Chapter 2: 2.) Love you Cuz
I can't wait till my birthday is here!! I want so badly to know what happened to my parents. I want to know if my theory is correct.
My mother was beautiful. My cousin, peter, showed me a picture of her. Her name was Melanie. I wished I remembered her or at least had one memory of here. If I had one memory of her that'd be enough. But I don't. I bet she was amazing.
"Hey cuz. What's up?" I said walking into the kitchen, to find Peter making eggs.
"The sky. Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah. I slept fine." I said grabbing an apple off of the counter.
"Hey are you ready for your soccer practice in a week?" He asked.
"Not in the slightest. But I've got my charms." I said with a smile. Something I should mention. I am oddly fast. Everyone on my planet is fast it's in our DNA. It's like our very own superpower.
"No. You don't have your charms. You said you wouldn't use them. We don't want to draw attention to our selves."
"Why? No ones gonna guess that we're refugees from another planet."
"Yeah but still. If you use your powers too much the Linked could find us. And you don't want that now do you?" He said. Putting the eggs he was making on a plate nearby.
"Come on. They have to be a million light years away from us to be able to track us. And I'm pretty sure our planet is billions and trillions of light years away. There not gonna find us if I use my powers." I said with a smile, giving away a little giggle.
"Well then it's not fare for everyone else here if you use your speed."
"Ugh. Come on please just a little bit."
"... Fine but don't make it to obvious." He said with a sigh
"Peter, don't worry. I'm gonna be slower than a turtle. Also I'm going on a walk." I said starting to leave.
"Ha, ya sure you will. Hey, Zack don't forget Jessie's coming over for dinner tonight. Don't be late."
"Ok" I yelled back at him closing the door.
As I walk down the street, apple in my hand I wonder what my life would have been like. I don't often wonder about this stuff, but because my birthday is coming up it makes me think of my planet. I would have been an awesome prince, and an even better king. As I thought this a smile appeared on my face.
As much as I wonder what my old life would have been like I really like his one.
When our small ship landed here, when we escaped from our planet, we landed in a farm In Illinois. It was just me and Peter in the ship. Peter was 10 at the time, but still did his best to take care of me. The farm we landed on belonged to an old elderly couple. Peter told them our story and they thought it best to keep us there to keep us safe. But they were old and didn't have any children. They didn't really know what they were doing. But they did there best. And they managed to raise Peter right. So they did good. Peter looked out for me a lot though. I was bullied a bit in middle school. I came home with black eyes a lot. Peter told me that one day he put them in their place. And he was right the next day at school the kids that used to pick on me stayed away. He has always been there for me when ever I needed him. And I'm grateful for that.
Peter was naturally smart. Our species is very advanced so when he got old enough he went to college on a full scholar ship. Then five years later he got a great job at a huge company. I've always looked up to him. He's my roll model, and I don't know what I'd do without him.
One day when Peter came home on a holdiday we were exploring the ship we came in. We never did it before because it brought back to many memories. But when we did explore it we found something truly extraordinary. It was a rare substance on our planet. And didn't exist on this planet. It's called bexez. It's hard to explain. But it is a variety of colors, and worth a fortune. We got a lot of money out of it. And we gave some of the money we got from it to the old couple who took us in when we first came to this planet. We moved out of f their house and Peter bought one of his own. That's where we are now.
Anyway, Peters twenty five now and meet the love of his life. Her name is Jessie. He met her almost a year ago. Jessie has red straight hair and freckles on her nose, with bright green eyes. There anniversary is in two days. And their going on a huge vacation for a whole week. Leaving me in the house all alone. And you know what that means.
