Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Doc was contemplating how to get the box when she heard a sound. She shifted and it shattered the picture behind her embedding itself into the wall. She looked forward and her blood chilled in her veins. She was face to face with a warm gun barrel. The holder of the gun had cold and malicious eyes. Doc didn't have time to react when she was hit with the gun. The force was just enough to be painful and injure her but not enough to knock her out. Doc spat out blood.
Doc couldn't bring herself to voice her out most fear. 'She had remembered!'
"GMN-1 listen... " Doc began when Deccan rushed in having heard the gun shot. He was startled out of his pants and wanted to turn back to where he came from.
"Move and I'll shoot"
Deccan turned to face them. GMN-1 had one hand wrapped around Doc's neck, cutting off a greater part of her air supply. She aimed the bullet at Deccan's head and moved it to his leg. She used the gun to hit Doc in the face again before pointing back at Deccan.
Doc could swear she saw stars. She didn't have enough oxygen to stay alive let alone talk. She tried to struggle but it was causing her more harm. Deccan looked at the girl holding the gun. Her eyes were cold and deadly. Deccan shivered. Things have really gone south. Suddenly she titled her head and smiled. GMN-1 rarely smiled.
"You thought I wouldn't find out!?..." Her voice was loud and full of anger and viciousness. They were pretty sure it rang through the whole floor. The other two swallowed. "I'm here for my pound of flesh and I must collect"
Their was a noise in the corridor. GMN 5 and 7 stumbled in. They were momentarily surprised but got themselves and rushed forward. There was another gun shot and then the second and GMN-1 jumped from the window. The other two GMNs were surprised and rushed to the windows, even with their eye sight they couldn't see anything it was like she vanished.
GMN 5 and 7 had arrived to the facility first. Doc and Deccan were usually in the common room whenever they came back from missions but since they weren't there, they decided to go look for them. As they got close, they could hear GMN-1 shout. They were surprised. 1 wasn't know for shouting except in extreme cases. Whatever had her this angry had to be serious. They rushed towards where they heard the noise. The scene that met their eyes had them spell bound for few seconds.
Doc with her bloodied face was being clutched around the neck by GMN-1 while she pointed a gun at Deccan. It took them a moment to react. They rushed for her before she killed any of them but she shot at them. The bullet missed 7 by less than an inch, bruising the side of his face. They faltered confused. She shot the window and dove out before they could get to her.
GMN-5 made to jump out of the window after her but was held back by 7. They couldn't see her even with their eyesight which meant she could easily hurt them if she was still there. They turned back to Doc and Deccan. Doc was trying to catch her breath while Deccan collapsed into a puddle. They walked over to them and helped them.
"Why did she attack you? " GMN-7 asked. He had some understanding of GMN-1, she would never do something like that without a very tangible reason. Doc and Deccan couldn't reply. GMN 5 and 7 put it down to shock.
They saw a note lying on Doc's table. GMN-7 picked it up. It read...
GMN 2, 6 and 3 arrived few minutes later than 5 and 7. They parked the car in the garage and walked towards the entrance just as 1, 4 and 9 were driving in. GMN-4 stopped at the entrance and grabbed the man. He handed the key to GMN-1 and GMN-9 flew out of the car with incredible speed holding his heart. GMN-1 just rolled her eyes, got in and drove off.
"Whooa! " GMN-6 cheered her and they all turned to look at her, she shrugged. GMN-3 turned to 9 who was still unconsciously holding his chest.
"What's wrong with you? " GMN-3 asked
"Trust me, you wouldn't want to be in the car she's driving" GMN-9 said
"Trust me, 6 is worse. she's insane. You'll need protective gears to be in the car she's driving" GMN-2 said shaking his head.
"What protective gear, you're going to need a whole suit of amour and even that might not save you. She's a lunatic!" GMN-9 vehemently said.
"Anyone I know? " GMN-1 asked
GMN-9 turned to see GMN-1 standing behind him. He quickly moved away from her.
"Hey maybe we could race sometime? " GMN-6 said
"Sure" GMN-1 replied as they proceeded in. They had been waiting for her. GMN-6 looked surprised that 1 had accepted her invitation but she was happy none the less. GMN-4 carried Williams inside and dumped him on the floor in the common room. They had been there less than two minutes when GMN-7 came in and fired.
GMN-1 dodged the bullet that was aimed at her. Every other person became alert. To say they were surprised would be an understatement. They had heard them coming. GMN 5, 7, Deccan and Doc. They had been surprised they were back early but didn't think much on it. GMN-7 had looked pensive when he entered and the rest wondered why he was holding a gun. Suddenly he fired.
"What the hell is wrong with you!? " GMN-6 demanded
He ignored her and made to fire again before he could, GMN-2 was already on him while 3 snatched the gun. Doc and Deccan looked terrified and moved back. GMN-5 just stood there looking lost.
"Can someone explain what's going on!? " GMN-3 demanded
"She attacked us! " GMN-5 found her voice pointing at GMN-1.
GMN-9 laughed and laughed and laughed. Everyone starred at him.
"Sorry I couldn't help it. She attacked you? It was me she attacked okay?" GMN-9 said
"When did she attack you? " GMN-3 asked ignoring 9.
"Get off me! "GMN-7 struggled and they let him go
"About 10 minutes ago" GMN-5 replied
"She was beside me" GMN-4 said
"Even if she wasn't you'll still say she was! " GMN-7 accused
"So you're saying I'm lying? " GMN-4 asked and 7 kept quiet.
This was not getting them anywhere. Doc was clearly shaken and Deccan was pale. GMN-5 ,well they didn't know what was wrong with that one while 7 was bruised on his face.
"What exactly happened? " GMN-3 asked
GMN-4 made himself comfortable on the chair that was closest. GMN-1 folded her hands and watched the rest.
"We came back and saw GMN-1 attacking Doc and Mr. Deccan and when we tried to stop her, she attacked us..." GMN-5 said.
GMN-1 was surprised 5 wasn't screaming for her blood then she looked her over and nearly hissed. She was playing the confused victim. Her next words proved that fact.
"I don't know what we did to her, she even fired at 7. He was quick to react and just got bruised on his face." GMN-5 finished
"You can't be serious" GMN-9 said in disbelief
"Then take a look at Doc's face" GMN-5 said stepping aside.
Doc's face was bruised and bloodied. Some of the blood had begun to dry. There were marks on her neck. She just looked at GMN-1 who starred right back at her.
"What I meant was that 1 was with us the whole time; so unless someone was playing dress up, you are clearly mistaken" GMN-9 said
"The four of us saw her. Are you saying the four of us are clearly mistaken? She attacked us and then jumped out the window." GMN-7 said. He was getting pissed. He knew what he saw and they were trying to say he was lying or framing her.
"Who attacked you Doc? " GMN-2 asked.
Doc didn't reply but starred at GMN-1 who starred right back at her. Doc didn't know what to think anymore. Were they in league with GMN-1 and were trying to cover up for her? She looked at GMN-1 the anger and malice she saw before wasn't there, what she saw was indifference.
"I know how to resolve this... " GMN-9 said snapping his fingers. "The cameras in your office must have captured everything"
"There are no cameras in my office." Doc replied
"Oh but there is" GMN-9 said excusing himself. Doc panicked.
Doc went into panic mode. If there was a camera in her office what of other conversations she had in the office? How come she didn't know of any camera? Did Deccan know? She had been suspecting him more and more of going behind her back.
GMN-9 came back with a disc and grabbed his laptop.
"I asked them to put the last 30 minutes in the disc" he announced.
Doc looked somewhat relieved. GMN-9 smiled cheerfully. He put the disc in.
They watched Doc pace around in her office mumbling how she needed to get that box and some other things they couldn't make sense of. They watched as a bullet flew past Doc shattering a picture and embedding in the wall. GMN-1 appeared on the screen. All of them turned to look at her. She just stood behind them arms folded and stared at the screen. She was as emotionless as ever, as if what they were watching had nothing to do with her.
They watched as GMN-1 attacked Doc with the gun and threaten Deccan. Doc was trying to explain something pleadingly and at one point she asked them if they thought she wouldn't find out. Both Doc and Deccan were scared but more because of her anger. She hit Doc again and almost choked her and shot at GMN-7 when he rushed for her, jumping out of the window to escape leaving a note on Doc's table. The footage ended with 7 and 5 helping Doc and Deccan and then looking at the note. It ended and they all turned to look at GMN-1. She was no longer standing behind them. She was seated on the sofa like she wasn't in the least bit interested. She noticed their stares and looked up.
"It wasn't me" she said with a shrug.
The rest looked at her. GMN-7 was furious.
"We just watched it and you say it wasn't you? " GMN-7 asked. Did she think them stupid.
"Then who was it? " GMN-5 asked mockingly
"Ask Doc" GMN-1 said like she was bored
Doc was shocked but composed herself. She had wanted to use 5 and 7 to find out if GMN-1 was after her but so far she got nothing rather she was accused of knowing her attacker. Williams who was beside her chair was beginning to stir.
"Why should they ask me? " Doc asked her
"The person was clearly after you with some past grievance." GMN-1 simply stated picking out a beverage can that was under the cushion of the sofa. She looked at 6 who gave a self conscious shrug.
"I clearly don't know the person" Doc said and GMN-1 turned to look at her.
"You thought it was me. Why would I be that angry with you Doc? You were trying to explain but she wasn't willing to listen but I am. Tell me Doc what am I going to find out? " GMN-1 starred right at Doc. There was no curiosity or suspicion in her eyes, they were blank and that seem to scare Doc and Deccan more. GMN-1 could sense their fear. she mentally sighed and made a note to find out why she often sensed fear from Doc.
"I was overpowered, I was trying to negotiate. I have no idea what she was talking about" Doc replied trying to make her voice sound even.
"Don't try to change the issue, you attacked us" GMN-5 said. GMN-1 couldn't resist the urge to roll her eyes.
"It wasn't her" GMN 2 and 4 said together then eyed each other.
