Chapter 3: Rules of the Game - Chase
"The most important thing to remember when playing is the goal," I explained, "That should always be your top priority. In the game, your objective is finding the center of the labyrinth, to claim the creation orb. In the lore, every other team is trying to destroy the orb, which will destruct the entire world, but that's not really important. Everyone is in teams of 4, and there are four teams in total, so that makes up forty people in total. You got that?"
She nodded, "Ok, so how do you get to the orb?"
I smiled, "The main challenge isn't about navigating the maze, it's about the other players. Every team is looking to cut down the competition, and every time you manage to kill someone, you will reach the next level, and become stronger. For every game you also have one permanent kill. You can choose to eliminate one person per match completely, meaning they will not resurrect. Pick carefully, you can only do this once in every game. There are also monsters roaming the game, if you manage to kill one it will drop materials that you can trade to create items, items will also make you better."
She looked up thoughtfully, "Have you ever won without killing someone?"
I shrugged, "I don't think so, why do you ask?"
"Just curious," she said, as her lips twisted in a slight frown.
Uneasiness gathered in the pits of my stomach, but I dismissed it and continued, "Once you reach the center of the labyrinth, your will have to fight 9 champions chosen from every team, if another teams reaches the orb first, we'll have to vote someone from our team to fight the team in the center. If the team in the center is eliminated, they will have to restart at the edge of the maze. If they manage to kill the 9 champions, they win. Finally there is the Crystal Crown, whoever possesses it will have greatly enhanced abilities. The Crystal Crown is granted to the player with the most kills after fifteen minutes. From then on if you want the Crown you will have to use your permanent kill on the person who currently possesses it. So try to save your permanent kill to obtain the crown, that way you get the crown and they don't come ba-"
