Chapter 24: The silent awkwardness in between gazes
Hearing Nathan's word Aurora replied while hugging him tightly and standing on her toes to reach to his ear, "I know that... I think I have fallen for you too. I love you, Nathan... I love you."
Nathan's eyes widen up with the surprise to hear Aurora's words because he couldn't believe what his ears heard just then. He looked at Aurora with puzzled eyes and she who could understand that uncertainty in his gazes nodded her head with a sweet smile by approving that what she said and what he heard was true. His heart overwhelmed with happiness and he immediately hugged Aurora tightly while placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Knock… Knock… Knock…" "Cring… Cring… Cring…", Aurora could hear a sound of knocking on the door where Nathan could hear the ringing of an alarm clock at the moment where they were enjoying each other's warmth by being wrapped in one another's embrace.
Both of them sat jumping on their beds from their respective bedrooms hurriedly while rubbing their eyes and trying their best to figure out the situation by confusedly looking here and there.
"Where am I???", both of them exclaimed while examing around their rooms hurriedly.
"Phew, I am in my room.", two of them took a deep breath while placing their hands on their chests.
"It was just a dream.", both of them jump back to lay down on their beds.
"But what kind of dream was that???", Aurora covered her face embarrassingly with her both hands where Nathan rubbed his temple.
"I love Nathan that pretty face??? Never.", Aurora got up immediately and sat down while making faces.
"I love Aurora that cute cat??? I don't know.", Nathan sat up with a smile.
The knocks on Aurora's door was continuing and she answered the door to see her mom standing there who was dossing off in half-sleep.
"You asked me to wake you up at 6 am. It's already 6.05 am now.", said her mom by pointing towards the huge wall clock on their drawing room and then heading back to her bedroom to take some more sleep while sleepwalking like a zombie.
"Thanks, mom.", Aurora said happily to her mom who was entering her bedroom like a wondering ghost spirit while getting back into her own room.
"I will study a bit more after getting fresh but Nathan, you better stay away from my mind. Ufff, troublesome boy...", Aurora headed to the washroom to get fresh while cursing Nathan in her mind.
Meanwhile, at Nathan's place, the alarm clock kept ringing non-stoppable on the bedside and Nathan took a look at it tiredly. Then he grabbed the alarm clock while shutting it out and rubbing his eyes.
"6.05 am… I got to head out quickly.", Nathan took a look at the time by holding the alarm clock with his both hands.
Nathan put back the alarm clock to its place while fixing his messy hair, "Sorry, little kitty, I will never let myself involve with you and let you get hurt or hurt you."
"Maybe that day from this dream will never come..." Nathan headed to the washroom to get fresh with a bittersweet smile while being occupied with thinking about his dream with Aurora.
The morning time before their school hours passed away with their being busy to handle their own personal activities and afterwards when it was time for them to start for the school both Aurora and Nathan headed to school as usual on time.
Aurora who was so careful about her not crossing Nathan's way while entering the school because of her wild dream early in the morning met Scarlet on her way. Scarlet who was familiar with Aurora's sneaky cat behaviours asked Aurora suspiciously, "Hey, why are you behaving strangely??? Whom are you searching around by scanning the whole school compound like a satellite with your tiny eyes???"
"Oh… well, that… hmmm...", Aurora stammered before replying to Scarlet which made her more doubtful about her.
So, Scarlet asked wearing a doubtful expression and giving an evil glare, "Hey, what's up??? Planning to come up with white lies again???"
Aurora who knew that she couldn't hide anything from Scarlet and still didn't want to share her wild dream with her took a risk to tell her a cooked up story where her voice was still trembling in fear as she didn't want to be caught up by Scarlet, "Actually, I was checking whether there is Lucas around us or not because yesterday I crossed my way with him before the class time and my whole day was ruined. I don't want the same things to repeat today too."
"Oh, got it. Don't worry. We won't cross him today. If he was around, we would have seen him by now. Moreover, I heard when I was entering from the gate that he hasn't arrived at school yet from James and Carter as they were discussing it with Connor and Nicholas.", said Scarlet happily.
"Oh, by the way, why are you alone today??? Where are others???", asked Aurora curiously to avoid the topic they were talking over.
"Oh, Abigail and Emily came earlier than me with Lucy, Julia and Nora as I wanted to come with my dad.", replied Scarlet with a smile.
"Oh, what about Madison???", questioned Aurora curiously.
"I took a peep into her place on my way and asked her cousin about her and she told me that Madison was already at school. You know Madison lives a few houses ahead than the school like you who lives a few houses behind to the school unlike us who are the ones live a bit much far from the school.", said Scarlet in a tired voice and then she added in a cheerful voice, "Forget it. It's so troublesome to think about it. Let's go to the classroom first."
"Hmmm.", Aurora nodded her head obediently to Scarlet's words and Scarlet started to walk to their classroom by pulling Aurora into a side hug.
Both of them headed to the floor of their classroom while being busy with chatting about studies and some other things where they encountered the same crowded gathering and greetings from the juniors as usual.
Everything was going fine until Aurora's eyes caught the sight of Nathan who was having a chat with Oliver while hanging out in the corridor in front of their classroom.
The flashback from the dream early in the morning flooded down in her mind making her flushed. Aurora immediately took a pause from walking by stop moving forehead. She bit the inner lower lip of her slightly by gulping and at that moment Nathan also accidentally took a look at Aurora and was frozen to the place with the heavy blow of flashback from his dream.
Aurora's long curvey eyelashes along with the eyelids fluttered like a deer in headlights as she was trying her best to come up with a way to avoid Nathan's gazes and Nathan took a deep breath to stop himself from being flushed by recalling about his involvement with Aurora in that dream where his gaze was still fixed on her.
"Hey, what happened??? Why did you stop???", Scarlet asked curiously who didn't notice either the presence of Nathan or have any idea of Aurora and Nathan's hidden fantasy dream.
With that opportunity, Aurora quickly took her eyes away from Nathan by saying while trying to put her whole concentrate on Scarlet and trying best to avoid Nathan's presence, "Nothing. Let's go quickly. I was waiting for you."
"Wait. What??? I was here just now and you are the one who was dashing out.", Scarlet exclaimed out confusedly at Aurora's strange behaviour and her weird words as she couldn't guess what was really going on there.
"Shut up and keep walking.", said Aurora while tagging Scarlet with her and walking towards their classroom.
Then when they were almost near to the place where Nathan was standing Aurora again took a look at Nathan and he who was observing Aurora the whole while smiled with her without even his own realization where Aurora also subconsciously exchanged a sweet smile with him and headed into the classroom with Scarlet while being lost with her thoughts, "I was so dumb. I was panicking out for no reason. I just have to behave normally in front of him. After all, it was my dream and he doesn't know anything about that dream. Even how could he know that I dreamt wild about him???"
Aurora took a deep breath full of relief with a slight smile after analysing the situation between her and Nathan where Nathan who was being flushed by her smiled turned away immediately while being occupied with his thoughts, "How can I be so silly??? She doesn't know about my dream. How she or anyone can know it because it's my dream after all. Oh my god finally, I don't have to feel uncomfortable around her. She was behaving normally with me. So, I should do the same because she doesn't know."
"Hey, bro, what's going on between you and her???", questioned Oliver curiously who was observing the whole atmosphere between Aurora and Nathan by standing next to him and also Nathan's sudden expression changes while being lost in his own world.
"She doesn't know it", Nathan said out bluntly what was running in his mind happily without giving any attention to Oliver's presence.
"What she doesn't know, bro???", Oliver asked suspiciously while raising his one eyebrow by fixing his gazes on Nathan.
"Nothing at all." Nathan shook his head immediately with a regretted expression for his being so careless to talk out bluntly while cursing himself from inside for being so dumb in happiness.
"Oh, I Got it. You are eyeing over her and she doesn't know it. Keep it up, bro. You both are good in academics and looks. She is a beauty with the brain where you are a handsome hunk with talent. Match made in heaven. I will support you. Don't worry. Go for it.", said Oliver in a mischievous voice while patting Nathan's shoulder with a teasing wink at the end.
"You, bad guy, stop teasing me. Nothing like that.", said Nathan while messing Oliver's hair.
"Hey stop it. Don't mess my hair. It's the only thing I don't want anyone else to touch. It's so hard to style it. As you are my bro. I am forgiving you.", said Oliver while fixing his hair by sobbing like a puppy who was obsessed with its fluffy tail.
"Oh, okay. I am sorry then.", Nathan said with a smile while looking towards the playground.
That time a familiar figure passing from the playground caught Nathan's attention and he asked curiously, "Hey Oliver, what about that junior brother who came to call me to the office room??? What was his name??? Oh, Nick. Did he meet you again???"
"Yes, of course. We often meet one another. After all, he lives near my home. He came to join the basketball match with the rest of my neighbourhood friends. Why??? Do you have any business with him??? You want to talk to him???", asked Oliver while still being busy with fixing his hair.
"Did he say you anything about me???", Nathan questioned out curiously while there was a hidden shadow of tension on his face.
Oliver suddenly took a look at Nathan with eyes full of doubts by stop fixing his hair on the halfway after hearing Nathan's question and then he said out wearing a serious expression, "Oh, yes. I forget to ask you about it. Good that you make me remind it. I wanted to know something too."
"What did he say to you??? What do you want to know???", Nathan questioned Oliver wearing a curious expression where from the behind of that mask of curiosity Nathan was freaking out in his mind as well as being panicked, "Damn it. Seems like that dimwit Nick sold me out to Oliver. What will I do now??? How to handle Oliver??? He is my only friend. Neither I can't hurt him nor I can let anyone know my secret. What should I do now???"
Nathan clenched his fists while gulping in frustration and trying to find an immediate solution to deal with that situation so that things wouldn't go out the way he had planned and also if it did go out, then to have the control over the things in his hands as the way it had been.
