how much pain I was in. Everything did not feel real. What kind of dream is this I wondered. Why are we the ones suffering?

My dear sister did not say anything, she just stared and tears slowly came to her face. I saw her small face had become bones. She looked dirty which was not like her. She always liked looking clean. she always talked about how she wanted to be a lady who had tea in a little garden with alot of lillies.

oh what a poor soul she was to have encountered such a cruel fate.

.....................................................................................

As I was thinking, my thoughts were cut short because I saw in the corner of my eyes two men walking into the living room. One of them was my best friend and the other mysterious man I did not know. I stood up and pulled my sister closer who looked like she was calming down.

Clay was the first childhood friend that I had when we first moved to this small town of Berry Yard. He was caring and knew about the powers that my family tried so hard to keep from the public eye. Clay was always right about things and I would always tease him about having powers to predict the future. He was not a Hibitte but I knew he somehow has something to do with it.

The clue was from his left eye which seemed quite abnormal and he always had it covered. He would consistantly get teased about having a purple iris. But I always found it super pretty which he disagreed with whenever I would compliment him.

"Loli, how are you feeling" Clay said as he came from behind the other man. I was fine but in a lot of pain. Maybe it wasn't physical pain but more of the emotional side of it. I didn't know how to answer him.

"Fine" I said. I mean what else could I tell him. I am barely hanging on not to imagine the smell of burning flesh. I felt useless because I could not do anything in that situation.

Clay seemed to get that I did not want to talk about it at the moment because he left again to get us a cup of coffee. As I took a sip, there was that familiar strong taste that made me tear up because I remembered how the mornings smelled like coffee.

Now there is no morning that will have coffee.

.............................................................................................

I stared at the man who had not said anything and Clay shook his head as if he knew what I was thinking. He said that he will introduce us when I am a little more accepting of the situation. How could I accept this situation? I thought to myself.
