Chapter 55: 54. Sleeping beauty.
Exercise in the morning is supposed to give you a boost... or so everyone says. In the case of Chen Jingyun, it didn't stop her from dropping her head and drifting into a deep slumber.
Circling Chen Jingyun like a shark- no, puppy- Fu Wang was looking for a sight of life in Chen Jingyun's heavy state of sleep. Others may call her a sloth, but in his eyes, she was the sleeping beauty.
Another day has gone by and he had so much to talk to her about. What was it about? He didn't know but he greatly enjoyed her company anyway. He could ask her opinion on fabrics and even if she didn't know anything about it she would manage to make it interesting.
He was also determined to sit next to her at lunchtime, wherever they went and whoever was with them. Even the almighty Li Minghao wouldn't stop him!
Ay, this girl.
Isn't it better to just go to my dorm and live under my protection?
As Fu Wang kept heaving sighs and flying around Chen Jingyun, someone nearby was getting tired of it.
He could barely stand being in this school, let alone being in an increasingly loud classroom.
It was all too overwhelming.
"Are you going to watch him all day?" Hong Bao snapped.
Stopping in his tracks, Fu Wang turned to look at Hong Bao. He wore a slightly startled expression. At the same time, Hong Bao seemed to withdraw his scowl. He himself was surprised too.
"I'm sorry, did I bother you?"
Hong Bao hastily looked back on his notes, secretly gripping his pencil.
"You are moving too much, it is dizzying me."
"Oh, okay." Fu Wang took a note. "I won't do that anymore."
Hong Bao only nodded.
No, loudness wasn't what overwhelmed him.
Witnessing the person sitting beside him, someone with a similar background as his, getting showered with attention from a rich kid made the poison in his mind grow thicker.
He envied the new kid.
The class bell rang and everyone shuffled back to their seats and quieted down by several volumes.
No longer being gentle, Fu Wang shook Chen Jingyun with much more force hoping to snap her awake before the teacher came into the classroom.
Waking up from her slumber, Chen Jingyun cutely rubbed her eyes and stretched like a cat right after.
This was Fu Wang's much-needed dose of cuteness. In fact, he might have gotten a bit more than he could handle...
"Fu Wang." A severe voice called him.
"Oh? Yes?" Fu Wang cluelessly turned around with his hand over his heart.
Every ounce of fluff he had previously felt was singlehandedly evaporated by a stern-looking teacher.
"Are you waiting for me to punish you or are you going to your seat?"
Bowing in apology, Fu Wang quickly ran back to his seat and tried to blend with the background.
Nobody wanted to get Teacher Wu's careful attention.
Not even a trust fund kid like Fu Wang,
"Chen Jingyun wanted to say she paid attention, she really wanted to, but... she found the drowning lectures of Teacher Wu a bit too boring. Especially when it only involved numbers and more numbers!
However, no matter how much she was willful to jet out of the classroom when the bell rang for lunchtime, she didn't commit the mistake of leaving the classroom. The conversation with Li Minghao was still very fresh in her mind.
"Good." It was the first thing Li Minghao said to her when he came back to 'escort' her.
"Should I take it as praise or what?" Chen Jignyun raised her eyebrows as she picked up her belongings needed for a lunch trip.
"Whatever you want." He only shrugged.
"Yo, Qin Yun! We're eating together again!" Luo Shao warmly greeted her. "Where are we going to eat today?"
"I don't know, up to these guys." She pointed her chin towards the others.
"Let's see what they have to say then." Luo Shao warmed up his hands as he approached the rest. "Winner decides where to eat!"
"Call!" They roared.
In the end, Su Long won and picked a western-style cuisine.
"It feels weird to eat steak when it is so bright outside." Luo Shao quietly commented as he cut through the meat. He was certainly not happy about the choice of food.
"Shh, losers can't complain." Su Long condescendingly flicked his hair as he lifted a bite-size piece of meat with his fork.
Luo Shao only pouted.
The other one matching Luo Shao's mood was Fu Wang, but for very different reasons.
This time he also failed to snatch the seat beside her...
He was left with no option but to sit in front of her. The second-best seat.
Nonetheless, he still did his best to carry a conversation with her.
"Well, I think the meal is quite good. What do you think Qin Yun?" Fu Wang glanced at her with a smile.
He knew she liked meat the most.
"It's great!" Chen Jignyun stuck her thumb out before taking another bite.
"Should we get some dessert?"
Before Chen Jingyun could state her agreement Long Rao suddenly joined the conversation.
"I would consider that if I were you guys. you two are eating way too heavily for our next class."
"What's our next class?" Chen Jingyun asked before drinking some water.
"Physical Education."
Chen Jingyun choked.
